  • Finnhamn – Sounds From The Kvarken Archipelago is a collection of natural soundscapes recorded in the Finnish nature during one year.

Finnhamn is a small peninsula in the Kvarken World Heritage Site. Here you can find both wild coastal and calm archipelago landscapes, an old growth forest, wetland, lakes and open plains.

This covers in other words a lot of the landscapes you will find in Scandinavia.

The recordings where made during a one year period, so soundscapes from all four seasons are well covered.

The trail to the old fishing cottage on the hill of the headland goes trough a 300 year old protected forest that is home to a multitude of animals, birds, insects, trees and plants, some of which we get to know more intimately in these recordings. Finnhamn is located in the unique Kvarken Archipelago, which is Finland’s only Natural World Heritage Site on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Together with Sweden’s High Coast, the Kvarken Archipelago is the best place in the world to experience and understand the land uplift phenomenon caused by the last Ice Age.

The isolated location of Finnhamn and the adjacent forest is rather unique in that sense, that not much sound pollution reaches it. It is well worth a visit if you want to experience deep natural quiet and wonderful and invigorating nature.

The package contains 165 files with a total playing time of 14 hours!

    Recorded in 48kHz & 24 bit with a Sound Devices 633 recorder, DPA 4061 microphones and JRF D-series hydrophones. Presented in 48kHz, 24 bit & 44.1kHz, 16 bit stereo.

    The compressed package is 9.8/4.5GB.

The tracks are labeled according to the UCS standard, except for the first 4 characters that indicates the order in which the tracks where recorded. If you want to use a database that speaks the UCS language, then please remove the first 4 characters of the filename. You can then arrange the tracks in the right order using the last UserData field (the date).

It includes all of the sounds from the FOREST DAY and the FOREST NIGHT Sound Libraries, along with the Rivers and Lakes featured in the OCEANS RIVERS LAKES library. ‘Suburban Wilderness II’ includes 59 unique ambiences recorded in Germany during spring, specifically in April 2022, from 4 p.m. to 4 p.m. the following day. From these 24 hours of recordings, I have carefully edited and curated the best moments, creating a 4 GB auditory journey from afternoon to evening, through the night, and into the morning and midday hours in this residential forest setting.

To capture the profound silence of the night, I used a matched pair of Rode NT1-A microphones with exceptionally low noise, paired with a Tascam HD-P1 recorder.

The total duration of the library is approximately 4 hours, with most ambiences ranging from 5 to 10 minutes. Some are longer, while a few are shorter.

  • Animal Sound Effects African Grey Parrot Play Track 225 sounds included, 4 mins total $55

    DESCRIPTION:
    • In African Grey Parrot, get a musical collection of parrot vocalizations from Myrtle the parrot. Hear short squeaks so adorable I couldn’t help but smile and powerful clicks that sound like alien languages. Hear visceral screeches that could cause nightmares and playful whistles so musical you’d think she had a tune stuck in her head.
    • This library offers you a collection of sounds from a fascinating species. I didn’t know one parrot could make such a wide variety of vocalizations and it was a joy to hear them for the first time as I got to know Myrtle over several sessions. I hope you enjoy them too. Thanks for listening.

    KEY FEATURES:
    • Visceral screeches
    • Alarm calls
    • Playful squawks and sqeaks
    • Musical whistles
    • Whooshing wing flaps
    RECORDING STORIES:
    • A friend of mine in Philly recently got an African Grey Parrot. These parrots can live 40-60 years as pets, so this is a serious long-term commitment. People have to put these parrots in their will because your parrot often outlives you!
    • Myrtle the parrot is an adolescent and is discovering her voice. I was lucky to be able to spend 4 separate session with her as she explored the full range of her vocal chords.
    • I was only the second human Myrtle had spent time with, so she was very nervous during the first session. I mostly captured alarm calls and nervous screeches.
    • However, as I returned for more sessions, she became more comfortable and made a wide variety of happy and playful calls. My favorites was the clicks she makes that sound like an alien language.
Lessons Learned – I recorded Myrtle in Double Mid/Side, left the mics on a stand near her, and then backed away. Because I recording in surround, when she moved off axis, I could rotated the surround image in Harpex to center the final stereo rendering included in this library. By leaving the mic in one place Myrtle got comfortable and I was able to capture joyful and playful sounds from this captivating species of parrot.

  • Animal Sound Effects Angry Chipmunk Play Track 150 sounds included, 13 mins total From: $45

    DESCRIPTION:
    • In Angry Chipmunk, get a maniacal collection of enraged rodents. Hear fierce repetitive chirps and visceral trills so close they can’t help but startle. Hear frantic scuttling movement and barks that sound like villainous laughter when pitched down.
    • This library offers you a collection of sounds from a rodent with loads of character. Northern Maine has the highest density of angry chipmunks of any place I have recorded. Chipmunks are incredibly territorial and they really did not like me recording near their trees. They even chewed through some of my cables to show their displeasure! But it was worth it to hear their scrappy vocalizations up close. I hope you enjoy them too. Thanks for listening.

    KEY FEATURES:
    • Angry territorial calls
    • Close and distant perspectives
    • Trills
    • Barks
    • Screams
    • Chirps
    • Frenetic scuttling movement
    RECORDING STORIES AND TIPS:
    • Chipmunks and other rodents are much more active in coniferous groves. They love the nuts dropped by the white pine trees in Maine.
    • That said, be careful when leaving drop rigs in coniferous groves. Plan to lose some cables to chipmunks and mice that don’t like you mounting microphones in their neck of the woods. I’ve had them gnaw on cables, dry bags, and even my microphone blimp! Luckily the rain stopped before they did their gnawing, so it didn’t ruin the recordings!
    • When doing long cable runs in coniferous groves, try using garden stakes to elevate the cable so that it isn’t running along the ground. Getting the cable off the ground 30 centimeters or so tends to discourage gnawing. This can also be useful so you don’t get sticky sap all over your cables.
    • Chipmunks love to startle you. Many a time, I was listening to a peaceful forest soundscape when one decided to slowly creep out on a branch right near my mics and then suddenly blast my ears with a barks, trills, and screams. Scares me half to death every time. The joys of field recording :)

Cat Close-Up captures the subtle, healing sounds of a domestic cat at very close range — focusing mainly on purring, but also containing drinking and licking.

This modest collection was recorded using a Nevaton MC59 cardioid microphone paired with a Sound Devices MixPre-II recorder, allowing for exceptional detail, depth, and warmth. The proximity effect of the MC59 cardioid microphone brings out the rich low frequencies of the purr, giving it a tactile and soothing presence. Every sound is designed to feel close, soft, and real, even if the sounds are mono. The mono format creates an immersive, grounded feel — ideal for projects that benefit from a direct, unembellished sound rather than broad stereo space.

Though compact in size, the library was crafted with care to extract the most emotionally resonant tones from these everyday moments of feline life.

    Includes:

Continuous and broken purring (deep, soft, rhythmic)
Licking sounds (grooming fur, tongue on fur)
    Drinking (lapping water, natural variations)

    Tech Specs:

Recorded with Nevaton MC59 cardioid mic + Sound Devices MixPre3-II
    24bit / 96kHz WAV
Cleaned and lightly edited, ready to use
    UCS compatible file names, descriptions

  • The Seagulls sfx library includes 28 tracks of both single, isolated seagull screams, and bigger flocks of nesting seagulls, calling out to each other and their chicks. There are plenty of classic call sounds, but also some weird throaty and raspy screaming, and what could sound like seagull laughing sounds.

All tracks are recorded with the very useful zoom function of the Telinga microphone and dish.
Library includes both untreated tracks, and noise reduction processed tracks in two separate folders. Noise reduction processed tracks have carefully been cleaned up with a CEDAR NR system.

Though these birds are in an abundance around most harbours and industry around here, they are not always easy to record. You mostly hear them from a distance, or from places not easy to access. When you try to get close to them, they will usually fly away.

Many hours have been spent on rooftops, gardens, backyards, a junkyard, and different harbours to get this material.
