It's time to introduce you to the new libraries released by the talented creators of the A Sound Effect community. In this recap, hear sounds of irregular coughs, falling rocks, adventures in scuba gear, vintage '60s fire trucks, pill bottle Foley, fast-paced food service, harsh screeching metal, intense UI effects, heavy duty chain saws and leaf blowers, versatile paper product handling, bloodthirsty serial killers, mini VWs, exciting ATVs, and a van that has seen better days.

Cough Mini Library

'Cough Mini Library' by SoundsGreat is a mini cough library. There are 5 people in this library: a senior woman, senior man, young woman, young man and a child (boy). Various coughs were recorded: light, medium and hard; plus, the boy has asthma and the man has COPD (chronic obtrusive pulmonary disease).

Gravity Volume 1

'Gravity Volume 1' by Pure Libraries consists of impact and drag effects for several materials in 9 different categories. It has realistic sounds that were minimally compressed and can be used as a base for physics simulation or Foley. All sounds have been edited to single takes per file, grouped per material in their own folders.
 
  • Fabric Sound Effects Gravity Volume 1 Play Track 1009 sounds included $36

    Gravity volume 1 consists of impact and drag effects for several materials in 9 different categories. As the first release in this series, we focused on a selection of materials to cover. We set the aim to record realistic sounds that are minimally compressed and can be used as a base for physics simulation or foley.

    All sounds have been edited to single takes per file, grouped per material in their own folders. In addition, each individual file has META data included. This gives you quick access to the sounds you need without losing that creative flow.

    For scrapes and drags, we recorded long takes which can be used for the construction of loops.
    As an extra, we included takes which resulted in interesting textures or sounds, suitable for any sort of creative use you can come up with!

    Volume 1 includes: cardboard, cloth, tin can, solid metal, hollow metal, small wood, solid wood, and hollow wood.

    Recorded with two different mics, AKG C391B and Sennheiser MKH 40-P48.

    Stereo recordings are in XY mic setup (AKG C391B X2).

'International Loadstar 1600 Fire Truck Anno 1966' by On The Fly Audio covers a wide range of sounds produced by this rare vintage Fire Truck from 1966, with an 8-valve V-304 engine. Besides the driving sounds there are also a lot of Foley recordings to make this vehicle come to life in any production. All in 96/24 BWAV-files with extensive metadata.

    This sound collection covers a wide range of sounds produced by this rare vintage Fire Truck from 1966, with a 8 valve V-304 engine. Besides the driving sounds there are also a lot of Foley recordings to make this vehicle come to life in any production. All in high quality 96/24 BWAV-files, recorded with high end equipment. All sounds include extensive metadata.

    The recordings are multitrack. For the onboard sounds you’ll find synchronized recordings of engine (mono), exhaust (mono, and only for the driving sequences), cabin ceiling (stereo), cabin dashboard center (mono) and cargo area (mono). For the roadside recordings I used a Sennheiser MKH8070 to chase the passing vehicle.

    Mind you that some sounds may sound very silent. This is to preserve the relative loudness between different perspectives. Place the different perspectives in sync on separate tracks in your DAW and adjust the balance.

'Slaughter' by 344 Audio features the sounds of a serial killer who is waiting in his torture house to inflict the worst pain you can imagine!     Flesh, Bones & Gore is a collection of gruesome gore sounds including heavy chopping of body parts with a sword, axe and guillotine, crushing bones, peeling skin, ripping out and squeezing of guts and much, much more.
    Our Audio Craftsmen recorded sounds in our dedicated foley suite using vegetables, a variety of meats and other foods. These effects were specifically designed and edited so that you can use them in your horror-thriller projects. All included files are available in 96kHz/24Bit which allows you for further pitch shifting and manipulation.

    The library contains six folders:
    Bone Cracks: Heavy bone cracks and breaking of fingers.

    Gore Impacts: A collection of chopping body parts and impacts with knives and swords as well as beheading sounds with an axe and guillotine.

'Rusty Old Van' by Carl Malherbe is a small library recorded from a rusty old van using a Nagra LB and a Sennheiser MKH416 microphone. It features engine sounds, door and trunk Open Close Slam, and various other sounds.

    This library consists of sounds of authentic British sirens recorded during a 3 month period in London including while in Covid-19 lockdown. The sirens’ source vehicles include ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks. Recoding techniques include recording with a spaced pair of 2 DPA 4060’s in DPA BLM6000 Boundary Layer Mount with wind protection as well as following the source with Sennheiser 8060 shotgun when opportunity allowed. As a result, the library offers 48 sounds recorded in 24bit/96kHz format delivered in 64 files with a total runtime of approximately 12 minutes. The sound was edited in RX7 to remove the occasional sounds of birds.

  • Roomtones Hospital Ambiance Play Track 24 sounds included, 59 mins total $33

    Hospital Ambiance is 59 minutes/1.80 Gb of ambiance recordings from an old hospital. 24 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz A-B stereo. All sounds are UCS-compatible.

    Hospital Ambiance was recorded in the rooms and corridors of the old (now defunct) Aarhus County Hospital in Aarhus, Denmark. A prominent feature is the lack of acoustical treatment in corridors and hallways, giving a rather hard and reverberant sound, which is typical of Danish public building styles of the 1930’s and 40’s.

    Elevators and automatic doors are heavy and noisy; humming and clanking as patients and staff pass through them. Electric vehicles used to move patients and supplies around inside the complex are old and not exactly noiseless either. Finally, while I did not have access to operating rooms or the like, I did get into a couple of basement corridors, where there were less people and more Hvac noise (yay!).

    In some of the recordings, faint, muffled or smeared voices can be heard. While I have removed passages with distinctly Danish words (which might also be connected with specific, recognizable persons), there is still a certain tone and pitch to the Danish language, which may come through on occasion.
    All in all, this is the sound of a place that is no more, as this old hospital is being turned into expensive apartments or something to that effect.
