Scary, creepy, nasty horror sound effects and gore sounds
‘DARK’ by Badlands Sound delivers you 15 scary, ominous dark drones that will add an added layer to terrify the audience. You will hear low-end rumbles, sinister drones, creepy atmospheres and more! This sound library includes 15 high-quality 96k / 24-bit dark drones. All audio files are two minutes long subtly changing over time.
Dark Seals is a unique collection of close up, expressive seal vocalisations. It includes everything from aggressive growls, funny gargles, snapping snarls, howling wails & disgusting snorts and slobbers.
Recorded on location in Namibia and the United Kingdom, the library consists of many incredibly up-n-close recordings of individual seals, both adults and pups. The close proximity and large variety in vocal ranges between adults and pups makes this material highly malleable and perfect source for creature sound design. Check the demo to hear examples of these sounds playing at half speed.
The files are organised per individual seal and often carry on for minutes with continuous vocalisations, resulting in many variations of a similar type of call. The content is therefore very suitable for game audio design.
Besides individual seals, there are also various recordings of a huge colony of Cape Fur Seals. These will come in useful when designing sounds of creature hordes.
‘Resonance’ by Badlands Sound features 25 resonating drone sounds perfect for your projects. This library puts a different twist on drones using reverbs and processing until the original sound resonates within a space or location creating these uncomfortable sounds.
We believe ‘Resonance’ will greatly benefit sound editors and sound designers to create stylized tension filled moments and upsetting nerving scenes.
The Evolved Game Creatures monster sounds collection brings producers and sound designers a versatile and wide-ranging selection of large to medium-sized creature sounds. Includes monster vocalizations and large angry creature sound effects.

Sigil is a unique library of dark, gritty, raw, and eerie textures and tones made from one-of-a-kind handmade electro-acoustic instruments and found objects created by sound designer and musician Nathan Moody.
Sigil provides an edgy set of layers that are rich with organic complexity: Skittery bows on handmade string instruments; “prepared” string tones and textures, bowed and rubbed springs under tension; salvaged rusty metal tubes; perforated steel gongs; aluminum water bottle bells; and deep, resonant handmade percussion instruments. Textures include chugs, shrieks, groans, drones, bounces, peals, and rattles. The sounds range from blissfully musical to horrifyingly atonal, and are equally at home lending an uneasy tone to either avant garde musical works or multi-layered sound effects, especially in thriller or horror genres.
The organic nature of the Sigil library means that its sounds hold up well to extreme processing like pitch shifting and granular resynthesis. The handmade nature of the instruments used means that there’s no other library quite like it.
The recordings were made with a variety of pickups, contact microphones, and traditional microphones, through various high-end “character” mic preamps selected uniquely per microphone and per instrument. Full details are in the library’s documentation.
This collection was recorded at 24 bits, 96 kHz and includes over three hours of recordings with more than 600 individual sounds, all fully tagged with metadata. Multiple articulations and voicing are ganged into single files for convenience and organization.
The “Crash & Smash – Designed” sound effects library contains 350 sounds of destruction.
You get 5 categories (Glass, Metal, Stone, Wood, Plastic) each with 50 edited, layered and designed sounds of destruction and demolition. Additionally you get 100 mixed heavy Crash and Destruction Sounds in 5.0 Surround.
These were fully created and designed in surround not just upmixed. You also get the downmixed versions in 2.0 Stereo.
All sounds were designed from the original Crash & Smash.
You can easily create a vast amount of new crashes by combining, layering and arranging these sounds. Comes with embedded Sound Miner Metadata.
Available in two versions:
Ultrasquish is an ultrasonic-rich library of squishes and squeezes, optimized for radical pitch shifting. It contains around 40 minutes of 192-kHz, UCS-compliant, icky goodness. Each file contains long takes with many variations, ideal for interactive content. From silly squishes to horrific scenes, Ultrasquish simply oozes usefulness.
The performances of squished and squeezed water, gel, goo, and air begin as sharp, crisp, and immediately useful assets for representing cartoony action, sticky props, mud, blood, viscera, critical hits, or finishing moves. But once pitched down, they reveal creature growls, monstrous heartbeats, gurgling zombie breaths, gloopy footstep sweeteners, colossal digestive tracts, slimy monster movements, and bubbling alien slimescapes. A set of designed sounds are included to showcase the potential uses of the library, and for immediate use in quick-turnaround projects.
All sounds were recorded in extreme close-up perspective with both a hypercardioid microphone and an ultrasonic-capable omni microphone, blended together for a punchy, full-range tone while preserving ultrasonic detail (reaching as high as 70 to 100 kHz, depending on the prop or material being recorded).

WHAT SOUND PROFESSIONALS SAY:
Philip Eriksson – Audio Director (It Takes Two, Battlefield V, Star Wars: Battlefront I & II)
“Slava has some pretty kick ass sound libraries!”
Victor Mercader – AAA Sound Designer (Apex Legends)
“I find myself continuously using Slava’s SFX libraries to blend it’s pristine and detailed sound designs into my own sounds. They always add that cutting edge I am missing and make my sound designs more unique and pristine. The Sci-fi Elements sound library is the perfect library to use and blend into my UI designs in Apex Legends.”
Enos Desjardins – Sound Designer/Sound Effects Editor (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Black Mirror)
“Slava has been creating some really cool libraries which I find myself using time and again. Really high quality recordings to start with but then the cool processing he has used for example in his cinematic whoosh libraries really stand out. They are not just your standard generic whoosh sounds but are loaded with character and have a unique feel to them that is really fresh and cuts through in the nicest of ways.”
Bjørn Jacobsen – AAA Sound Designer (CyberPunk 2077, HITMAN, DARQ)
“Slava has for several years made high quality sound effects for me to play with. I use his sound libraries across multiple projects as lego blocks of my creations.”
Stefan Kovatchev – Audio Director (MultiVersus)
“Slava has put together an impressive collection of high quality source assets, recorded cleanly, and at high sample rates. It’s always refreshing to find a new purveyor of good source material. I particularly enjoyed Resonating Metal Force, which is comprised of very useable, unique tonal textures and impacts.”
Shane Tetro – AAA Sound Designer (Remnant II)
“Slava’s libraries feature high-quality, adaptable recordings and designs. There is plenty to dig through in every pack, making each library extremely dynamic for various applications. Their exceptional textures have significantly enhanced my workflow; consider me a fan!”
Samuel Gagnon-Thibodeau – Sound Designer/Sound Effects Editor (Dream Scenario, The Watchers, Hunting Daze)
“Slava’s Cinematic Wood Symphony detailed textures and movements blend so well in what I’m usually looking for in terms of sound design. It really brings proximity and sensitivity to the action while feeling real and natural. The creative blend of the wooden sounds with whooshes and impacts also makes them very unique. I’m finding myself coming back to them more and more as they fit in many situations.”
Yarron Katz – AAA Composer and Sound Designer
“Slava makes some wonderful libraries. He’s relatively new on the scene and his libraries have come to critical acclaim. He takes some general ideas, like whooshes and he injects some extremely revolutionary and innovative ideas to them, so you’re not getting another whoosh library – you’re getting something very unique, very fresh. He brings some wonderful ideas to the table.”

In search of crunchy and gross sounds, we made a our own gore library. From vegetables, fruit, eggs, dry and wet noodles, dog food and a variety of other sources, Bloodbath was born. Using the sounds as-is or manipulating them will have excellent results and we can’t wait to hear what kind of disgusting and brutal things you come up with using Bloodbath.
This Sound Effects library contains 633 files that feature over 1000 sounds of unsettling and unpleasant squeaking and creaking elements. It’s a great starting point for designing a vast number of different soundscapes in various genres – from just using the sounds as general Hard Effects, to Science Fiction and Horror.
All sounds are production ready: Cleaned, Edited, levelled, and come with embedded BWF Metadata.
You get heavy doors and furniture creaks, screaming dry ice, creaking leather, rubber and balloons, forks on ceramic tablets, disturbing metal squeaks and much more.
This library has the aim of bringing ultra high quality malleable materials for sound designers with extensive organic variations in the realm of horror/gore.
It can help the most gruesome and disgusting scene comes alive with vivid realism.
Each file has a great amount a variations of the same sound.
In the meantime, the extensive frequency range provided by the Sanken co-100k and the Sennheiser MKH-series microphones allows extreme pitch-shifting.
Let’s express creativity by layering these sounds and pitch-shiftings with almost no limits!
A hell spawned collection of powerful zombie vocals; Guttural grunts, growls, bites, snarls, roars and screeches to cover nearly every zombie vocal need!
It’s been four long years since ShotgunMike’s The Undead was unleashed upon the unsuspecting sound community, leaving a trail of bloody sound designers in it’s wake. Well now they’re back in The Undead 2 and they’re bigger, angrier and hungrier than ever!
Based upon ShotgunMike’s extensive experience in game and cinematic sound design, The Undead 2 is a much larger collection of less defined but more varied powerful zombie vocals. Guttural grunts, growls, bites, snarls, roars and screeches to cover nearly every zombie vocal need. Things have been kept simple, rather than individual assets what you’ll find in this library is larger files defined by their intensity, vocal type and length, which will make editing and creating variations much easier. It also includes zombie hoard soundscapes in varying locations, including urban, interiors and tunnels.
So why less defined assets? Over the last four years since the release of the first The Undead library, ShotgunMike has worked on a lot of in game audio and cinematics, and it’s predominantly not pre-defined or over designed material he’s reached for when crafting the sounds of creatures (or anything else for that matter), it’s often texture, tonality, movement and intensity. To that end, making more varied content for The Undead 2 without putting too many labels on them will give sound designers and editors more choice and flexibility when designing their own creature vocals. With over 600 assets, including zombie hoard soundscapes, this library is full of the kind of material that will add power and aggression to zombies, trolls, ogres, orcs, vampires and any other hell spawned creature you can think of!
Impact is a 100 sound collection of light and heavy abstract hits sourced from lo-fi recordings of the destruction of laptops, mobile phones and a handheld games console. The sounds have been manipulated with extreme editing and digital processing – leaving little to no trace of the original recordings behind – to bring a series of production elements ready to drop into your latest trailer, environment or Industrial/EDM music production. Featuring huge sonic eruptions, metal on metal collisions, robotic movement, found sound snare drums, tech debris and more, this versatile array of sound effects may be just what you need to give your latest production that extra bit of Impact.
Exclusive to A Sound Effect, this library comes with 100 bonus source material sounds featuring hammer hits, drops and debris scrapes!
[Updated 11/2018 : The extension “Ghosts Return” has been added as a bonus to this library]

‘Tiny Transitions’ deivers 275 short Whooshes and other Transition sounds. Instead of the huge, more cinematic transitional sounds that you are accustomed to hear from SoundBits, this sound pack focuses more on the smaller, not-so-intrusive production elements that come in very handy for any Sound Designer, All-In-One Film Editor or Web-, App- and Game-Developers.
All these small motion-supporting elements that you need in your everyday work for game menus, apps, general motion designs, … or as parts of more complex moving stuff.
You get 275 designed sounds + a selection of 290 cleaned and edited source sounds that were used to design the Tiny Transitions. These sounds are mostly different props that are scraping or sliding on different surfaces and also some vocalized whoosh attempts.
All source sounds were recorded with Sonosax SX-R4+ and Sennheiser MKH8050+MKH30 M/S rig.
All sounds come with embedded Soundminer Metadata.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
