Distortion plug-ins

  • FutzBox is a distortion and noise generator plug-in for creating low fidelity versions of audio signals.
Typical post productions require distorted, or ‘futzed’ versions of dialog and other tracks. Simulations of radios, cell phones, and televisions are now available in a single software product. These simulations, called SIMs (Synthetic Impulse Models) provide accurate modeling in an extremely optimized format, allowing FutzBox to use less DSP power than conventional convolution based products. Furthermore, SIMs can be scaled in real-time and changed on the fly.

In addition to the SIM library of sounds, FutzBox also includes filtering and EQ, distortion, a noise generator, and gating to complete the sonic destruction required. Original and distorted audio can be mixed in real-time to accommodate scene changes or other automation requirements.

    Features

    • Library of Synthetic Impulse Models (SIMs)
    • Configurable ‘futz’ effects including filtering, EQ, and distortion
    • Flexible noise generator with ducking capability
    • Hyper-sensitive gate for signal dropout effects
    • Double Precision Processing
    • Ultra Low Latency
    • Mono and Stereo versions

    Formats
    • Native v6: AAX Native, AU, VST

  • – Decimort recreates the colouration and adds the vintage sampler’s magic to any sound

Electronic music (especially Hip-Hop) producers have long been aware that classic samplers (such as early Akai and E-MU units) had a character and sound all their own: they added a “grit” and “color” to the samples and loops they played back which made them sound “Fat” and sit well in a mix. This sound coloration was due to the encoding techniques, lower sample rate, and bit depth, and conversion circuits used by these early samplers. Decimort recreates this coloration and adds that vintage sampler magic back to any loop, any bassline, or any sound played through it for that matter! Beyond vintage sampler emulation, it’s also the perfect bit-crusher with filter, capable of extreme settings for dramatic results.

  • Grit, oomph, fatness, raw, color, or just that certain something. Sometimes your sounds need a shovel of dirt. Faturator is standing ready to tear whatever you throw at it apart violently, and then gently (but firmly) put it back together fatter and rawer than ever.

  • A crush on music

Distortion and saturation play a very important role in music production. From subtle, clean and warm tube or tape saturation to the wildest multiband guitar amp effects: FabFilter Saturn 2 delivers.

Saturn 2 introduces a host of new features such as a redesigned interface with modulation visualization, new subtle saturation and linear phase processing for mastering, many new distortion styles, and more.

    Warmth, harmonics, color and dynamics

FabFilter Saturn 2 offers a range of different high quality distortion models, inspired by the vintage sound of tubes, tape, transformers and guitar amps. In addition, you get five creative FX distortion styles to mangle your sounds in weird and unexpected ways.

With its multiband design and per-band feedback, dynamics, drive, tone and modulation options, Saturn 2 will bring a unique flavor to your music.

    Bring your sounds to life

Add life and depth to your music using the extensive modulation section. By applying subtle modulation to crossover frequencies, dynamics, band levels or tone controls, great warmth and definition can be achieved.

With all the XLFOs, EGs, XY controllers/sliders, envelope followers and MIDI sources you will ever need, you get practically unlimited modulation possibilities. Creating new modulation connections could not be easier: just drag and drop. And Saturn 2 visualizes all modulation in real-time to show exactly what’s going on.

    FabFilter goodies

Finally, FabFilter Saturn 2 contains all the usual FabFilter goodies: perfectly tuned knobs, MIDI Learn, Smart Parameter Interpolation for smooth parameter transitions, interface resizing and full screen mode, support for Avid control surfaces, GPU-powered graphics acceleration, extensive help with interactive help hints, SSE optimization, and much more.

  • – Exquisitely Accurate Tube Amp Model

Tube Saturator 2 is a super accurate circuit simulation of a tube pre-amp with analog EQ, which can be overdriven gently for warming effects, or cranked for fat distortion. Like its predecessor, Tube Saturator, TS-2 is based on circuit simulation technology to capture every nuance of an analog circuit. The circuit consisting of the individual tubes, resistors, and capacitors is converted into a mathematical system of equations which is numerically solved to produce the exact same sound as a real circuit.

But while the original consumed large amounts of CPU power, TS-2 is now super-efficient. The Saturation section of TS-2 runs about 7x faster than the original and yet the modeling is even more accurate. TS-2 includes the original circuit simulation of the three-band Baxandall type EQ as found in many guitar amplifiers.

In addition to this breakthrough improvement in speed, TS-2 has many new features. You can switch between 12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes for different harmonic characteristics. The EQ can be switched to run pre or post-saturation. Saturation and EQ are separately switchable. Also, there is a 2x oversampling mode using a very high-quality resampler algorithm. Use 2x mode to attenuate aliased distortion harmonics. Also new is a mix control to blend the processed sound with the original. And finally, TS-2 has a gorgeous new interface.

  • – Redoptor is a high-quality Vintage Tube Distortion emulator

The organic sound of a tube amplifier being pushed into breakup has been the gold standard for as long as musicians have been experimenting with overdriven and distorted tones.
The gentle, natural compression and rich blend of even and odd harmonics produced by analog tube circuitry makes any signal feel more powerful, punchy, and alive. Unlike solid-state transistor and fuzz circuits which only produce odd harmonics and limit the incoming signal in a subjectively unnatural and unresponsive way, Redoptor smoothly responds to the dynamics of the source material, just like a real tube amp. This means that loud signals get saturated with more crunch and delicious harmonics, then return to their clean state gradually as their release tail decays. This enables dynamic, sonically pleasing distortions.

  • – The sweet spot in distortion domain

Devastor 2 is the second generation of D16’s first FX Plugin from the SilverLine Collection series. Devastor is a deceptively simple yet remarkable Multiband Distortion Unit. It is an enhanced version of the distortion unit you can find in Phoscyon, but with full control over multiband processing. This elevates its sonic mangling capabilities to an entirely new level!

The plug-in offers nine different connection topologies between its filters and diode-clipper. Filters can process the signal before or after it gets fed into the diode-clipper, but some of the configurations even allow the filters to work alongside the clipper, which greatly increases the possible sonic palette.

Devastor’s filters are not simply the peaking EQ type that are commonly used in classic multiband distortion units: rather, they are like those found in analog synthesizers (low pass, high pass, bandpass and band-reject) with adjustable resonance and cutoff parameters. As a result, Devastor has a completely unique sound. Just check out the factory content and hear for yourself!
