Animal Sound Effects

Authentic animal sound effects, animal recordings and designed creature and monster sound effects.

  • The Animal Symphony – “Harris’s Hawk” was made possible through a collaboration with the amazing people at Terra Natura.

This exclusive sound library features 36 high-quality audio tracks, with multi-take recordings that capture every vocalization and texture of the Harris’s Hawk. Using high-end microphones, such as the Sanken CO-100K and Sennheiser MKH 8050, along with the Zoom H6 recorder, we meticulously documented the nuances of each sound of these birds. The recordings, made at 24-bit/192kHz and 96kHz sampling rates, offer exceptional clarity and depth, ideal for high-demand productions.

Within this collection you will find a variety of Harris’s Hawk vocalizations, such as alarm calls, contact calls, and proximity screeches, captured at different proximities. With multiple variations and takes, this library is perfect for projects seeking realism and authenticity in wildlife sounds or for more creative projects such as creating fantasy creatures.

Each recording has been carefully edited to remove unwanted noise, and since it was made indoors, all traces of reverberation have been eliminated, ensuring a pure sound. • Animal Sound Effects ROAR By Stags Play Track 300+ sounds included, 297 mins total $50

ROAR By Stags is sound effects library constructed with high quality recordings of deers roaring in the middle of the forest. Everything was captured at night, during the high time of rut. It’s time when the stags are most vocal, calling to attract the attention of hinds. During those 2 to 4 weeks they are less cautious and easier to record. Inside this package you’ll find 267 files with total length of 291 minutes, both stereo and mono recorded in few different places, covering a wide range of sounds from general ambients with distant and washed out calls, through middle range roars, up to very close ones. There are also few foley like recordings of deers walking or rubbing their antlers against the trees. This is a complete package for any nature documentary, horror-ish scenes or a great set of sounds for monster / creatures sound design.

    This library in numbers:

    • General ambients : 19 files – 247 minutes
    • Individual roars (close / medium / far distance): 244 files – 40 minutes
    • Movement sounds: 4 files – 4 minutes

  • “Morning Atmosphere Seaside Village Loops” is a unique collection of sounds recorded on a warm morning in a seaside village. In this atmospheric recording you will find seamless loops of crickets, rustling leaves on the trees, birds singing, dogs barking and the distant sounds of a train passing by, as well as planes flying high above the village.

  • Costa Del Sol – Crickets And Dogs contains well edited and well recorded sounds for your projects! Recorded on a Sound Devices MixPre6II and a matched pair of lom BasicUchos. One file is recorded with a Sanken CO100K. Recorded at 192/24.

  • Designing wing sounds for flying creatures can sometimes be a challenge. And when it comes to creature sounds, it’s all about options. A small bird like a wren sounds very different than an adult gray goose. To find the right texture, and distinguish between wide and narrow wings, or to accomplish the task of designing bat or dragon wings, I created this library.

This library contains over 11GB of data consisting of 341 files and 2539 sound effects. Besides the typical fabric wing flaps, I used all sorts of props sorted by materials like rubber, neoprene, plastic, paper, etc. This opens the door to new creative sound design options to make your flying creature sound exactly how you want it to. I added all sorts of buzzing, clicking and rustling sounds especially for the flying insects.

Sound for animation requires two key styles of sound: silly and unique elements for movements, devices, and creatures that can only exist in animation; and gritty realistic elements that make the animated world feel real. This library has all that, including: weird dog whines; screaming cows; gadgets and machines; clean wind and trees; 11 angles on a single waterfall; zips and transitions; unique tonal elements; door movement and creaks; impacts; and more.

When your general libraries don’t have a sound that’s interesting, specific, weird, or silly enough, turn to the Modern Animation Library for help!

  • Animal Sound Effects California Grassland Bundle Play Track 160+ sounds included From: $190 From: $150

The California Grassland Bundle includes two Libraries, California Grassland Abandoned and California Grassland Wildlife. The recordings from this library mostly took place in The Carrizo Plain, an open expanse of Grassland located West of the Mojave Desert in California’s Central Valley.

California Grassland Abandoned recordings feature dilapidated remnants of old ranches, water tanks, barns, metal sheds, farm machinery, and corrals.  Many of these were far off the beaten path and a number of miles were logged along dirt and gravel roads.  The focus was to record things that had a lot of character.  Also included are calm, medium, and higher winds in metal sheds, small houses, barns, tall dry grass, and in some exterior locations out in the Plain.

California Grassland Wildlife features of over 30 different species of birds that can be found in Grassland, Plains, and High Desert Environments.  Also included are a few recordings of Coyotes, Grasshoppers, Insects, along with some quieter ambiences.

At first glance, one wouldn’t think there’d be much wildlife out in such a vast remote area, but I discovered the Grassland has quite a bit going on.  A lot of the old structures, along with the few areas with trees become the resting place and shelters for birds and animals.  Over a span of two years I made a number of trips to this location trying to capture as much of the local wildlife as I could.

More info on both libraries can be found by clicking on the Individual links.

  • Sweeping my flashlight across the still water I see the red glow of multiple black caiman eyes, a haunting stillness. Suddenly a reverberating splash breaks the rhythmic chorus of frogs and crickets as a caiman finds its evening meal, the first of many tonight. Giving a greater sense of space to this Amazonian lake the eyes of the caiman go on glowing, waiting for an unsuspecting fish to pass their open mouths.

It is impossible to not be present in the rainforest. Surrounded by mysterious night vocalization, stinging, biting insects, and penetrating humidity. Gratitude fills me for the Cofan guides who have taken our small group of sound recordists deep into their wildest territory. Nearly a constant buzz fills the soundscape which takes a few days to adjust to, but as I do I start to notice the thrilling variety of calls. Near and distant, there is a spectacular spaciousness and an intimacy that can only come from this unique location.

  • This library mostly consists of isolated mammal, bird, amphibian & insect sounds from Europe recorded close up in nature or at rewilding shelters.

While all animals have been recorded in Germany, many inhabitat places all around the world, from Asia to Africa and America.

I already released three libraries with Eurasian animals and they are also available as a bundle with this library.

    Eursian Birds

    Eurasian Insects

    Eurasian Mammals

This library adds isolated recordings of animals that have not been very present in my other libraries of living creatures. I did record some big bugs (stag beetle, violet carpenter bee, maybug…), some bad-tempered european wildcats and rare birds (bald ibis, eagle owl, little owl…). Also I included lots of frog and toad recordings with species that are seldom heard nowadays as well as more common species. There is a couple of juvenile animals (nutria, mute swan, house sparrow,…) in here too.

It is a perfect library not only for nature documentaries or other realistic sound design, but as everything was captured in high sample rates up to 192kHz, it can be used as unique source sounds for dinosaurs, aliens, monsters, zombies, fictional animals and creatures or even for weird machines.

Some animals can not be fully represented by single sounds, so I added some nature ambiences, like a rich frog chrous or a busy flock of starlings.

    List of animals:

Midwife Toad, European Treefrog, Natterjack Toad, Common Toad, Edible Frog, Pool Frog, Marsh Frog, Yellow Bellied Toad, Carp, Bechsteins Bat, Common Noctule, Lesser Noctule, Daubentons Bat, Bees: Anthophora plumipes, Anthophora bimaculata, Andrena nigroaenea, Megachile pilidens, Melitta haemorrhoidalis, Osmia adunca, Violet Carpenter Bee, Bugs: Greater Stag Beetle, Maybug, Plagionotus arcuatus, Bumblebee: Bombus pascuorum, Bombus sylvarum, Red Tailed Cuckoo Bee, Flys: Calliphoridae, Big Fly, Moth: Large yellow underwing, Wasp: European Hornet, European Wasp, Sphex, Mammals: European Wildcat, Giant Otter, Nutria, Racoon, Reindeer, Wolf, Carrion Crow , Eurasian Magpie, Jackdaw, Canada Geese, Common Moorhen, Coot, Eurasian Wigeon, Greylag Goose, Mallard, Mute Swan, Rock Ptarmigan, Ruddy Shellduck, Water Rail , Black Woodpecker, Common Crane , Green Woodpecker, Grey Heron, Quail, Ring Necked Pheasant , Wood Pigeon, Boreal Owl, Caucasian Eagle Owl , Eagle Owl, Eurasian Kestrel, Harris Hawk, Little Owl, Long Eared Owl, Peregrine Falcon, Tawny Owl, Black Headed Gull, Aquatic Warbler, Bald Ibis, Barn Swallow, Blue Tit, Corn Bunting , Dunnock, Eurasian Blackbird, Eurasian Jay, Eurasian Treecreeper, European Starling, Golden Oriole, Greenfinch, House Sparrow, Long Tailed Tit, Marsh Tit, Mistle Thrush, Red Backed Shrike, Red Thrush, Reed Bunting, Wren, Rose Ringed Parakeet
