Finalist – Best Sound Effects Libary – Indie Sound Awards 2022
The sound ‘Kind Creature’ made with the V7 library won the British Sound of the Year Award presented by The Museum Of Sound and The New BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
Custom made sounds made with the V7 are used in the scores for Control, Wolfenstein and newer projects by award winning game composer Martin Stig Andersen.
V7 is a home-built metal spring sound-tool made from an old measurement-unit found at a flea market. Now – disassembled, rebuilt and mounted amongst other things with a 33 foot long Giant Spring that connects the measurement box to an open metal staircase and creates a natural spring reverb.
I Played with a bow, friction rubber clubs, metal slides, whipped cream gas cartridges and a souvenir Eiffel Tower.
The result is a unique sound effect library of massive metallic hits, gongs, scrapes, squeaks, friction, rumbles and rattles. From subtle, soft squeaks and harsh, brutal metal shrieks to long and deep musical metal moans.
V7 is recorded with an Ehrlund EHR-E microphone placed inside the metal box. All files are in 96 kHz/24 bit and contains the original acoustic recordings.
73 files with 700 + individual sounds – all tagged with detailed Universal Category System (UCS) metadata.
This library gives you a variety of heavy hitting Impacts and epic whooshes as well as science fiction fly-by sounds or stabbing trailer synths.
If you need the right Impacts for your next movie trailer or a big pass by for your science fiction short movie, „Whoosh and Push“ will have the right sound for you.
A total of 489 sound effects are in this library. Consisting of 148 impacts and synth effects, and 341 Whooshes and Fly-Bys.
DESCRIPTION:
• In Pacific Northwest: Falling Snow, get an expansive collection of falling snow and ice from the pristine wilderness of the Eastern Cascades, Washington. Hear the soothing crystalline rain of snowflakes gently falling in a winter wonderland. Hear tree-alanches as snow and ice plastered to branches is dislodged by sun-melt and wind. Hear massive wind gusts slowly wandering down valleys over 60 seconds. Hear hellacious debris clouds as gusts hit local canopies and dislodge snow hurricanes of powder, ice, and branches.
• This library offers you a large collection of falling snow from soothing snowflakes to snow hurricanes. I hope you enjoy listening to the awesome power of wintertime in the remote mountains of Washington.
2% FOR THE ENVIRONMENT & CARBON NEUTRAL:
• Two percent of the price of this library is donated to an environmental cause, as an “artist royalty” for the planet!
• Carbon offset credits were purchased to offset my field recording travel for this library.
Foliage Sweeteners are great for characters creeping around in the bushes, running through the trees, or just walking through the park. You can add specific environmental sounds to your ambiences, such as individual leafy tree branches that dip into frame, or cattails and bushes reacting to a gust of wind. These sounds are also great for nature documentary, whether you have a squirrel climbing a tree, a bear plowing through a forest, a cheetah stalking from the underbrush, or just a cow eating grass.

Baltic Forest is a collection of ambient recordings captured over one year in a private forest in Northern Lithuania. 53 carefully recorded exterior ambiences made during summer, autumn, winter and spring. From the bright sound of native birds in spring and summer, to the freezing cold (-20 Celsius) snow storms and tree movements of autumn and winter – sometimes recording in knee-deep snow.
All sounds were recorded and edited at 24-bit / 96kHz, with embedded meta data.
Cicadas is a collection of summer ambiences recorded in Southern Spain over the course of 2018 summer. You will get massive chorus in different densities and areas, individual chirps, and a designed section.
The temperatures during this time of the year are so high, ranging from 30ºC to 45ºC (86ºF to 113ºF), that cicadas are always present in daytime. The higher the temperatures, the more cicadas chirp. Having this in mind, some recordings from early June have less cicadas than the ones recorded in July and August. In addition to this, there are recordings both in the morning, where the cicadas are not so many but are already present, and in the evening, chirping all of them as a chorus after a whole day under the sun. The library contains:
All files come in 96 kHz / 24 bit and with embedded metadata, both in Soundminer and BWAV.
UCS compliant metadata. Fields included CatID, Category, Subcategory, FX Name, Filename, Description, BWDescription, Library, RecType, RecMedium, Microphone, Designer, Manufacturer, Keywords, VendorCategory.
Featuring more than 250 minutes of cicadas recordings plus 65 minutes from the Designed Section.

Boilers, turbines, recycle pumps! Desulphurisation flues, electrostatic precipitators, and solar photovoltaic arrays! We don’t entirely know what these things do – but we know for certain they sound amazing!
Last year we were granted access to one of the UK’s largest coal-fuelled power stations. With hard hats, steel toes, and a swag of mics we recorded every space and machine we could. The result is a highly comprehensive collection of industrial recordings that describe heavy 20th century industry.
We’re talking about the archetypal power station too, not something dumbed down for 2020. This place was the real deal! Great big looming cooling towers, massive halls of turbine engines, coal mills, rumbling underground passages, rooms full of electrical gadgets, pumps of all types, oh and a coal train unloading a 100 ton hopper. It’s a hell of a library.
We recorded in a quad setup using a pair of Sanken CO-100ks, a pair of Sennheiser 8020s. We also had a Schoeps CMXY nearby getting an independent perspective. The recordings are versatile, pitch like crazy, and are useful for hundreds of applications.
These power stations won’t be around much longer – so we’re glad we got a chance to record this beast of industry while we could.
Enjoy!
“There’s a lot of great stuff in here. A nice variety of steadies for sci-fi and industrial use. There’s also tracks with just the right amount of activity (not TOO busy). Authentic scale is hard to fake so this is a great pack of sounds to have for large mechanical spaces. Great steam/air releases too, and a large servo motor startup that is a real gem.” -Dave Farmer
“It is always a handy to have a library from these guys. Well recorded and full of interest, Power Station is a great library and full of never before heard sounds. It’s sometimes difficult to visualise a space from a recording, but definitely not with this collection. They’re huge and real. Most of the time drones and tones can feel synthetic, but they have really managed to capture a true real industrial soundscape. They are definitely colossal.” – Ben Meechan

The BMW K100 rs Motorcycle library was recorded by placing 2 dpa 4060s on the engine, and two ME4 on the bike itself.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
