In this 2nd part of our look at the latest sound effects releases, we have interesting ambiences from all over the world and sound effects with the ornate qualities you’ve been looking for.

You can hear sounds of birds and frogs from across the European wetlands and Finnish forests, busy streets in major US and Italian cities, and screaming fans during LA rock shows.

Monster Within

Just in time for Halloween, the sound designers at SoundMorph bring you their largest library to date, 'Monster Within'. With over 3,000 sounds, this library features 27 species of ornery creatures, monsters, and aliens. These beasts attack, roar, growl, hit, taunt, charge, walk, breathe, etc., giving you a complete collection that will quickly fill your game or monster movie. Recorded with discrete Quad microphones, and mastered in 5.1 surround (L-C-R-Ls-Rr-Lf Embeded .WAV format). Recording locations are all from center of the crowd to create the widest possible sound. From veteran Hollywood Sound Designer Lenny Jones.

Wetland Atmosphere is a collection of pristine ambiences recorded at wetlands, marshes, bogs, lakes and other similar areas around Europe.

The library consists of 33 recordings ranging from 3 to 10 minutes in length, available both as stereo and surround. The recordings have been captured with a Sennheiser Double Mid-Side rig which was left out overnight in remote locations. This was to make sure that man-made noise and human interaction was kept to a minimum.

Locations include but are not limited to:
• Remote islands in the Danube Delta, the best preserved Delta in Europe
• Swamps in Northern Romania, teeming with frogs and far away from civilization
• Marshes and bogs in Central Sweden
• Lakes surrounded by trees in Central Sweden
• Wetlands in the Somerset Levels, England

The library is accompanied by a comprehensive species list covering 68 birds and 7 amphibians in total.

Highlights include Bitterns with their booming calls, Common Loons and their wails being reflected off of trees, geese, ducks and swans making a racket, the insect-like clicking of Savi’s Warbler and the incessant croaking of various frogs and toads.

Each of the 74 track lasts between 1 and 5 minutes and has very detailed metadata, so if you need sounds of people and cars cohabiting, this is the one for you.

Ambisonic Forest – Summer

Ambisonic Sound Effects Ambisonic Forest – Summer Play Track 10 sounds included, 95 mins total $80

The library is a collection of atmosphere recordings of different sized/aged forests during summer time in Eastern and Southern Finland.

In these recordings you can hear a huge variety of birds during different times of the day and also some changes of the weather such as multiple states of the wind.

The library contains 30 files (10 FuMa, 10 AmbiX and 10 Stereo files) captured at 24bit/96kHz. Total length of over 1.5 hours.

B-format files are in FuMa and AmbiX format.
With the free SoundField SurroundZone 2 plugin you can convert the B-format files into your preferred format (stereo, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 6.1, 7.0 or 7.1 surround). There's also other plugin options such as Harpex-X.

The library also contains ready-made stereo (ORTF with wide cardioid pattern) mixdowns for your convenience.

These recordings are very raw. Very little or none denoising, EQ or any other processing method was used.
