9 new sound libraries Asbjoern Andersen

This week on A Sound Effect, we have new libraries with the unique sources you’ve been looking for. We have ambiences from La Gomera island, Kyivian subways, and Dutch windmills (but not the kind you’re thinking). We also have recordings from two vintage vehicles (one you could live inside), as well as EMF recordings, mech sounds, and abandoned doors from massive warehouses and mansions. Happy listening!
Windmills

  • Mechanical Sound Effects Windmills Play Track 27 sounds included, 62 mins total $20

This is the windmills sound effects archive from Morten Green Sound FX

27 soundfiles of totally 62 minutes of sound in 96 kHz 24 bit.

The windmills recorded in this archive are 6 old 45 metre tall windmills, generating electricity on the coast of the small Danish island Orø. They are rather old and worn out, so they generate a lot of interesting noises, especially when you get very close to them.

The structures are from metal, bolted into a concrete foundation with small openings, so you can actually get the microphones underneath the reverberant structure itself, for sounds from inside the windmills. The blades are made from glass fibre and pretty worn, so they give a lot of nice whistling noises.

There are recordings from many different distances to the windmills, ranging from 150 m to right underneath the windmill structure.

Most of the sound files are more than 2 minutes in length.

    Enjoy!

'Windmills' by Morten Green Sound FX has over an hour of sounds from 6 windmills off the coast of the Danish island Orø. With their worn glass fiber blades, these windmills create naturally screaming whistles and deep, hollow rumbles that can create uneasy ambiences for industrial areas and horrifying ambiences. You will hear these windmills from close-up perspectives from the inside and outside, as well as distant recordings all to way up to 150m away. For an interesting library that you won't find anywhere else, give this one a listen!

Bedford CA Dormobile

  • The Bedford CA was a British light utility vehicle, produced by Bedford Motors, based in Luton in the county of Bedfordshire, just north of London, U.K. Date of production from 1952 to 1969

It was available in many formats, including as a conversion to a small motorhome or R.V., known as The Dormobile, made by a company in Folkstone, Kent. It came complete with a table, bench seats that converted to beds, a simple bottled-gas cooker, a sink and a small closet. It also featured an expanding roof which allowed occupants to stand up in the rear section. This model dates from 1958 and is an early version.

All files are 96/24 and stereo, except the under bonnet (hood) recording, which is mono.

'Bedford CA Dormobile' by Immersive FX gets you the sounds of this mid-Twentieth Century British vehicle by Bedford Motors. In the motorhome model, known as The Dormobile, all the features of this apartment-on-wheels are recorded to include the sounds of its doors, engine, horn, sliding windows, closet, sink, gas cooker, and expanding roof! These vintage sounds will get you the details you need to inspire an iconic retro-futuristic vehicle for your project's alternative history. If you've never seen a camper van, especially from the '50s, you might be in for a surprise.

Abandoned Doors

  • Door Sound Effects Abandoned Doors Play Track 124+ sounds included, 53 mins total $120

Finding the right door sound can be a pain, thus Abandoned Doors was recorded with that need in mind.

All the 1400+ sounds were recorded in abandoned mansions and houses with unique sonic characteristics, in stereo, usually from two perspectives (inside the room and in the hallway), allowing you a great deal of choice and offering sonic diversity.

Additionally, splitting the stereo tracks into mono will give you two more slightly different perspectives on each sound.

The Abandoned Doors library offers a multitude of door recordings, ranging from heavy wooden doors found in turn of the century mansions to cheap old doors in an abandoned warehouse, being opened, closed, slammed, knocked on, kicked, banged on, and even hit with a bat.

Whilst most door libraries simply name files ‘door open 01’, etc, Abandoned Doors has been carefully tagged with rich SoundMiner metadata and multiple keywords, giving you a clearer image of what a file contains just by reading the title. For more information on what kinds of sounds are present in the library, feel free to consult the metadata file down below.

Also, if you’d like to know more about how I recorded this library, read my blog post here.

If you have any questions about this library, feel free to quickly send me an e-mail. I tend to reply within minutes.

Buy Abandoned Doors today and augment your sonic toolbox with over 1400+ door related sound effects, recorded at 24bit/96kHz in unique and inaccessible locations.

'Abandoned Doors' by SKYES Audio has over 1,400 sounds of doors with unique characteristics. From the perspective of both inside the room and in the hallway, this library captures sounds of heavy mansion doors and metal doors in an abandoned warehouse. It includes multiple intensities, various types of knocks and jiggling of the handles, as well as kicking the door in, using a key, shaking the door, and letting it slowly squeak open. If your project takes place in a wide-open interior area like a large workshop or even a torture chamber, these are the sounds you want introducing your listeners to the scene.

Junk Cars

  • Vehicle Sound Effects Junk Cars Play Track 7+ sounds included $110

The first car in the library is a 1995 Opel/Vauxhall/Holden Astra with a 1.6 liter Petrol engine, a broken exhaust and in a very sorry state. It wasn’t roadworthy when I found it, but with a little help from a car mechanic we managed to get it on the road.

Important! More cars will be added to the collection as they are recorded. Get your copy now and you will receive all subsequent updates for free.

    Please note:

    • ENFORCER is a software plugin (VST, AU, AAX) for Windows & Mac. It requires an audio host software, and does not work as a standalone application.
    • ENFORCER works with the most common audio host software apps that support VST 2.4, AU or AAX plugins, such as Logic Pro, Pro Tools (11+), Cubase, Nuendo, Ableton Live, Reaper.

iLok is an industry standard that we use to manage our BOOM Interactive software licenses (Please note: iLok is NOT required to work with our regular BOOM Library Sound FX packs). For ENFORCER, there are two different types of iLok protection available:

MACHINE LICENSE: This activation option is FREE. You can deposit the software license on the computer where you’re running the software. You don’t need an additional iLok USB device. All you need is a valid account on www.ilok.com and the free iLok license manager software.

USB-DONGLE: If you already own a 2nd generation or newer portable iLok USB device, you can deposit the license on the device instead of your computer. Please note that a lot of software plug in creators use the iLok system, so if you already own a 2nd generation (or newer) iLok USB device, you don’t need to purchase another one and if you purchase an iLok USB device now you can use it with software from other manufacturers (one iLok to rule them all).

An iLok device can be purchased directly at ilok.com or – if you want to purchase from outside the USA – here. Additionally, you can get an iLok device from the most music or audio software retailers.

'Enforcer' by BOOM Library is a bass plug-in that will make your floors rumble. Coming in VST, AU, and AAX format for Windows and Mac, this project can add punch to your weapon sounds, synthetic bass to your popular music, and kick to your drums, with tunable bass energy and tons of presets. You will also get all the standard filters and the ability to duck your beats within the plug-in for that pulsing feel. Check out the demo and feel your subwoofers come alive!

  • Animal Sound Effects Forests and Mountains Play Track 96+ sounds included, 220 mins total $110

Forest and Mountains features nature and wildlife sounds from California, Washington, and Oregon.  Included are a number of bird recordings and forest ambiences, along with some insects, winds, rivers, and rain.

These were recorded over the past three years in various forests, foothills, and mountain environments.   A lot of these took place in or near Southern California’s Angeles Forest and San Gabriel Mountains, an area that spans 1200 Square Miles and varies vastly in terrain.

Also included are some sounds from Northern California, along with recordings from the Pacific Northwest.

The recording techniques for this varied as sometimes I went with the recorders running unattended to capture night, dawn and early morning.  Other times I’d record while being close by.

Working as a Sound Effects Editor I’ve curated this collection with Editors in mind.  Background Ambiences and Spotted FX can really bring a location to life and give it so much story and character and that was a lot of the inspiration behind putting this all together.

    Forests and Mountains

    The Locations

California (61 Files) – This is where a majority of the sounds from this library were recorded and specifically Southern California.  Variety of areas and different environments, mostly around Angeles Forest, from Lower Elevation Foothills to more rugged mid-elevation Mountain Canyons and then much Higher Elevation and more remote terrain.  Also included are a few recordings from the Eastern Sierras and Northern California.

Washington (19 Files) – Southern WA in Gifford Pinchot Forest and various Northwest Forest areas near Puget Sound.

Oregon (16 Files) – Lakeside Recordings in forest and marsh at Klamath Lake in SE Oregon.

General Forest (9) – A mix of some wildlife (Chipmunk, Deer, Bullfrogs), and more general lighter forest ambiences.
Insects (7) – Crickets from various perspectives and different forests along with some Grasshoppers.
Rain (4) Light to heavier in a canyon with dense vegetation, some with distant birds.
Rivers (5) Smaller detailed creeks to faster moving rivers.
Wind (11)  A mix of calm to heavier with gusts, vegetation, and tree creaks.
    Metadata
Detailed with descriptions and markers and photos to easily navigate and allow for options when searching.  UCS was used to categorize and various bird species are identified.  I’ve also labeled the metadata with what I consider Lower Elevation (up to 1500 feet), Middle Elevation (2000-5000 feet), and Higher Elevation (above 5000 feet).   Included are the season of the year which was mostly Spring and Summer.  Using Open-Tier in Soundminer you can use these to help get a bit more specific to particular environments.

  • Hello Creators!

Here’s my new pack: “General UI Sounds“

General UI Sounds · The Sound Guild

I wanted to create a sound pack to cover different situations in an user interface.
I hope you enjoy implementing this sounds in your project!

    Making-Off

All this sounds were originally recorded with a Zoom H6 (cardiod microphone), and were processed in Logic Pro X, mainly editing the recorded material but also I used the Logix Pro X sampler.

    Some considerations

    1. Keep in mind this sounds can be used in a variety of situations, I put a name to the SFX but this doesn’t mean it can’t be used in other contexts.

    2. The sounds are in 44.1Khz/16 bit format. I have the original files at 96khz/24bit also, if you need this format, please contact me.
