Atmospheric drones and ambiences – light and dark, beautiful and eerie, lively and serene
Need to create a tense atmosphere to induce madness, craziness and fear in your Horror or Sci-fi project? DISTORTED PERCEPTION is the library for you.
Abnormal melodies, strange sound movements, transitions and distorted cinematic impacts are some of the things you will find in this collection; sounds with a distorted, saturated and tense feeling to grab people’s attention and provoke fear, tension and suspense in them.
You can also use the sounds to enhance musical productions or create some nasty and crazy musical moments, thanks to a nice selection of percussive elements. The library contains two musical compositions using only the sounds in this library (using the percussive sounds with some of the atmospheres and transitions). Apart of being a great library for Horror or Sci-fi games and movies, this collection works well for trailers too.

Dive down in the dark abyss and experience the cold otherworlds with sharp currents and muddy bottom…

The sounds of rushing, bubbling currents have been created with more impressive details, clarity and definition. And there are other design styles at your disposal too, such as flat pads, grainy trickling, otherworldly drones or deep kicking moves.
“..What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?..” Neo, The Matrix.

It has a very strong Sci-fi feeling. Domestic Drones is a collection of 34 distorted and disturbing drones not for the faint-hearted. Each drone was created from recordings of domestic appliances and household items, such as fans, ventilation, taps, kettles and even coffee machines. Each one was then torn apart and treated using the finest plugins (and no virtual instruments) creating a collection of winds, howls, mechanical textures and alien winds.
This abstract collection is useful for anyone creating soundscapes for distant planets, submersed landscapes or even just a house of horrors.
Doom Drones contains more than 3Gb of eerie, doomful, dark, atmospheric field recordings, designed drones and backgrounds. Perfect for something in the realm of a David Lynch film, ambient music production, a horror film, or just to set the mood of a foreboding soundscape.
Each artist made 60 custom loops for a total of 120 loops. With SoundMorph focusing more on field recordings and subtle tonal design and Arovane focusing more on dynamic synthetic textures and sound design. Both perfectly suitable as layers or final assets, depending on their use, Doom Drones is a great addition for anyone wanting to enhance dark ominous moments.
All field recordings were captured with a mid/side stereo setup consisting of 2 Schoeps CMC6 bodies, Schoeps mk5 & mk8 capsules housed in a Rycote AE windshield running into a Sound Devices 722.
This Double Bass & Violin sound effects library not only includes weird low double bass bow strokes, stabs, vibrating strings, drones, harsh harmonics, string scrapes, bow stroke voices, and bright violin tones and screams. It also includes the opportunity to open up a whole new set of sonic adventures.
Why? All double bass sounds have been recorded at 192K/24 bit, with an amazing stereo set of close up Sanken CO100K microphones, and a stereo set of Sennheiser Mkh 8020 microphones, capturing low end and room. All violin sounds have been recorded with a single Sanken CO100K microphone.
Common for all Sanken files is that you're able to either extreme time stretch/time compress, or pitch up and down the files, and by this discover a whole new world of sounds – without adding nasty degenerating artifacts or muffling the sound. The ultra-high frequency range of the Sanken microphones does really make a great difference!
Recordings these sounds was a pure blast. The amount of versatile organic material in the set is great. The bass instrument has been played in a very innovative way, using both regular bow on strings and bass body, but also finger cymbals attached to specific places for a vibrating ring or rattle noise, creating some really other-worldly sound effects, and almost vocal-like patterns.
While the double bass material produces a massive low end without any further processing, the violin recordings really benefit from being stretched and pitched. This makes all the non-audible bright sounds captured by the Sanken microphones come through.
Need to create a tense atmosphere to induce destruction and fear in your game or trailer? “DOWNFALL” is the library for you.
Atmospheric elements, hits, percussive elements, noises, transitions and loops are some of the things you will find in this collection; sounds with a heavy, frenetic and tense feeling to grab people’s attention and evoke images of a desolated and doomed world in them.
This collection of 159 Sound Effects can be used to enhance music tracks too, making this library a versatile addition to your current collection of production elements.

Dreamstates is a collection of abstract ambient elements full of stretched-out swathes of noise, hazy, washed-out melodics, deep, tension-invoking drones, unique transitions and Lo-Fi, other-wordly textures to inspire dream sequences, flashback scenes and moments of character reminiscence.
Created using cutting-edge granular and wavetable synthesis techniques, this 120 sound library of instrument manipulations and heavily-processed, resampled musical phrases provides a large palette of ideas to draw from for your audio projects, whether using the production-ready sounds as they are, layering them, or as a basis for further sound design.
This library of drones was carefully crafted from a variety of analog sources such as modular synthesizers, natural ambiences and electromagnetic recordings of many different devices.
Every one of these recordings were painstakingly performed. Many parameters were manipulated in real time to create an evolving texture that has a true sense of life and uniqueness to it.
A true labor of love, I had a blast putting this one together!

This library is a bit different from the rest. Dx (“Diagnostic”) is a grouping of different audiometric and audiological elements in a neat, diversified package. Our goal was to aggregate audio tests from multiple disciplines and build them into a one-stop-shop collection that most sound designers, engineers, researchers, and artists could utilize as a mainstay in their audio toolbox.
In this collection you will find sets of: binaural beats, audiometric sweeps, full frequency sweeps, multi-spectrum noise, spatializations, resonance tones, impulses, dynamics tests, intermodulated distortion tests, aliasing tests, phase tests, and a few fun examples just for kicks.
These diagnostic sounds are provided in 96kHz/24-bit, 48kHz/24-bit, and 44.1kHz/16-bit resolutions. There are various length and loudness combinations as well, so you don’t have to edit these files to use them for their intended tests. That being said, this diagnostic audio can also be used very quick and precise ways in layered SFX designs. Because they are so specific in their development, they can be used with an automatic mathematic disregard…and that, is a good thing.
Quick, clean, and precise. Enjoy.

The library features soft wind, distant hum, vegetation rustles, dogs barking at various distances, church bells tolling, a variety of owl species and other birds like ravens and woodcocks. All these elements are not foreground, but rather washed-out, echoey and atmospheric.
Eerie Forest is not suitable for foreground sound elements as the recordings are very soft and subtle. Make sure you check out the demos before you purchase.

This original library is from the personal collection of trailer music composer Federico Soler Fernández (“Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” – “Middle Earth: Shadow of War” – “Halloween 2018” – “The Predator 2018”)
Obscure cinematic ping elements perfect to add as top layers while crafting memorable hit sounds and hybrid trailer impacts with mystical undertones and terrifying stingers.
This file is from the personal library of trailer music composer Federico Soler Fernandez (“Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” – “The Food That Built America (History Channel)” – “Middle Earth: Shadow of War” – “Halloween 2018” – “The Predator 2018”)
In this collection you'll find EMF captured from devices like: phones, TVs, hard drives, Playstation 3s, MacBooks, printers, scanners, juicers, pencil sharpeners, frequency counters, digital sweep function generators, camcorders, VCRs, DVD players, DSLRs, network routers, mixing consoles, and MUCH MORE!
Endless Drones is a diverse set of 100 multi-layered atmospheres and mangled drone textures, that will help you portray an unsettling sense of mood or establish a unique sense of location in your projects.
All sounds are formed using field recordings and organic sound elements that have been are mixed and merged with synthetic tones and low-end rumble sources, using extensive processing and advanced production techniques.
Some of the interesting real-life elements that have been used in the making of this library are city and roaring factory ambiences, radio statics, cicada songs, water flows and howling winds, spooky waves of laughter, horse galloping sounds, rough metal scrapes and slides, tape wrapping sounds around gears and rainscapes.
And the sounds can be described as spacious, immersive, futuristic, mysterious, wide, deep, dark, hypnotic, ominous, experimental.
It’s my pleasure to introduce you to this dense library of accomplished and cacophonous sounds. This is a dramatic and horror filled library, teaming with tension and ghostly ambience, stingers and hits.
Most of these sounds have been used in film and television in one form or another. They’re more than just “designy sounds”.
These are intended to create a score of tension that can help you build a scene to it’s full potential. These sounds add movement within the soundtrack, especially with the drones. When creating sounds, I like to inject some sort of movement within the sound itself, so that it’s never stagnant or ‘still’ sounding.
So if you’re looking to notch your project up a level with dark, moody and expressive design, this is a good bet for you. Hopefully you’ll have as much inspiration as I did when creating these.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
