Atmospheric drones and ambiences – light and dark, beautiful and eerie, lively and serene
This is a unique mini-library of useful rain loops, recorded in various settings, and with different level of intensity.
Get creative or just use them as is. These sounds are a nice companion to have when creating beds for rainy scenes. Evocative, emotional, rich and subtle.
Breathe fear and awe into your work with Atmospheric Dread, carefully designed and ever-evolving drones, intertwined with swelling textures.
Inspired by the sound of films such as Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, Interstellar, Alien: Covenant, Prometheus, and more, I’ve created a new Drone library, all whilst listening to the feedback from Aberrant Drones users, and reviewers.
I’ve not only worked on improving the quality of the soundscapes further, but I’ve also broken down files into more manageable chunks, up to around 6 minutes long, and brutally cut out whatever did not feel like it should go in the library.
As a result, Atmospheric Dread is a smaller library, at least compared to the massive Aberrant Drones, whilst delivering 63 minutes of gut-wrenching, eye-widening, and fear-inducing soundscapes.
The library is comprised of 24bit/96kHz .WAV files, all stuffed to the brim with rich, and descriptive SoundMiner metadata, thus allowing you to find what you need immediately.
This library is a collection of 60 Sci-Fi atmospheres, all loop seamlessly, which can be used to represent alien worlds, drones ambiences, spacecrafts, futuristic engines, nuclear facilities, celestial spaces, generators, dark elements and from outer space. Mainly inspired by the Alien saga.
Each file has a duration of one minute with subtle changes over time. Ideal sounds to use as a layer in your sound design or for those project where music and sound design are pretty close.
Files have been designed on the basis of two different TVs buzzing, making a total of 32 buzz files, which have also been included in the collection. Calibrated to -24 LUFS. You can experiment with them to create more sounds, or use them as what they are, a TV buzz.
All files come in 96 kHz/24 bit, with a very descriptive metadata, based on what the sounds represent and which kind of feeling and mood they suggest to the listener.
Soundcloud preview includes all the designed sounds.
Glass and Metal Clouds are the result of experimenting with the tonal and noise elements of a glass or metal impact via granular processing. Various household objects were struck and recorded, ranging from metal shovels, desk legs and brass ornaments to glass and crystal objects – basically anything that would ring after it was struck.
The recordings were then sent through ‘Clouds’ and processed with gentle, chaotic modulation by a combination of sloth chaos modules and standard cyclic modulation resulting in drones that gently sweep between musical tonal sounds and the random noise produced by the strike and are ever evolving; some more than others.
Sometimes some surprising sounds came out of the drones and I let them run, some were kept quite constant with only a subtle amount of modulation so there is a lot of variation in the pack.
The sounds came from my need as a sound designer to embed strange mood, emotion and feeling of uncertainty into everyday ambience.
Get the sounds of the classic 1970’s era Roland Space Echo RE-201 – captured in high resolution audio.
75 samples are included in this library, featuring a wide range of sounds emitted from a mint condition RE-201. The samples are collected from the space echo self oscillation, as well the triggered delay from various sound sources. Use these samples for the classic Space Echo sound or chop up and manipulate them for new sound creation/design.
Build the suspense or sense of wonder with this pack of high-quality drones and pads. The sounds come in a large variety of styles, from DARK, mysterious metallic ringing or whirling vacuous spaces and mid-range NEUTRAL sounds like evolving hums and shimmering resonances to light, ethereal ahs and cosmic-inspired reverberations from outer space. The soundtrack of your production isn’t complete without these awe-inspiring soundscapes.
SCIFI ATMOS is a collection of 30, seamlessly looping, sci-fi soundscapes and ambiences with total run time of 38 minutes.
All sound effects have been created using real field recordings in order to add organic feel to them and trick your brain into
perceiving them as something realistic and later edited with top of a line outboard and plugins to add dark, sci-fi depth to them.
All SFX have baked-in Soundminer’s meta data
RECORDED WITH: Sound Devices MixPre 6 + Senhheiser MKH8060, DPA4060, PCM D100
EDITED WITH: iZotope RX, Wormhole, Modular, Waves, TC Electronics, Pro Tools.
Static Space is a collection of 155 UCS-compliant space or Sci-Fi sound effects, focused on continuous, seamless loops. Instead of fly-by’s and accelerations, you get the sounds of space ships going at cruise speeds or idling. If you need motion, just add panning, fades and doppler as you like.
Here are plenty of loops for designing alien environments, including engine rooms, general room tones, strange transmissions and more. Additionally, I have made sure to add plenty of variety; both in terms of moods, frequency content and tonality. Some of these are unmistakably space sound effects, while others are more ambiguous, and could be used for other high tech environments as well.
You will find both low- and high end sweeteners, so when ever you see the words “rumble” or “low end” in a file name; watch that master fader! Furthermore, I went for a strong, almost musical tone, in some sounds, while others are much more noise-based and abrasive.
• Harmonic Series Drones is an extension of several of my music compositions. Over the past few years, I’ve been very interested in data sonification, writing several pieces that turn real-time weather data into music. This library was created using a drone generator that turns weather data into sound. I built this drone generator for my piece Sitka for piano and seasonal electronics.
• Instead of pulling weather data from Sitka, Alaska, as I did in the piece, I used 2016 daily temperature data from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a fragile place wrapped up in current political drama and now open to drilling. This library is a sonification of 2016 temperature data in ANWR. The highest global temperature on record was recorded in 2016 (2016 Global Climate Report). It is even worse in the Arctic where temperatures are warming at twice the rate of lower latitudes (2016 Arctic Report Card). With this library, you’ll be able to hear the warming, and I hope this library helps to draw attention to the rapidly changing environment of the Arctic.
• Each of the forty-eight drones corresponds to the average temperature of a day in 2016, with twelve drones from each of the four seasons. The drones are built from pure tones made from tightly filtered pink noise. These pure tones are then stacked in harmonic series relationships. For instance, a winter drone might consist of the fundamental and four lowest partials. A summer drone could have the fundamental and partials seven, fourteen, and thirty-two.
• The drones stand on their own without the story. If you never knew they started with weather data, you would still find a variety of pure, rich, microtonal drones with enough variety to fit the mood of any project.
2% FOR THE ENVIRONMENT:
• Two percent of the price of this library is donated to an environmental cause. I view it as an “artist royalty” for the planet!

Sci-Fi Electric is a collection of sparks, static, drones, hums, zaps and textures! The library features 64 files with over 80 audio clips. Here you’ll find a wealth of processed sounds for your Sci Fi adventure. Source material ranges from beard scratching to lap steel pickup interference.
Through processing they end up as “alienistic” textures, sparks, static, drones, hums, zaps, ambiences, and whatever else your imagination can come up with! Other sounds include raw microphone feedback, streetlight buzz, and electrical static.
The source material ranged from beard scratching to lap steel pickup interference… This one was fun to make, and it will be even more fun for you to play with!
Bowed Bass features over 30 drones and swells created from the sound of a bowed Electric Fender Jazz Bass, which was then sent through various hardware reverbs, delays and distortion all aiding to create a catalogue of developing rich textural sounds. If you’re caught short and what you really need to do is create a powerful sense of dread, bowed bass has the answer.
From chaotic scratchy swells to deep rumbling murmurs this collection of twisted bowed bass sounds is a fantastic selection to add to your sonic palette.
Bowed Bass contains 887MB (over 20 minutes total) of high quality 24bit/96kHZ Stereo WAV files, labelled in UCS format and metadata embedded.

The RE-201 Space Echo. Introduced in 1973 is Roland’s most notable outboard FX unit, its sound is both utility and musical. The Space Echo carves its place in music history with its sweeping echoes and infinite oscillations. Its warm and pleasant sound has been heard a million times in a million different ways in both score and album. Hear its soothing oscillations, its creaking pleather case, switches, knobs, and vintage science fiction expressive UI and emotive aural gestures.
We have designed this library to be as useful as possible while offering an insight into every sound the RE-201 Space Echo offers. This means both the internal, and external sound sources from the whirls and vibrations of its motor, to the clicks, snaps, and clunks of its switches and into the world of its echoes, spring reverb, and oscillations of its processed sound.

We have also captured sounds from window glass, busy roads with vehicle pass bys, metal posts and rails with impacts, water passing through pipes, metal containers, plastic buckets and much, much more.
All of the included sounds were then precisely edited and designed by our dedicated in house team to build ambiences such as: outer space, underground bunkers, submarines, weather stations, underground sewers, a labyrinth of metal pipes, nuclear wastelands, research bases, boulder movement, metal ghost voices, spirits calling, subsonic water texture, tree bark connection, wind interference and many more. In addition, all the files are available in 24Bit 96kHz and with UCS compliant metadata to integrate seamlessly with your workflow.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
