  • Little Boxes is a curated collection of four unique sound sets designed to compliment one another sonically and texturally. These textures move from acoustic to electroacoustic to analog synthesis – all programmed into beautiful Kontakt 4 instruments (full NI Kontakt
    4.2.3 or later required).

Comes with the following four boxes:

    Box 1. Earthquake Detector:

littleboxes earthquake detectorA small device meant to be hung flat on the wall, the balls will swing and strike the strings if the ground begins to move.
This box was shaken, plucked, strummed, performed and ebowed to produce a beautiful palette of acoustic string textures.
In Kontakt those sounds evolved into a group of instruments that ran from folksy, zither like patches to lush, shimmering pads.

    Box 2. Folktek Microgarden:
micro gardenA handmade DIY electroacoustic device, this box is built by Arius Blaze at folktek and features a uniquely electric sound while still allowing for very expressive performances.
Capable of percussion, pads, boings and buzzes, this is a unique and versatile box.
In Kontakt the sounds evolved into an exotic group of instruments ranging from synth pads and percussion kits to vintage otherworldly sonic spectra.
    a truly unique piece.

Box 3. MFO Weird Sound Generator:weird sound box
A DIY analog synth built from a kit, this box yields a broad palette of thick, dynamic, chunky synth tones and evolving textures.
After tweaking knobs and rolling for hours, each chunk of sound that made the cut was carefully edited, tagged, and then further sculpted to achieve its final state.
In Kontakt a broad palette of luscious pads, thick warm basses, and polyphonic instruments emerged from the source textures.

Box 4. Dementia Labs optical theremin:
thereminA DIY circuit bent one-off custom theremin, this one features an elaborate unlabeled patchbay, a bunch of unlabeled knobs, and a light sensor as a modulator.
This box yielded tons of static and crunchy textures, as well as some very retro sounding musical pads.
The Kontakt patches turned into a pile of far out synths, analog crackles, and fuzzy goodness.

Note: Can be used without Kontakt too!
All Kontakt instrument libraries include fully unlocked and accessible metadata tagged .wav files. You don't need any version of Kontakt to use these files as a standalone sample library.

  • A killer antique accordion full of paper crinkles, key clacks, sick sounding wheezes and old wood creaks. The antique accordion was rescued from a local antique shop. It has a hole in the bellows that creates a distinct wheezing sound, and it is loaded up with strange squeaks, pops and paper textures.

We rolled on this instrument for about an hour, and did everything from flicking the keys to dropping and pounding it. The accordion took some abuse, but in the end what it gave back was a wealth of old sounding textures you can’t fake.

This instrument was recorded at 24 bit 96k, in dual mono – with an AT4050 for a wide perspective and a Schoeps CMC6.MK4 for a close perspective. Comes with 57 .wav files and 19 Kontakt .nki files (the .nki files require the full retail version of NI Kontakt 4.2.3 or later)

Note: Can be used without Kontakt too!
All Kontakt instrument libraries include fully unlocked and accessible metadata tagged .wav files. You don't need any version of Kontakt to use these files as a standalone sample library.

  • 3 mic perspectives give full coverage on an antique typewriter in good working condition.  The typewriter had a loose front plate and we clacked, hit and dropped it for a wide range of cool typewritery sounds. The Kontakt instrument presets requires the full version of NI Kontakt 4.2.3 or later.

  • Drones & Mood Sound Effects Kyma Ambiences – vol.1 Play Track 56 sounds included, 112 mins total From: $49

Kyma Ambiences [USO003] is the third sound effects bundle created by Matteo Milani.

The generation of these “Artificial Reality Ambiences” starts entirely in Symbolic Sound Kyma from the processing of white and pink noise by filtering – in the time/spectral domains – and convolving these sources with custom FM, additive, formant and granular synthesis.

The composition’s resource of sound material is drawn solely from these processed stochastic sound elements: coloured noise is a raw material already full of life and can be sculpted into a variety of temporal forms, movements and textures.

The interaction with Kyma was typical of a composer who explored a device’s potential for sound transformation like a musical instrument. The goal was to obtain an organic and acoustic quality using only a restricted sound source, in order to evoke real spatial characteristics attached to each invented sound.

The “Kyma Ambiences vol.1” sound effects collection is published @ 96kHz (native) – and is also available as dual-layer separated “Elements”, suitable for recombinant stratification, varispeed and spatial positioning in the surround field (for a total of 112 files @ 96kHz).

  • Electromagnetic informations are invisible and omnipresent. In every city, especially the big ones, an infinite number of electromagnetic waves is hidden: we can’t hear them, but they’re everywhere! Unseen Noises explores the “invisible” noise pollution transducing electromagnetic fields into audio signals with a telephone pickup: it acts like a radio antenna for hum and weird electromagnetic noises.

We used telephone tap coils that receive electromagnetic signals around us and convert them into audible information to discover invisible and surprising aspects of the environment in which we live in.

To widen our sound palette, we explored cell phones, tablets, light systems, automated teller machines, wireless communication systems, anti-theft security devices, surveillance cameras, computers, navigation systems, wireless Internet routers, neon advertisings, public transportation networks.

We just used the system of electromagnetic induction as way of amplifying musical sounds. Our efforts were focused on finding “articulated” behaviours and other musical qualities in them.

Note that the files contained in “Unseen Noises” are real performances executed on different devices without editing.” – Matteo Milani

  • Hologram Room [USO001] is the first bundle of the abstract Sound Design Collection produced by Matteo Milani.
These two gigabytes of “ready to use” original sound elements are designed to help you sweetening and enhancing your sound production. The whole library is organized in eight main folders: Active Drones, Alarms, Blips, Buttons, Communications, Ignitions, Telemetries, Transitions. It provides a selection of out of this world drones and ambiences, futuristic sound effects and electronic tools.

  • 800+ sounds from one of the most complex and varied sounding instruments that we’ve come across in our junk shop travels. Broken strings, creaky wood and a great resonant cavity gave us a massive collection of sounds ready to be bent and twisted.

This is a fretless German harp zither, which differs in quality significantly from concert zithers, which have several strings with fretted necks beneath them. This version was manufactured by Friederich Menzenhauer, the father of the zither in the US. Zithers of this kind are notoriously difficult to identify because they contain no distinguishing marks on the bodies themselves, and the only branding is on the paper label deteriorating inside the soundhole.

Our version had been worn beyond all repair through decades of age and neglect. Broken strings, creaky wood and a great resonant cavity gave us a massive collection of sounds ready to be bent and twisted.

We did much more than just throw a couple of mics up and pluck – this instrument was recorded with a stethoscope mic, a lav inside the cavity, overhead xy, room mics, and more. We banged, scraped, bowed, ebowed, and thumped every last noise out of this one in three separate sessions. The end result was a collection of about 5 Gb of edited stereo 24 bit 96k sound.

The Kontakt instruments are where the real magic happens with this instrument. There are presets for horror string hits, angelic and demonic pads, old creaks and more. The zither barely survived, but it gave us an array of sounds that are very different from what you’ll get from a properly tuned and maintained instrument. It is the uniqueness of the decay that gives our zither its character.

Forgotten Zither is available in two versions

Key features for the Forgotten Zither Limited Collection

    • 88 unique articulation groups
    • 10+ performances per articulation
