CINEMATIC DARKNESS has been co-produced with sound designer Sebastian Johnson who left his footprints in the world of sound design starting in the 90s with the first commercial library for the Waldorf Microwave and sound design for Ensoniq, Clavia, DSI, and recently for more than 40 blockbuster trailers in the last 4 years such as Gravity, World War Z, Godzilla, Maleficient, The Hobbit, Transcendence, The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus, Pacific Rim, Resident Evil 5, Star Trek & much more!
Our new library comes all nasty, disturbing & unsettling. It’ll shake you to the core & without a doubt it will power your next project. Evil, murky, harsh, synthetic and edgy are only a few characteristics of CINEMATIC DARKNESS. You have the possibility to customize this collection to your very own needs: the CONSTRUCTION KIT offers you high-quality source recordings to be creatively processed, while the DESIGNED version comes in handy with pre-designed, “ready-to-use” sounds, ideal for time-scarce projects. Cinescapes is the third and the last installment in the CINE series.
It is a collection of modern, cinematic, evolving, sequential soundscapes.
Cinescapes (Cinematic Soundscapes) is a library created with sound designers and gamedevs in mind.
It’s not just another “drone” library. Every soundscape is unique and has been mangled through both external outboard as well as
some top tier plugins. It’s sequential nature adds a sense of rhythm without making it take over the whole frequency range.
All soundscapes loop seamlessly for your convenience.
The collection consists of 20 carefully designed and rendered soundscapes with baked-in Soundminer’s metadata.
All sounds have been created and processed using top tier gear in order to deliver crisp, modern, error free sound.

A collection of textural recordings of electric and electronic sound sources.
This small, highly focused sound library features drones and textures created solely with sounds from a 1950’s Cable upright piano.
These sound effects range from low, dark, and pulsating, to high and shimmering and could easily work in sci-fi, suspense, thrillers, or fantasy. While they can sound otherworldly, the sounds are actually quite organic. The sounds were made with looped and layered tone clusters and ambience recorded inside the piano – no granularization, synthesis, or additional processing like reverb were employed.
They can be used alone or mixed with other sounds to great effect.
Computer Noises is based on a wide palette of noises that computers emit when booting, reading from their CD-ROM drives, or accessing a hard disk.
The library contains several complete boot sequences of 10 different laptop and desktop computers ranging from an old ATARI PC-2, going over to Pentium I and III, Celerons and Core Duo machines.
Each booting sequence was recorded from different positions within the computer casings.
Additionally, all included components are available as separate takes so that each computer is entirely featured with its hard disks, power- and CPU fans plus all those other strange noises that occurred. As bonus, 25 extra sounds from external hard disks and blowers of all kind are included in this library.
This bundle contains four of my most Crime/Investigation focused libraries.

DANZA MACABRA is a collection of sound effects made out of real instruments recorded with Barcus Berry contact microphone.
Unusual tones and timbres came out while bowing and scratching violin and cello or “playing” an upright piano with “string piano technique” using different metal objects.
Danza Macabra comprises 45 loops at 140 bpm of designed clocks, tick loops, wooden old pendolo and time design elements. Designed glockenspiel and ride cymbals, morphed cinematic elements you will not find elsewhere.

Fantastic for any sci-fi project – and will also set the tone equally well for other disturbing cyberpunk projects and scary industrial spaces.
This library is a hybrid-production; A symbiosis of organic original field-recordings like Room Tones, Construction Sites, Traffic, Zoo-Animals, Motors and synthetic elements. Lot’s of spectral and granular synthesis. And lots of sound designing, of course.

The Soundcatcher is proud to announce a new sound design library called “Desolated Strings & Wood“. The found Markneunkirchen Zither from Wernitzgruen was in a very poor condition. I collected it and wrecked it like there was no tomorrow.

This library is packed full of tracks showcasing the full range of possible didgeridoo vocalizations and drones. Perfect for use as the foundation for all your designed animals and creatures.

• Two percent of the price of this library is donated to an environmental cause. I view it as an “artist royalty” for the planet!
Digital Dust delivers 128 tracks of pure digital bit-crushing distortion, deep atmospheric drones, and ear-piercing interface sounds.
Digital Dust is not your usual clean and modern computer command sound effects library. All sounds have been designed from real world electrical or organic recorded sounds.
Granulated, stretched, pitched and mangled in endless chains of plugins and hardware, for very different and almost apocalyptic kinds of rogue computer command sounds. The samples can easily be stretched or processed even more, for even weirder sound fx.
Need to create a tense atmosphere to induce madness, craziness and fear in your Horror or Sci-fi project? DISTORTED PERCEPTION is the library for you.
Abnormal melodies, strange sound movements, transitions and distorted cinematic impacts are some of the things you will find in this collection; sounds with a distorted, saturated and tense feeling to grab people’s attention and provoke fear, tension and suspense in them.
You can also use the sounds to enhance musical productions or create some nasty and crazy musical moments, thanks to a nice selection of percussive elements. The library contains two musical compositions using only the sounds in this library (using the percussive sounds with some of the atmospheres and transitions). Apart of being a great library for Horror or Sci-fi games and movies, this collection works well for trailers too.

Domestic Drones is a collection of 34 distorted and disturbing drones not for the faint-hearted. Each drone was created from recordings of domestic appliances and household items, such as fans, ventilation, taps, kettles and even coffee machines. Each one was then torn apart and treated using the finest plugins (and no virtual instruments) creating a collection of winds, howls, mechanical textures and alien winds.
This abstract collection is useful for anyone creating soundscapes for distant planets, submersed landscapes or even just a house of horrors.
Doom Drones contains more than 3Gb of eerie, doomful, dark, atmospheric field recordings, designed drones and backgrounds. Perfect for something in the realm of a David Lynch film, ambient music production, a horror film, or just to set the mood of a foreboding soundscape.
Each artist made 60 custom loops for a total of 120 loops. With SoundMorph focusing more on field recordings and subtle tonal design and Arovane focusing more on dynamic synthetic textures and sound design. Both perfectly suitable as layers or final assets, depending on their use, Doom Drones is a great addition for anyone wanting to enhance dark ominous moments.
All field recordings were captured with a mid/side stereo setup consisting of 2 Schoeps CMC6 bodies, Schoeps mk5 & mk8 capsules housed in a Rycote AE windshield running into a Sound Devices 722.
This Double Bass & Violin sound effects library not only includes weird low double bass bow strokes, stabs, vibrating strings, drones, harsh harmonics, string scrapes, bow stroke voices, and bright violin tones and screams. It also includes the opportunity to open up a whole new set of sonic adventures.
Why? All double bass sounds have been recorded at 192K/24 bit, with an amazing stereo set of close up Sanken CO100K microphones, and a stereo set of Sennheiser Mkh 8020 microphones, capturing low end and room. All violin sounds have been recorded with a single Sanken CO100K microphone.
Common for all Sanken files is that you're able to either extreme time stretch/time compress, or pitch up and down the files, and by this discover a whole new world of sounds – without adding nasty degenerating artifacts or muffling the sound. The ultra-high frequency range of the Sanken microphones does really make a great difference!
Recordings these sounds was a pure blast. The amount of versatile organic material in the set is great. The bass instrument has been played in a very innovative way, using both regular bow on strings and bass body, but also finger cymbals attached to specific places for a vibrating ring or rattle noise, creating some really other-worldly sound effects, and almost vocal-like patterns.
While the double bass material produces a massive low end without any further processing, the violin recordings really benefit from being stretched and pitched. This makes all the non-audible bright sounds captured by the Sanken microphones come through.
With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
