This library features a fine selection of Eurasian Mammals. The animals have been recorded both, in the wild and at animal care centres across Germany.
The most prominent and unique animal sounds in this library are probably squeaky juvenille garden dormice, grunting boar and sniffing hedgehog.
Also impressive recordings from deer rut are included and close up and very clean recordings from various bats, both flight calls and sounds during feeding.
There are plenty of rodents and other animals, check the list at the end of the text or the file list for an even more detailed overview.
Many of the recorded animals called in the ultra frequent range and have been recorded at 192kHz with microphones like the Earthworks QTC50, that go well beyond 90kHz. These noises are perfect for pitching and other sound design, I included some slowed down sounds as examples.
If you want to buy the library as a bundle with my libraries Eurasian Insects and Eurasian Birds, please contact me directly.
This collection is a great pool for realistic sound design as well as a source for editing monster, dragon and dinosaur sounds.
No animals have been harmed or scarred during the recording sessions.
Sound of the following animals are included:
Bechstein’s Bat, Boar, Common Pipstrelle, Common Vole, Daubenton’s Bat, Eurasian Hedgehog, Fallow Deer, Garden Dormouse, Mouflon, Nutria, Red Deer, Roe Deer, Shrew, Whiskered Bat, Wolf, Wood Mouse, and more…
Gear used: Klover 26″ Dish, Schoeps MK41, Neumann KMR81i, DPA 4060, Earthworks QTC50, Lewitt 540, SD 744t, Zoom F6
This bundle includes 9 libraries of animals and monsters from Articulated Sounds:
These naturally-sounding samples are useful for shaping expressive creature sounds.
DESCRIPTION:
• In Bat Echolocation, get a collection of unheard sounds from North American bats. Hear powerful clicks that sound like alien languages and musical pings that ring for ages. Hear laser-like chirps and the feeding buzz of bats on the hunt. Hear a batnado as millions of Mexican free-tailed bats exit their cave and swarm with starling-like murmurations.
• This library offers you a collection of sounds not normally heard by human hears. With a little pitch shifting, this ultrasonic world is at your fingertips. I find unheard sounds fascinating, I hope you enjoy them too. Thanks for listening.
DEMO:
• This demo is made up of pitch shifted sounds. Otherwise you would not be able to hear them :)
• All sounds included in library are ultrasonic other than the BATNADO swarm from 3:00 to end.
DESCRIPTION:
• In African Grey Parrot, get a musical collection of parrot vocalizations from Myrtle the parrot. Hear short squeaks so adorable I couldn’t help but smile and powerful clicks that sound like alien languages. Hear visceral screeches that could cause nightmares and playful whistles so musical you’d think she had a tune stuck in her head.
• This library offers you a collection of sounds from a fascinating species. I didn’t know one parrot could make such a wide variety of vocalizations and it was a joy to hear them for the first time as I got to know Myrtle over several sessions. I hope you enjoy them too. Thanks for listening.
DESCRIPTION:
• In Angry Chipmunk, get a maniacal collection of enraged rodents. Hear fierce repetitive chirps and visceral trills so close they can’t help but startle. Hear frantic scuttling movement and barks that sound like villainous laughter when pitched down.
• This library offers you a collection of sounds from a rodent with loads of character. Northern Maine has the highest density of angry chipmunks of any place I have recorded. Chipmunks are incredibly territorial and they really did not like me recording near their trees. They even chewed through some of my cables to show their displeasure! But it was worth it to hear their scrappy vocalizations up close. I hope you enjoy them too. Thanks for listening.
• Stereo Only: These recording were made in stereo and do not include a quad version.
• Stereo: front mid/side decoded to left and right.
• Quad: double mid/side decoded to quad.
DESCRIPTION:
• In Wild Animal Calls, get a large collection of animals in their natural environments. Hear haunting Sika deer bugles and curious Grizzlys energetically sniffing my microphones. Hear antiphonal gobbles of dueling turkeys and sharp ribbits singing across still water. Hear electric insects arcing with energy and angst-ridden vocals of lonely coyotes. Hear hawks circling above their clifftop nest and astonishingly dense melodies of Swainson’s thrushes. Hear wild pigs grunts and hummingbirds aerial acrobatics. Hear lonely Loons singing on boreal lakes and stately woodpeckers knocking.
• This library offers you a wide assortment of sounds from a wild animals of North America. These are the healthy and happy sounds of the wild, not the depressed sounds of sad animals confined to cages.
DESCRIPTION:
• In Ribbit, get an croaking collection of North American frog ambiences. Hear lonesome Pacific tree frogs croaking on dark nights in the forest and cute bouncing ball calls of Western-screech owls. Hear single sharp ribbits and frenetically dense choruses of hundreds of croaks.
• This library offers you an extensive collection of sounds from noisy amphibians. I hope you enjoy these sounds. Thanks for listening.
Recording animals can be tricky, fun and surprising. Recording bison bulls in rut is all the, with a fair bit of anxiety added.
The male bison bull can weigh up to 2000 pounds and are as tall as a regular sized man. When these animals are in rut, usually around late in summer, they are extremly aggressive and are not animals you should get in close contact with, without a wrangler who really knows what he or she is doing.
With that in mind Peter Albrechtsen and myself found ourselves on a ranch in Morud on Fyn, Denmark, where we recorded bisons in rut from the back of an open pick up truck.
The final recordings going into this library are both the stereo Telinga files and 2 tracks of Mkh416 amd Sanken CO100K files. All synced up, UCS ready and filled with some of the most organic and monsterous deep growling and otherworldly sounds we have ever recorded.
Recorders used: Sounddevices 702 and MixPre 6.
Microphones used: Telinga Parabolic dish and mic. Sennheiser Mkh416. Sanken CO 100K.
A note about this library: Even though we did our best to avoid birds, winds and distant traffic wash, these noises are some times present in the sounds. They are however not audible in the actual growls and bellows etc. But please listen to the demo beforehand, and decide for yourself!
A collection of sounds from Spain’s renowned Jerez Horse Fair.

California Grassland Wildlife is a collection of 95 Stereo and 33 Quad Recordings of over 30 different species of birds that can be found in Grassland, Plains, and High Desert Environments. Also included are a few recordings of Coyotes, Grasshoppers, Insects. Some other quieter ambiences are included as well.
Most of the recordings from this library took place in The Carrizo Plain, an open expanse of Grassland that spans 50 miles long and 15 miles wide West of the Mojave Desert in California’s Central Valley. It’s an arid area far from any towns, and a fairly harsh environment that most years gets very little rain. A number of dirt roads go on for miles and stretch across the flat plain and hilly landscape, eventually leading up to the Temblor and Caliente Ranges. Abandoned and weathered dilapidated remnants of old ranches, water tanks, barns, metal sheds, farm machinery, vehicles, and corrals from a bygone era of the west can be discovered if one ventures off the beaten path.
At first glance, one wouldn’t think there’d be much wildlife out there, but I discovered it’s an area that has quite a bit going on. A lot of the old structures, along with the few areas with trees become the resting place and shelters for birds and animals. Over a span of two years I made a number of trips to this location trying to capture as much of the local wildlife as I could.
Included are sounds from Dawn, Morning, Afternoon, Dusk, and late evening. Perspectives vary from extremely close to medium and distant. I’ve split out the sounds by species and more Active, Medium, Specific, in order to give a lot of flexibility when trying to use these sounds for projects.
Barn Owls chirping overhead, the single rhythmic call of Bell’s Sparrows, the close hooting of Great Horned Owl’s, the constant cooing of Doves, Ravens slowly traveling over an open field, Finches swarming and providing quite the cacophony. Detailed sounds of wings of birds and grasshoppers. Coyotes howling in the distance. It was a lot of fun putting this one all together.
California Grassland Abandoned is the companion library to this one and is more focused on Ambiences, winds, and sounds from Abandoned Structures.

Though these birds are in an abundance around most harbours and industry around here, they are not always easy to record. You mostly hear them from a distance, or from places not easy to access. When you try to get close to them, they will usually fly away.
Many hours have been spent on rooftops, gardens, backyards, a junkyard, and different harbours to get this material.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
