  • Mechanical Sound Effects Antique Engines Play Track 60+ sounds included, 84 mins total $35

Introducing Antique Engines. In it, hear expressive examples of restored late 19th and early 20th-century stationary and moving engines. Some appear to hiss, spit and cough. Others puff and snort. Some just wheeze, gasping for air like their mechanical lives depend on it. My favorite pant like tired old dogs stretched out atop a Louisiana levee at the end of August.

I was able to record some engines from start up to shut down. Others were caught during the middle of their displays. Files with too much competing noise were discarded.

Each sound is captured at 96kHz/24bit with either a Sony PCM D100 recorder (and its built in microphones in XY) or Line Audio CM3 mics in ORTF using a Sound Devices 702 recorder or Sound Devices Mixpre-D/Sony PCM M10 combination. Also, there are 31 meticulously crafted seamless loops, in case your project calls for them.

  • Ultrasonic recordings of real firearms because your game doesn’t need to sound like NERF guns.

  • Animal Sound Effects California Grassland Bundle Play Track 160+ sounds included From: $190 From: $150

The California Grassland Bundle includes two Libraries, California Grassland Abandoned and California Grassland Wildlife. The recordings from this library mostly took place in The Carrizo Plain, an open expanse of Grassland located West of the Mojave Desert in California’s Central Valley.

California Grassland Abandoned recordings feature dilapidated remnants of old ranches, water tanks, barns, metal sheds, farm machinery, and corrals.  Many of these were far off the beaten path and a number of miles were logged along dirt and gravel roads.  The focus was to record things that had a lot of character.  Also included are calm, medium, and higher winds in metal sheds, small houses, barns, tall dry grass, and in some exterior locations out in the Plain.

California Grassland Wildlife features of over 30 different species of birds that can be found in Grassland, Plains, and High Desert Environments.  Also included are a few recordings of Coyotes, Grasshoppers, Insects, along with some quieter ambiences.

At first glance, one wouldn’t think there’d be much wildlife out in such a vast remote area, but I discovered the Grassland has quite a bit going on.  A lot of the old structures, along with the few areas with trees become the resting place and shelters for birds and animals.  Over a span of two years I made a number of trips to this location trying to capture as much of the local wildlife as I could.

More info on both libraries can be found by clicking on the Individual links.

  • Audiobeast is proud to present our second sample library; the only library of its kind to focus entirely on weapons being fired in urban environments!  For this recording session we were given access to a military training site known as a FIBUA (Fighting In Built-Up Area) consisting of streets with a variety of buildings, vehicles, and exclusive permission to fire weapons in several locations.  Pictures of the street and gas station locations and firing points are included.

The aim of this library was to offer the slapback type tails needed for gun sound design for convincing city scenes in film, games and tv production.  It’s always been difficult to find gun recordings in a city environment so we hope this library helps sound people everywhere.

This Library contains over 3 GBs of weapons being fired in multiple urban environments, a street, outside of a gas station and inside of a tower block. 218 WAV files of single shots, bursts and many with multiple takes, all recorded at 96 khz 24 bit, with heaps of information on microphones used and distance from the firearms.

Various distances were captured, from the DPA4062 on the guns themselves, to the distant other end of the street 100 metres away. To add, some mics were positioned around corners, a nearby graveyard, through walls and in armored vehicles to capture a variety of perspectives.

Minimal cleanup on the recordings was carried out very carefully so as not to introduce any artefacts into the recordings, they are presented as raw as possible.

If you need a wider selection of interior gun recordings please check out our first library – The London Warehouse Firearms library
