This sound library celebrates the iconic sound of the Rolls-Royce “Merlin” V12 petrol engine.
Used in many aircraft during World War II, this small library was based on the opportunity to get up close to a fully-restored Merlin engine, which is mounted on a display trailer with a propeller attached.
Proudly owned by Paul Lawrence, this library features recordings of a number of static engine runs from different perspectives. The exhausts distinctly “pop” whenever the throttle is closed- a reminder that this engine most certainly does “spit fire”!
An added bonus to this library is that it includes a number of authentic flypasts of the Merlin engine as heard in the classic aircraft of WWII proudly maintained by the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
Racing Vehicles Pass-By Bundle compiles seven hours and twenty-six minutes of sports cars at a racetrack, including quiet practice sessions and main series events with minimal crowd conversations or unnecessary background noise, and a speaker narrating certain competitions. Recorded at three distinct locations, this bundle includes long takes at the finish line and on the tightest corner of this particular racetrack, capturing plenty of engines revving, drifting and cars driving off into the distance, ideal for media scenes set in these environments, or for creative sound design purposes, as these takes were recorded at only five meters from the vehicles themselves. Also included are recordings of engines revving in the pit lane before the competitions.
Sports cars series included on this bundle are the following:
Ambisonics – Racing Vehicles Pass-By contains:
Bonus Content: Racing Vehicles Pass-By Bundle includes an additional twenty-nine minutes of recordings from a GT Series event, along with a Superstock 600 + Sidecar folder featuring over forty-five minutes of these rare vehicles racing in official competitions.
This sound library is available in both Ambisonics FuMa (B Format) and Stereo (Binaural) formats.
Check out the Hyundai Tucson Diesel Automatic 2019 Model. I took advantage of my old family car, which provided me the opportunity to capture some genuinely cool and authentic sounds. In order to get the best quality audio for the ‘non-moving’ shots, we chose a quiet car park at night, ensuring the environment was serene and devoid of any intrusive noise. For the driving shots, we devised a custom mic stand/rig tailored specifically to keep the microphone steady, guaranteeing the sound remained as sharp and crisp as possible. With our 28 years of extensive experience in post-production, you can absolutely count on us to meticulously transform your film’s audio from AAF to the final WAV format, ensuring it is imbued with remarkable detail and unparalleled quality.

I’ve lived in houses near busy roads. Cars driving by at all hours of the day…. Pass Bys… Vehicle Revs, Engine Rumbling, etc etc etc…..Ruining perfectly good recordings. But this time, it’s used to our advantage. All recordings are made during sound effect record sessions. Instead of removing unwanted car sounds, they are amplified, isolated, gained up, increased level.
All recordings range from 0-500Hz and can be used to create organic, real drone like sounds. Rumble, Tremble, Quake, Shake, Sci Fi, Pitch Bends, Rev, Resonates, Trembles and more. Use as a layer in a drone, vehicle, LFE/Subwoofer channel, and whatever else comes to mind. So buckle up and listen carefully, put on your best headphones or listen on your best speaker system.
Disclaimer: Be cautious, these sounds have extreme high volumes in the lower frequencies. Please take care, don’t listen too loudly.
Exterior Rumble Inside uses no special processing other than EQ, adjusting gain, and using iZotope Rx to assist in selecting frequencies to adjust.
These sound files were recorded at 32bit, 192kHz using the Sennheiser MKH8050, Sennheiser MKH30 and Sanken CO-100K microphones into a Sound Devices Mix Pre-10ii.
All are metadata tagged using the Universal Category System in Soundminer, and also searchable in Soundly, and Basehead.

Realistic and non-realistic (Sci-Fi) explosions, along with imaginative accompanying material such as after-blast ear ringing, fire loops, bomb timers, machinery destruction sound effects, and more. Dry and ready for any environment of your choice. The goal when creating this pack was to go beyond what explosion packs usually offer. We have included some great additions to the standard explosion sounds.
These come in multiple flavors and offer the flexibility to choose the type of debris that matches your idea. Some of the explosions are also designed to have a bit of ricochet sound in them which is desired for certain scenarios.
Made for projects that do not require realism, just some unique explosion sounds. Great for sci-fi and puzzle games for example. We also included a few retro 8bit explosion designs into this category.
Not quite realistic, but not unrealistic too! Generic all-around explosions for a variety of projects. Where there are multiple variations of an explosion like for ‘Basic (variation 1 to 4)’ it means it can be adjusted to randomly select from the 4 variations in order to provide a better experience for the gamers, especially if the sound is used a lot.
Here is where the cool stuff can be found. These ideas go hand in hand with explosions and can spice up your game.

Animal Hyperrealism Vol III is a library containing sounds themed animal vocalisations, from real to designed creatures totaling more than 1700 individual sounds in 279 files.
The sounds were recorded in zoos and wildlife centers. The asset list includes but is not limited to: european red deers, monkeys, reindeers, hornbills camels, crickets, tamarins, boars, frogs, red ruffed lemurs, parrots, and many more.
The content has been recorded at 192KHz with a Sanken CO100K plus a Sennheiser 8050 for center image and a couple of Sennheiser MKH8040 for stereo image.
Part of the cheats section of the library features samples recorded at 384KHz. For these sounds an additional microphone was employed, specifically the CMPA by Avisoft-Bioacoustics which records up to 200 KHz. This microphone was used to record most of the library but the 384KHz format was preserved only where energy was found beyond 96KHz not to occupy unnecessary disk space.
All files are delivered as stereo bounce of these for mics, though in some instances an additional couple of CO100K was added to the sides.
The resulting ultrasonic spectrum is rich and allows for truly extreme manipulation of the content.
Audiobeast is proud to present our second sample library; the only library of its kind to focus entirely on weapons being fired in urban environments! For this recording session we were given access to a military training site known as a FIBUA (Fighting In Built-Up Area) consisting of streets with a variety of buildings, vehicles, and exclusive permission to fire weapons in several locations. Pictures of the street and gas station locations and firing points are included.
The aim of this library was to offer the slapback type tails needed for gun sound design for convincing city scenes in film, games and tv production. It’s always been difficult to find gun recordings in a city environment so we hope this library helps sound people everywhere.
This Library contains over 3 GBs of weapons being fired in multiple urban environments, a street, outside of a gas station and inside of a tower block. 218 WAV files of single shots, bursts and many with multiple takes, all recorded at 96 khz 24 bit, with heaps of information on microphones used and distance from the firearms.
Various distances were captured, from the DPA4062 on the guns themselves, to the distant other end of the street 100 metres away. To add, some mics were positioned around corners, a nearby graveyard, through walls and in armored vehicles to capture a variety of perspectives.
Minimal cleanup on the recordings was carried out very carefully so as not to introduce any artefacts into the recordings, they are presented as raw as possible.
If you need a wider selection of interior gun recordings please check out our first library – The London Warehouse Firearms library
Florida Thunder by Eric Berzins contains 111 distinct wav files with over 200 dry thunderclaps and over 300 thunderclaps with rain. All files were recorded in the US state of Florida between 2021 and 2025. Florida has more lightning strikes than any other U.S. state! All files have been meticulously edited and cleaned, and have embedded UCS-compliant Soundminer metadata.
Animal Hyperrealism Vol I is a library containing sounds themed animal vocalisations, from real to designed creatures totaling more than 1300 individual sounds in 290 files.
The sounds were partly recorded with animals trained for media production, partly recorded in zoos and wildlife centers. The asset list includes but is not limited to: african lions, bengal tigers, horses, donkeys, cows, exotic birds, owls, bobcats, pumas, dromedaries, wolves, dogs, geese, lemurs, gibbons and many more.
All the content has been recorded at 192KHz with a Sanken CO100K plus a Sennheiser 8050 for center image and a couple of Sennheiser MKH8040 for stereo image. All files are delivered as stereo bounce of these four mics, though in some instances an additional couple of CO100K was added to the sides.
The resulting ultrasonic spectrum is rich and allows for truly extreme manipulation of the content.
With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
