New Sound Effects: Drones, Dreidels - And Microbes!

This week we have new libraries that can meet your specific needs or give you fresh sounds to experiment with. You can hear drones with a warm ’80s sound a la Stranger Things, as well as dreidels spinning on a variety surfaces and a construction kit library that will take you inside a Petri dish. If you’re looking for memorable textures with “that certain something”, you might find them here. Happy listening!

Microbes

Creature Sound Effects Microbes Play Track 326 sounds included $37

Microbes is 76 minutes/2.12 Gb of microscopic life forms skittering and scurrying about in their strange world. 326 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz using various microphones. UCS-compliant.

A construction kit of the sounds you need to design organisms on the microscopic level. Whether you’re making a medical animation, a nature documentary or something entirely fictional, Microbes delivers in skittering, fluttering and slithering sounds. Anything from single-cell organisms to complex insects is possible. Sounds are grouped in a variety of creature “species”, allowing you to create different voices with a good amount of nuance in performance. You also get a range of bubbling and swarming sounds, as well as wet and slimy elements. To complete your microscopic universe, there are a number of abstract and otherworldly ambiances.

Sounds were created using various physical instruments and props, such as a hardware modular synth, bowed metal springs, a cactus and good fashioned old voice acting. No actual microbes were harmed (or even consulted) during production. You can read more about the creation of Microbes here.

With over three hours of content, you'll get all the dreidel sounds you'll need for several Hanukkahs to come.

Drones & Pads Vol. 01

'Drones & Pads Vol. 01' by Bony Stoev has an hour and 14 minutes of stylish and emotive drones that will provide your sci-fi and horror projects a thick atmosphere. Most of the drones were recorded as analog effects, giving your project a warm, vintage edge that's incredibly popular right now. These pads range from low pumping ambiences straight out of a dark urban alleyway to washes of musical textures. All together you get 28 drones, so if you're looking for moody, retro-futuristic backgrounds (that are 50% off at the moment), give this one a listen.

Bird Sound Effects Seagulls Play Track 28+ sounds included $35

The Seagulls sfx library includes 28 tracks of both single, isolated seagull screams, and bigger flocks of nesting seagulls, calling out to each other and their chicks. There are plenty of classic call sounds, but also some weird throaty and raspy screaming, and what could sound like seagull laughing sounds.

All tracks are recorded with the very useful zoom function of the Telinga microphone and dish.
Library includes both untreated tracks, and noise reduction processed tracks in two separate folders. Noise reduction processed tracks have carefully been cleaned up with a CEDAR NR system.

Though these birds are in an abundance around most harbours and industry around here, they are not always easy to record. You mostly hear them from a distance, or from places not easy to access. When you try to get close to them, they will usually fly away.

Many hours have been spent on rooftops, gardens, backyards, a junkyard, and different harbours to get this material.
