In these brand-new SFX libraries, you will find SFX dedicated to the booms of European tanks, the hollow gusts of open field wind, the pitter patter and stomps of group running, the twists and drops of cinematic trailers, the whirring of dentistry tools, the rattling and humming of a ferry, and the pop, scrape and hum of power tools. With such a multitude of different sounds, you’re sure to find something you like!
The Dentist Office

  • Mechanical Sound Effects The Dentist Office Play Track 100 sounds included, 25 mins total $39

Dr. Daniels is the only dentist I’ve ever known and he was gracious enough to let me roam around his office after hours collecting these sounds.

The intent was to gather source material for hi-tech gadgetry so the library contains a nice selection of tools and equipment including drills, a mouth vacuum, an ultrasonic water sprayer, dental lathe, dental kiln, a creepy sounding dentist chair and a wicked cool CEREC machine (diamond tipped milling machine that cuts dental implants).

The handheld tools are “performed” so as to create movement, pass by’s and simulate power fluctuations.

'The Dentist Office' by Big Room Sound Inc is a fun collection of all the tools you'd find in the place no one wants to visit. This library contains over 100 sounds of dentistry performed like foley to include fluctuations, movements and passbys. It contains dentist drills revving at different speeds, a mouth vacuum that hisses, a water sprayer spraying at different lengths, and a dental lathe that hums and switches on and off. The library even features objects from around the office like a creepy dentist chair that squeaks and groans, hands-free pneumatic cupboard doors that open and close, and room tone from the dentist lab. If you need sounds that remind you of your semi-annual visit, this is one to hear.

Human Stampede

  • Footsteps Sound Effects Human Stampede Play Track 13 sounds included, 18 mins total $7

Human Stampede was recorded across multiple marathon races and captures the sound of footsteps of large crowds of runners. The idea was to capture long takes in stereo with minimal or non-existent crowd chatter to get stereo recordings that are useful for scenes of riots, warfare or even a plain old fun run.

'Human Stampede' by Squeaky Fish is a small collection of multiple marathons and hard-core runners as they compete for the gold. It includes groups of athletes running on concrete roads and dirt tracks as they vary the rhythm and light-footedness of their steps. Though the numbers may be large, there is minimal or non-existent crowd chatter to allow flexible use in projects. This library also not only works for stampedes, riots, zombies and more, it also includes a few bonus tracks of armor rattling and heavy stomping just for fun! For the price of two bottles of Gatorade, this library won't make a dent on your wallet, but it will make an impact on your project!

Useful Winds

  • Useful Winds contains 17 decoded ms recordings of various types of wind, both interior and exterior. From a mild breeze through an Irish field to a storm gale atop of a Spanish hill, the library delivers a vast array of windy goodness. Recorded with Schoeps mk4/mk8 & SoundDevices MixPre-D.

'Useful Winds' by Felix Davin is exactly what it says. This collection features 17 decoded MS recordings of pure wind as it whistles, gusts, and overwhelms in ways that sound cold, hollow, intense and more. You will find wind pouring over of Irish fields, strong hollow gusts dusting around fences, stormy gales sweeping across Spanish hills, and wind whistling through closed windows, doors and chimney vents. The files also vary from one minute to over ten minutes, allowing most files to have multiple loops points. Once you listen to this library, you will realize how useful it is!

Chain Ferry

  • Chain Ferry features the remarkable sounds of a 100 year old ferry with a specific drive system. The ferry pulls along a strong chain lying at the ground of the river to cross. This is achieved by a clever combination of 3 drive wheels that guide the chain and prevent it from dropping to the ground.

The Library contains several complete audio takes of the ferry in action – from departure to arrival. This encompasses engine start, engine idle, loading ramp noises and bangs plus a lot of chain rattling from various perspectives. The sounds are recorded aboard and from both sides of the river so that the entire scenery can be covered acoustically.

    Chain Ferry Sound Library
'Chain Ferry' is made by the master of close-up machine recordings, Stephan Marche from Detunized. His new library has sounds of a 100 year-old ferry and all its moving parts with its chains, engine, ramp, gears, and pulleys. You will find close-up sounds of loud rattling onboard the ferry, droning vibrations from the watercraft's body, banging from the ramp as it lowers, rumbling from the engine as it starts and idles, and much more. Each file is between one minute and four and a half minutes to allow for complex variations and hundreds of individual sounds in this near one-hour library. From departure to arrival, this library should come in handy for any large machines and vehicles with exposed moving parts in your project.

Power Tools

'Power Tools' by Glad Sound Libraries is a collection of sounds you'd find in a carpenter's shop. It includes different types of saws, screwdrivers, planers, hot air guns, and a sewing machine. In this library you will find some of the sounds are performed while others are nearly half a minute long - and with a sample rate of 96 kHz, these sounds can definitely be stretched into sounds of evil robots, menacing drones, or spaceship engines. It also contains several takes of each machines to allow for intricate design. For less than the price of any tool featured, this library a definitely worth a listen.

Swedish Tanks

'Swedish Tanks' by Glad Sound Libraries has huge, close-up sounds of war that complement their earlier release, 'Infantry Soldiers'. The massive fighting machine featured in this library rumbles and roars by for 41 sounds of incredibly visceral and realistic sounds. It drives around, parks, idles and shoots blanks aimed at the recorder from 70 meters away. The library also includes the sounds of a Gripen fighter jet as it rips through the sky. • Animal Sound Effects Forests and Mountains Play Track 96+ sounds included, 220 mins total $110

Forest and Mountains features nature and wildlife sounds from California, Washington, and Oregon.  Included are a number of bird recordings and forest ambiences, along with some insects, winds, rivers, and rain.

These were recorded over the past three years in various forests, foothills, and mountain environments.   A lot of these took place in or near Southern California’s Angeles Forest and San Gabriel Mountains, an area that spans 1200 Square Miles and varies vastly in terrain.

Also included are some sounds from Northern California, along with recordings from the Pacific Northwest.

The recording techniques for this varied as sometimes I went with the recorders running unattended to capture night, dawn and early morning.  Other times I’d record while being close by.

Working as a Sound Effects Editor I’ve curated this collection with Editors in mind.  Background Ambiences and Spotted FX can really bring a location to life and give it so much story and character and that was a lot of the inspiration behind putting this all together.

    Forests and Mountains

    The Locations

General Forest (9) – A mix of some wildlife (Chipmunk, Deer, Bullfrogs), and more general lighter forest ambiences.
Insects (7) – Crickets from various perspectives and different forests along with some Grasshoppers.
Rain (4) Light to heavier in a canyon with dense vegetation, some with distant birds.
Rivers (5) Smaller detailed creeks to faster moving rivers.
Wind (11)  A mix of calm to heavier with gusts, vegetation, and tree creaks.
    Metadata
Detailed with descriptions and markers and photos to easily navigate and allow for options when searching.  UCS was used to categorize and various bird species are identified.  I’ve also labeled the metadata with what I consider Lower Elevation (up to 1500 feet), Middle Elevation (2000-5000 feet), and Higher Elevation (above 5000 feet).   Included are the season of the year which was mostly Spring and Summer.  Using Open-Tier in Soundminer you can use these to help get a bit more specific to particular environments.

    Making-Off

All this sounds were originally recorded with a Zoom H6 (cardiod microphone), and were processed in Logic Pro X, mainly editing the recorded material but also I used the Logix Pro X sampler.

    Some considerations

    1. Keep in mind this sounds can be used in a variety of situations, I put a name to the SFX but this doesn’t mean it can’t be used in other contexts.

    2. The sounds are in 44.1Khz/16 bit format. I have the original files at 96khz/24bit also, if you need this format, please contact me.
