Environments & Ambiences

Environment recordings, ambiences and soundscapes – from all over the world, and beyond

  • This library consists of 80 recordings from the beautiful Italian island of Sicily. Centered around the Eastern coastal city of Catania and surrounding areas, this library includes everything you need to get a real feel of this historical island.  It includes everything from town ambiences to beaches, traffic, harbor sounds, markets, church bells, transport and much more.

Over 4.5 hours of audio, with most ambiences over 3 minutes in length.

Perfect for filmmakers, theatre sound designers and anyone who needs that authentic, everyday sound of Sicily and Sicilian life.

All recordings are at 24Bit/96KHz with Soundminer & RIFF metadata embedded.

  • GEOTHERMAL – 3D SURROUND AMBIENCES:

Yellowstone National Park, this library transports the listener to someplace far away from Earth – although sounds represent the primal geological processes of our beautiful planet.

Whether you are designing for daunting underground environments or films somewhere else in our solar system, draw from the rich sonic details in this collection and fill your fictional realm with uniqueness and character – all in incredibly immersive 3D SURROUND!

    IDEAL CONDITIONS – EXCELLENT QUALITY

GEOTHERMAL was recorded at night in order to eliminate bird, tourism and transport noises.

The result is a pristine, authentic toolkit with which to sketch out, layer and shape environments and products of your imagination (or project briefing).

    EARTHLY, YET ALIEN

GEOTHERMAL grants a sonic glimpse at the massive, seething processes continuously happening deep inside Mother Earth. Hostile underground environments, hellish scenes or extraterrestrial landscapes come to mind when immersing yourself in the sound.

This library is a true asset in the hands of the creative: Bring the unusual to life and embellish your designs with the almost uncanny details of the audio material available in GEOTHERMAL.

    INCLUDING STEREO VERSION

In addition to the ORTF-3D files, the 3D SURROUND edition also contains all files in 2.0 stereo for your convenience to save time on unnecessary conversions. Instead, you can instantly use these great new sounds for all your projects that don’t require surround sound.

  • This library was compiled over the course of 5 years with 3 different recorders (Sony D50, Zoom H6 and Roland R07). The Roland was used in stealthy situations because of its size.

This collection of tracks depict the sound of traffic, both near and far, with the (seemingly) constant hum of the Los Angeles helicopter. There are plenty of those in these recordings, as well as a good variety of locations and situations. I believe this library represents the actual sound of Los Angeles in a general sense.

All tracks have been mastered in Pro Tools, with light compression to even out the bumps, and use EQ here and there to hide the rumble and calm the hiss. All bumps and unwanted noise has been edited out for the best result.

I hope you appreciate this collection, as I’ve used all the tracks myself. In most cases, these sounds have been bolstered and mastered for a fuller, more interesting sound.

All tracks have full metadata implemented for a clear and concise explanation of each track.

  • We all know what central London sounds like. It’s noisy, crowded, and full of people trying to sell you watches. Ok, maybe that last point wasn’t that relevant, but have you ever wondered what lies beyond?

A short drive towards the suburbs will reveal a world filled with warm beer, cricket, and endless parks, where deer roam free.

When planning this library, the intention was to capture the quieter side of the metropolis, all year round! As a result, this library will receive multiple updates over the coming months. There will be one more summer update soon, along with an autumn update, winter update, and spring update.

If you purchase the library now, you will get it at the lowest price, and you will also get all the remaining updates for free.

So far, the first version of the library contains 15 .WAV stereo files at 96kHz/24 bit, recorded with a Sony PCM-D100/1, and contains approximately 35 minutes of summer ambiances in different locations throughout suburban London. Over the following months, I’ll keep traveling around the suburbs, collecting more and more ambiances, each update representing its own season.

Each file has been carefully edited in iZotope RX in order to remove as much unwanted noise as possible, such as random shouting, barking, etc. This will provide you with clean ambiences that will add character to your projects, without distracting the audience. That being said, do please note that the recordings contain some amount of traffic noise, and some also contain airplane noise. This is, of course, unavoidable when recording in a city such as London.

In addition to that, each file has been filled to the brim with SoundMiner metadata, allowing you to quickly search through the files, waste less time and dedicate more time to what you love doing!

If you have any questions about this library, feel free to quickly send me an e-mail. I tend to reply within minutes.

  • Bundles General Hospital Play Track 2000 sounds included, 900 mins total $249

HAL has teamed up with sound designer Raphael Sohier to create the most comprehensive hospital sound effects library to date. General Hospital has 760 files and over 2000 sounds covering all aspects of the genre.

This collection is the result of years of work and aims to set a new standard for a genre mostly neglected by independent sound libraries until now. Even old tropes need new sound ideas (no pun intended) and we think we have achieved exactly this with our library.

    HAL General Hospital | Trailer

This is an All-in-One SFX library where you will find :

Ambiences – Whether it is a busy corridor, a bursting waiting area or the strange calm of an ICU bedroom with all its machines, you will find it in here. We have recorded in various hospitals located in France – discernible speech was edited out so the recordings could cover a broader use.

Medical Equipment – From the syncopated hissy sound of a ventilator to the disruptive power of a MRI machine or the strange hollow resonances of an hyperbaric chamber, we’ve recorded a large number of medical devices with multiple perspectives.

Activities – What would be of a medical drama without the sound of hasty fooststeps down the hallway or of a gurney descending abruptly out of an ambulance ? Typical activities such as these were recorded on real locations for this collection.

Foley – We have welcomed veteran foley artist Gilles Marsalet in order to cover some specifics such as surgical instruments and operating table gore which, to say the least, demands a certain finesse – the same delicacy that separates doctors from flesh-eating zombies.

Sirens – Wailing, whoppers, piercers, buzzers, dual-tone…we’ve got them all. Getting in and out of a hospital in style is guaranteed.

Beeps – These are perhaps the most iconic sounds related to this kind of environment. Our collection has beeps in all waveshapes and colors, recorded from real devices in pristine condition and designed for even more flexibility. Whether you are looking for realism or  you just want to enhance the drama, General Hospital has got you covered.

Hospitals are often depicted in fiction because they are places inherently rich in conflict and human drama. They are the ideal setting for stories about struggle, sacrifice, strengthening of bonds, loss… As sound designers we try to enhance these feelings through the creation of dynamics and subtle sonic variations. General Hospital was crafted with this in mind and it offers a broad palette of sounds in order to give you as many options as possible while working on a scene.

  • Stadium Crowd Vol. 1 captures an immersive symphony of emotions reverberating around a UK stadium packed with over 80,000 people. The library includes a cacophony of cheers, jeers, groans, and moans, giving a genuine sense of the passionate energy in the stands.

This library was recorded during a professional wrestling event, making it an ideal choice for productions featuring exhilarating sports scenes filled with heightened excitement. Experience the resonant thuds of body slams, the distinct chime of bell dings, and the vibrant chorus of crowd chants.

These sound effects are not only suitable for productions infused with pro wrestling themes, but can also elevate any scene with an enthusiastic stadium crowd.

Combine these sounds with our Football SFX Bundle Vol. 1  & Vol. 2 to build a myriad of enthusiastic fanfares.

All sounds are delivered in 24Bit 96kHz format allowing further sonic manipulation, and have been meticulously edited and tagged with extensive UCS compliant metadata for ease of use.

  • Experience the heart and soul of the city with this captivating collection of ambient sounds from urban environments and transportation. • Water & Ocean Sounds Underwater textures Play Track 116 sounds included, 166 mins total $23

Underwater recordings of the river, lake (pond) and stream recorded with one or two hydrophones.

Underwater sound textures, ambiences and different strange sounds like: deep underwater bass rumbling, bubbles in water stream, flowing of water under the ice and many others.

The „Stereo“ recordings are actually two mono channels (or hydrophones) spaced approx. 1 m and placed in water flow to get some depth or left to right (or vice versa) channel effect. You can mix those two channels to get depth or other effect to your taste. Recorded in all seasons and water levels/speed. Recording with “LOOP” marks in the name are loop ready and can be repeated continuously.

All recordings are recorded with Aquarian audio H2-a XLR hydrophones and Sound Devices field mixer (preamps are Lundahl input transformers for warmth of the sound). Recorded many years with various recorders (but preampy and hydrophones are always the same).

Max peak level is around -5dBFS. No compressors or dynamic tools were used in editing.
