This week on A Sound Effect we have a doozy of a roundup with seven new sound libraries. In this recap you will find plenty of ambiences with sounds of winter fun, rural relaxation in Norway, and texture libraries including rocks that tumble to the dirt below, splashy streams, clicks and switches of a user interface, and foley of crumpling paper of all thicknesses. If you need ambiences and textures, this is a great week for you!
Rock n Roll Hits

As the demo says, 'Rock n Roll Hits' by Rob Castro SFX has rock and roll hits - literally! In this collection you will hear 49 sounds of stones doing what they do best - using gravity to tumble, roll, smash, slide, crunch, and thud onto the tree branches and dirt below. With a sample rate of 192kHz, these sounds can also help you design those pesky avalanches and monster-induced debris. If your scene is falling apart - literally - then give this library a listen.

Textrobot

  • TEXTROBOT is a NI Kontakt instrument designed to help you in the sound design of UI sounds and to produce retriggered samples for VFX text animations.

All 165 sounds are easily accessible using a MIDI master keyboard from the first octave. You can choose a category to load a set of samples and play it manually, or in the retriggered way (if active) by holding down the note. The full version of NI Kontakt is required to use this library.

    Sound categories:

Click (10 samples): very tight, clicky sounds for UI interface usage or small text VFX
Bleeps (16 samples): it contains bleeping sounds, tones, and alerts for telemetrics and sci-fisound design
Big Size (16 samples): a collection of low frequency sounds for big title animation
Percussive (22 samples): organic and processed percussive sounds like shakers, maracas, and woods for multimedia apps or menu sound design
Fun (30 samples): a collection of funny sounds for cartoonish motion graphics
Digital (20 samples): glitches and lo-fi sounds for experimental videos
Keys (28 samples): keyboards, typewriters, and mouse sounds
Mechanical (23 samples): switches, clangs, squeaks, and metal impact sounds for mechanic motion graphics

'Textrobot' by SoundFxWizard is a Kontakt instrument that blurs the line between language and UI. In this NKI you will get 165 distinct sounds with glitches and lo-fi hits, mechanical clangs and squeaks, taps on keyboards and mice, fun cartoon sounds, percussive shakers and maracas, and much more. Plus, this library allows you to think more with your hands and ears than your eyes, since it is MIDI keyboard accessible. If you you'd like a UI library to interact with, this is the one!
