  • Elegant Machines is 213Mb of slightly odd mechanical sounds in 150 separate files, recorded in 24bits/96kHz quality. Most are mono and edited as seamless loops.

Things that whirr, rotate, grind, click and clack. Strange machines that defy categorization. Levers, cogwheels and camshafts. Wood, metal and plastic, scrapes and screams. Some are simple loops of a single sound, while others are more complex movements.

Most of the sounds lend themselves best to small-ish mechanisms, but pitching down works well on many of them, for creating more substantial sounding movements.Sources include everything from an antique coffee grinder to old 8mm film cameras, and various nameless props and gadgets – perfect for designing sounds of strange machines and mechanical contraptions.

The sounds can be used for obvious purposes such as ratchet wrenches, cogwheels, drawbridges, steampunk mechanisms, machinery etc.. As is the case with other libraries in the Elements series, these sounds can also be used as building blocks for more complex sounds such as spaceships, vehicles, industrial machinery and others. Additionally, all files are recorded and mastered at 24/96 quality which makes them excellent sound design elements ripe for serious processing.

  • This is a selection of more than 30 different elevators, displaying a broad variety in sound. The whole library was recorded in 192 kHz (with Earthworks QTC50) as elevators often have high pitched metal sounds, squeaks and electrical hum up there, which makes great material for extreme pitch shifting. In addition to the omnis, which get you a very accurate impression of the space, a harsher, more direct pair of microphones were used in m/s on a lot of recordings. You could even build a surround version from these mics together.

The library focuses on the most important sounds for games and movies, elevators going up & down as well as doors sliding open and closing. Besides, I recorded atmos, buttons and footsteps wherever possible. I also added some studio foley takes to add a selection of rattles, squeaks, metal impacts, doors etc. to create the exact elevator sound that suits your needs.

The elevators range from a 1929 wooden paternoster, metallic freight elevators/goods lifts to a 90s futuristic Kone disc drive and 2015s all-glass cabins. Carrying a maximum of 2 people to 33 people. Recorded in universities, offices, hotels, warehouses, industry, town halls, private households, malls and many more.

The meta-data allows you to sort by year, kg, people, brand, action and of course character.

You like to hear it rattle, squeak, groan, grind, slide, clatter and hiss (yeah, lots of fan noise)? This is one for you.

  • Materials & Texture Eulerian Play Track 550+ sounds included, 385 mins total $55

The physical act of precessing is an interesting phenomenon in with world of mechanical physics. As spinning object of particular shapes, sizes, and materials rotate on an axis, the eventually shift to a specific orientation or side and actually increase in speed and pitch as they approach a static state.

In this library you will have at your disposal 5-8 takes of 21 different objects on 5 different surfaces spinning and precessing in all of their textured and intimate glory. Most containing varied harmonics, some object/surface combinations are rough and booming while others are shrill and just above a whisper. Meticulously recorded and edited, these effects are dynamic and full of character, ready to be twisted, shifted, and warped. When layered in various ways, they can create some really interesting phasing effects as well.

Interested in the physics of this library? Check out Michael Stevens’ (of Vsauce!) most excellent demonstration of Eulerian motion here!
