summer wind earthquake door sound effects Asbjoern Andersen

This week we have several treats for you: Hzandbits has released three new urban libraries with construction, city wind, and Tokyo life. The Endorphin Sound Library offers memorable shoreline ambiences. Sound Ex Machina captures the romantic set of a Mediterranean holiday. The Sound Keeper has released the most in-depth everyday door library you’ll find anywhere. And finally, The Red Libraries once again captures their sources’ fine exquisite details — this time with mid-millennial apparatus.
World of Secrets

  • Foley Sound Effects World of Secrets Play Track 149-1718+ sounds included From: $50

World Of Secrets is a collection inspired by those mysterious and beautiful objects and furniture, meticulously designed by 15th to 19th century’s craftsmen. Those geniuses used their art to protect what had to remain confidential or secret.

One of the mentors of that art was Leonardo Da Vinci, master of inventions, designing incredible mechanisms for his machines. After much research, and a large photo review session, Red Libraries has designed this collection of modules to assemble as you wish.
A bookcase, a desk, a sarcophagus, a hidden door, a statuette, a cane with a retractable blade, a poison ring, an old grimoire.. each of them will reveal its secret mechanism, from the delicate parts assembled by the jeweler, to the smooth slides of hinges designed by the cabinetmaker.

    Three versions are available
    + a complete bundle:

'World of Secrets’ by The Red libraries is a mechanical artisan/sound designer’s dream. This library has the Neo-Victorian sounds of delightful contraptions designed by 15th to 19th century craftsmen. With sounds of hidden doors, bookcases, desks, cupboards, cases, sarcophagi, grimoires, a cane with a retractable blade and more, this library covers much more than common household furniture. It has sounds of rubbing wood and stone, clicking and sliding gears, mechanical ticking, rolling metal balls, and thousands of other textures that are so distinct and magical, you will easily invent new machines with this complex and unforgettable library.

Ocean Ambience: Rocky Coastline, Vol 1

The same old waves hitting the same old rocks is not what you'll find in 'Ocean Ambience: Rocky Coastline, Vol 1’ by Endorphin Sound Library. This library proves just how much satisfaction can be found in the character of unique shoreline crashes and sizzles. With rocks dragged by waves, thick immersive coastal winds, blubbering slaps to rocky shores, sizzling pebbles, gentle laps, and more, these sounds transport you to the rocky beach. It also has several perspectives from extreme close-ups of coarse sand to distant reflections along the shore. For more than just 'whoosh' in your waves collection, give this library a listen.

Shakes and Rattles

  • Destruction & Impact Sounds Shakes and Rattles Play Track 751 sounds included, 47 mins total $35

It's time to seriously shake things up, earthquake-style.

The need for these types of sounds came when we had to create various objects being shaken during an earthquake. In Shakes and Rattles you will find various objects being shaken in multiple ways. Shakes and Rattles includes 751 sounds in 37 audio files embedded with detailed metadata, and each audio file starts with short shakes and progresses toward medium and longer shakes.

Materials used: Laundry clips in a bowl, card box, plastic and wooden chair, metal clips, closet and shower cabin doors, locks, drawers, runner slides, bottles, grape press handle, handles, keys (metal and with plastic accessories), nails, screws, toolbox, table, stand, Tupperware and other various objects combined.

Bonus: Like with Antisample's other products, Shakes and rattles come with a set of bonus files which include 46 additional designed abstract sounds. These were designed to be more sci-fi, transformer like sounds.

'Shakes and Rattles’ by Antisample is a library dedicated to its titular motion. With 37 files, this collection features all the household items you’d find rattling in an earthquake—tables, tupperware, nails and screws, keys, handles, bottles, drawers, locks, doors, chairs, and more. It also features designed sounds, plus you can hear some of them pitch-bent on their Soundcloud. If you are looking for 'household oscillation', this is your library.

Normal Doors

  • Door Sound Effects Normal Doors Play Track 1400+ sounds included, 70 mins total $79

Normal, everyday door sounds? Yes – and lots (and lots) of them!

A door opening or closing in a film/tv show/video game can absolutely take you out of the experience if done incorrectly.

At the end of working on Uncharted 4, the last sound I created was a door opening and closing. It was just a normal household door. I couldn't find any good door opening and closing sounds (and creaks…don't get me started). I also didn't have time to go out and record my own source. I was extremely frustrated.

There are a LOT of different types of doors in this world. Most sound libraries try to record ALL varieties of doors. The problem is that you might have a lot of different and unique doors, but only a couple of NORMAL house doors. Or, they just have a couple of NORMAL industrial doors. A sound designer's worst nightmare is lack of variety and choice.

With that in mind, I went on a personal journey to record all the normal doors I could find. I recorded door openings, closings, squeaks and creaks. That's it! I wanted the largest variety of normal house and industrial door openings/closings/creaks/squeaks on the market. For my next projects, I didn't want a door sound getting me frustrated!

    Normal Doors gets you:

    • Normal Household Door sound effects
    • Normal Industrial Door sound effects
    • 1400+ Sounds
    • 120+ Doors
    • Opening, Closing, Squeaking and Creaking
    • Stereo 96Khz, 24 bit – 2.48 GB
    • Metadata included for programs like Soundminer

‘Normal Doors’ came out of the frustration The Sound Keeper founder Jeremy Roger felt when needing an appropriate household door sound for Uncharted 4 - with a strict ship date to uphold. Seeing a lack of variety, he decided to publish this film and game-ready door SFX library which contains a MASSIVE 1400+ sounds from over 120 doors. I doubt he’ll ever be caught needing a door sound in crunch time again - and with this library, neither will you!

Urban Winds II

  • Weather Sound Effects Urban Winds II Play Track 29 sounds included, 65 mins total $26

Urban Winds II gets you 65 minutes (2 GB) of medium and high-wind sounds in 29 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz M/S stereo (decoded to X/Y stereo and mono), using Sennheiser MKH micophones. All files are UCS-compliant.

You get empty streets and alleys, office exteriors and a marina. You get steel wires that whistle and whip in the wind, pipes and cavities resonating in the gusts. You get ambiances and a few specifics. I have tried to strike the balance between variety and nuance, to give you sound pros something to build a scene around. In that sense, this really is a construction kit of sorts. This collection picks off where Urban Winds left off.

You will hear very little human activity – other than distant traffic. I recorded mostly at night, and in large, undisturbed areas.

In some of the recordings, you will hear wind buffeting – more of the windscreen than the microphones – but there is some. In some cases, I opted to tame the most violent events, but others I left in. In many cases, wind noise reduction simply took away too much of the forcefulness, so I left it as is.

Some specifics appear in both mono and stereo versions, where the stereo version are X/Y derived from the M/S source files and the mono versions are simply the Mid channel. I did this, because most people seem to prefer X/Y files for post-work, rather than M/S – but a down-mix of X/Y to mono would be inferior to using the original Mid-mic signal. All sounds were captured in Aarhus, Denmark.

    Urban Winds 2 delivers:
    • Howling, moaning, whistling wind sounds
    • Wind-battered city ambiances
    • X/Y Stereo and Mono sounds (decoded from M/S)
    • Metadata included in CSV and ODS (OpenOffice) formats – here’s a PDF preview:
'Urban Winds II’ extends this inner-city wind concept by hzandbits. While some wind libraries have no more personality and distinguishment than procedural generation, this library features the physical effects of wind in urban environments. There are whistling steel wires, resonating pipes, howling wind through traffic, clattering flagpoles, leaves and debris being violently thrown around, and more. These 29 tracks will not only give your scenes more natural detail, they will give your project life.

Construction Ambiances II

  • Industrial Ambiences Construction Ambiances II Play Track 31 sounds included, 78 mins total $26

Construction Ambiances II is just over 2,4 Gb of loud and lively recordings of modern construction sites, a total of 78 minutes/31 files, all in 24bit/96kHz quality and UCS-compliant

Just like Construction Ambiances, this sound effects collection is stuffed with clean, ambient recordings of excavators, trucks, cranes, pile-drivers, drilling concrete, cutting re-bar, shoveling rubble, etc, etc. Recorded in Denmark, but with intelligible Danish words edited out, so should be very clean. Many individual sounds are over 3 minutes in length and recorded from more than one perspective, giving you more flexibility in your productions.

Construction Ambiances and Construction Ambiances II contain sounds from the same locations and sessions, which makes them perfect together – but each can be used on it’s own as well.

As always, you get searchable filenames and comprehensive metadata in CSV and ODS (OpenOffice) format. This allows you to import the metadata into your favorite librarian software.

    Construction Ambiances II gets you:

    • Clean, lively ambient recordings of construction sites – internal and external
    • BWAV metadata embedded with even more included in CSV and ODS (OpenOffice) formats

'Construction Ambiances II’ by hzandbits is 78 minutes of excavators, trucks, cranes, pile-drivers, drilling concrete, cutting re-bar, shoveling rubble, and more. Though it was record in Denmark, any intelligible words have been removed to make this library fit any B-roll. While some of these sounds are recorded outside the work zone—capturing long concrete and metal reverberations—many are also up close and personal, featuring tasks such as grinding and earthmoving. For construction ambiences that are ready to be designed into debris, crashes, and more, check out this library.

Tokyo Tourist

  • City Life Sound Effects Tokyo Tourist Play Track 34 sounds included, 79 mins total $42

Tokyo Tourist is more than 2.5 GBof sound from different locations in Tokyo and beyond.
34 recordings/79 minutes of stereo recordings featuring temples, trains, religious processions and much more – this library takes you to some of the locations a tourist might visit, all in 24bit/96kHz quality. All files are UCS-compliant.

Recording with the same setup as Tokyo – Outdoor Ambiances, I went to Shinjuku station and Gyoen Park. I recorded the Kanda festival procession in the streets of Akihabara, captured the infernal sound in a video game arcade – just to name a few of the sounds in this library.

    Tokoy Tourist delivers:

    • Clean, realistic ambient recordings of interesting locations
    • Traffic, temples, parks, trains, people, people, people…
    • All sounds recorded with the same microphones – in the same setup (spaced-omni)

The humble plunger has turned out to be an excellent source of watery monster sounds!

And with The Plunger SFX library, you get 300+ sounds (24 bit/96 KHz) to work with, created using the plunger and a bucket filled with water in two locations (Room and Vine cellar reverb).
20 sea monster sounds as well as some stretched examples are already included with the pack, and you can easily make more yourself.

In addition you also get the dry version of the samples (we removed the reverb), body hits with the plunger (!) and blowing bubbles with the straw.

So why did we record that plunger in the first place? The reason is that we needed to create some watery monster sounds that sounded organic. Stretching the sound and applying some effects gave us the result we wanted. You can do the same and take it even further with your sound design skills.

We hope the samples will serve you well and make sure to check out the demos of the original and bonus sounds.

    Bonus – Free whooshes:

  • Animal Sound Effects Forests and Mountains Play Track 96+ sounds included, 220 mins total $110

Forest and Mountains features nature and wildlife sounds from California, Washington, and Oregon.  Included are a number of bird recordings and forest ambiences, along with some insects, winds, rivers, and rain.

These were recorded over the past three years in various forests, foothills, and mountain environments.   A lot of these took place in or near Southern California’s Angeles Forest and San Gabriel Mountains, an area that spans 1200 Square Miles and varies vastly in terrain.

Also included are some sounds from Northern California, along with recordings from the Pacific Northwest.

The recording techniques for this varied as sometimes I went with the recorders running unattended to capture night, dawn and early morning.  Other times I’d record while being close by.

Working as a Sound Effects Editor I’ve curated this collection with Editors in mind.  Background Ambiences and Spotted FX can really bring a location to life and give it so much story and character and that was a lot of the inspiration behind putting this all together.

    Metadata
Detailed with descriptions and markers and photos to easily navigate and allow for options when searching.  UCS was used to categorize and various bird species are identified.  I’ve also labeled the metadata with what I consider Lower Elevation (up to 1500 feet), Middle Elevation (2000-5000 feet), and Higher Elevation (above 5000 feet).   Included are the season of the year which was mostly Spring and Summer.  Using Open-Tier in Soundminer you can use these to help get a bit more specific to particular environments.

  • Hello Creators!

Here’s my new pack: “General UI Sounds“

General UI Sounds · The Sound Guild

I wanted to create a sound pack to cover different situations in an user interface.
I hope you enjoy implementing this sounds in your project!

    Making-Off

All this sounds were originally recorded with a Zoom H6 (cardiod microphone), and were processed in Logic Pro X, mainly editing the recorded material but also I used the Logix Pro X sampler.

    Some considerations

    1. Keep in mind this sounds can be used in a variety of situations, I put a name to the SFX but this doesn’t mean it can’t be used in other contexts.

    2. The sounds are in 44.1Khz/16 bit format. I have the original files at 96khz/24bit also, if you need this format, please contact me.
