Lots of great new sound effects libraries were released by the indie community, and they’re going to make you want to take a vacation! You’ll hear calm ambiences from Tasmania, sounds from northern fishing villages in Norway, and waves along the shores of the Norwegian Sea. You’ll also hear sounds of the inner-workings of an Arvor 215 fishing boat and an ERF E14 tractor-trailer, a detailed library of gutters and drains, the delicate tones of wine glasses, experimental clocks, and a sci-fi pack that get you everything from guns to interfaces. You’re in for a mid-week treat!
Clocks Vol. 2

'Clocks Vol. 2' is the second installment of Badlands Sound's experimental timekeeper library. Each of its 33 files is one minute of loopable ticking sounds that came from metal, plastic, a metronome, and a grandfather clock. They were also recorded at 96kHz giving you the chance to create even more types of clocks. If you're looking for a memorable tick-tock sound for your project, look no further.

VirtualTruck: ERF E14 Soundpack

  • This soundpack contains all you need to recreate the sonic environment of the ERF E14 tractor unit.

This particular vehicle is owned by John Mayle, who has preserved it following its withdrawal from the UK Mines Rescue Service. John's father has restored a number of heritage trucks at his workshop near Newark, Nottinghamshire.

    Features:

    • Dashboard/driving cab foley.
    • Long-play on-board recordings demonstrating real life driving scenarios (including a rather testing incline) from both exterior and interior perspective.
    • Seamless sound loops of engine running at steady speeds throughout the entire RPM range from both exterior and interior perspective.
    • Exterior pass-bys and other roadside recordings.
    • Trailer foley including uncoupling procedure.
'VirtualTruck: ERF E14 Soundpack' by Infrastructure Recordings features this semi-truck from lots of perspectives. You can hear the engine rumble through the range of its RPMs from inside the cabin (in seamless loops!), nearby on the outside, and through various passbys. It also has lots of foley of the dashboard, windows and doors, as well as recordings of the trailer during the uncoupling procedure. If you want your character to take a ride in this beast, this library should have you covered!

Arvor 215 Boat

  • Ship Sound Effects Boat Engine – Arvor 215 Play Track 39+ sounds included, 167 mins total $32

Arvor 215 boat sound library features recordings of the boat’s diesel engine in sync with its propeller. Onboard sound effects were recorded with two DPA 4061 microphones, taped under the “hood” and on the back of the boat, near the propeller. Inside this library you’ll find engine on and off sounds, running on neutral gear and three recordings of boat working on different settings.

There is a low, medium and high speed/rpm, each starting with engine being turned on, and than slowly going to desired speed. It’s easy to mix those recordings, and change their pitch, because of the 96kHz sample rate.

    Sounds included:

    Engine Mono Mix 1 and 2 – 8 files, 28 minutes

    Engine Stereo Mix 1 and 2 – 8 files, 28 minutes

Engine RAW files – 12 files, 42 minutes

    Other files – 11 files, 49 minutes

Domestic Glass Harp

  • Have you ever done that party trick where you can get a wine glass to “sing” by running your finger around the rim?

Have you ever been curious about using multiple glasses to create music?

This sound library contains several sets of sounds featuring glasses tuned to specific pitches, which can easily be dropped into your sampler on your digital audio workstation to create wonderful ethereal pads and effects.

    Features:

    • Numerous tuned sound sets demonstrating the pitch range of average household wine glasses.
    • “Singing” wine glass sounds recorded whilst circling the rim at both slow and fast speeds.
    • “Struck” sounds recorded by striking the glasses softly as well as hard.
    • Resonant sounds achieved by bowing across the rim, giving high-pitched crystal-like chime sounds.
    • Vibrato and other pitch-bending effects achieved by altering the water inside the glass during recording.
    • Bonus filling and spilling water sounds.

This library also features FREE bonus Kalimba sounds recorded from a traditional hand-made mbira!

Harbours Of Norway

  • Water & Ocean Sounds Harbours Of Norway Play Track 25+ sounds included, 167 mins total $32

Harbours Of Norway sound library features 25 files with ambients recorded in Myre, Sto and Nyksund, very small towns with direct access to the sea. Most of the sound effects were recorded at night, but since it’s a polar day time of the year, it was very pleasurable to walk and look for convenient places to set up my gear. Everything was recorded with an ORTF setup built from two Sennheisers MKH 8040.

Inside this library, you’ll find a lot of seagulls, waves crushing on the rocks and plants, windy ambients from the cliff, industrial sound from port in Myre with ship unloading the cargo, walla with steam engine boats and additional sounds from the boat engine market, and air cooling aggregates from food containers.

Every file was recorded in 96kHz, edited (I removed any unintentional bumps, pops and unwanted sounds). I limited EQing to removing harsh frequencies, or enhancing a little bit the good sounding ones. At the end of the chain there is a small compression, for louder sounds.
