DESIGNED HYPERREAL INSECT AMBIENCES
Designing wing sounds for flying creatures can sometimes be a challenge. And when it comes to creature sounds, it’s all about options. A small bird like a wren sounds very different than an adult gray goose. To find the right texture, and distinguish between wide and narrow wings, or to accomplish the task of designing bat or dragon wings, I created this library.
This library contains over 11GB of data consisting of 341 files and 2539 sound effects. Besides the typical fabric wing flaps, I used all sorts of props sorted by materials like rubber, neoprene, plastic, paper, etc. This opens the door to new creative sound design options to make your flying creature sound exactly how you want it to. I added all sorts of buzzing, clicking and rustling sounds especially for the flying insects.
“The Animal Symphony – Pigs” is a collection of 129 high-quality audio tracks, with a total of 674 individual sounds. The audios are organized with intuitive nomenclature, allowing you to easily switch between different microphones, giving you the flexibility to choose or combine the best recording options. For this collection, we used the Zoom F6 recorder with high-end microphones such as the Sennheiser MKH 8050, the Sanken CO-100K, and an EM258 capsule microphone. Additionally, a Zoom H6 recorder was used in parallel to capture stereo sound. The recordings were made at 24-bit and 192 kHz/96 kHz, ensuring exceptional clarity and depth.
This collection covers a wide range of pig sounds, including grunts, growls, squeals, and more. With multiple inputs and variations, this library offers the flexibility needed for any production requiring pig sounds. All recordings have been meticulously edited to eliminate external noises such as birds, wind or people. In addition, thanks to the ultrasonic microphones used, it is guaranteed that even when lowering the tone, the richness of the frequencies will be maintained.

Finnhamn – Sounds From The Kvarken Archipelago is a collection of natural soundscapes recorded in the Finnish nature during one year.
Finnhamn is a small peninsula in the Kvarken World Heritage Site. Here you can find both wild coastal and calm archipelago landscapes, an old growth forest, wetland, lakes and open plains.
This covers in other words a lot of the landscapes you will find in Scandinavia.
The recordings where made during a one year period, so soundscapes from all four seasons are well covered.
The trail to the old fishing cottage on the hill of the headland goes trough a 300 year old protected forest that is home to a multitude of animals, birds, insects, trees and plants, some of which we get to know more intimately in these recordings. Finnhamn is located in the unique Kvarken Archipelago, which is Finland’s only Natural World Heritage Site on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Together with Sweden’s High Coast, the Kvarken Archipelago is the best place in the world to experience and understand the land uplift phenomenon caused by the last Ice Age.
The isolated location of Finnhamn and the adjacent forest is rather unique in that sense, that not much sound pollution reaches it. It is well worth a visit if you want to experience deep natural quiet and wonderful and invigorating nature.
The package contains 165 files with a total playing time of 14 hours!
Recorded in 48kHz & 24 bit with a Sound Devices 633 recorder, DPA 4061 microphones and JRF D-series hydrophones. Presented in 48kHz, 24 bit & 44.1kHz, 16 bit stereo.
The compressed package is 9.8/4.5GB.
The tracks are labeled according to the UCS standard, except for the first 4 characters that indicates the order in which the tracks where recorded. If you want to use a database that speaks the UCS language, then please remove the first 4 characters of the filename. You can then arrange the tracks in the right order using the last UserData field (the date).
Garden and nature in April: the fresh spring air filled with a morning concert of birds, echoing neighborhood chatter, gardening sounds, dogs barking, roosters crowing, jets and propeller planes passing overhead, as well as the dead silence and eerie presence of nocturnal animals in the depths of the night; the awakening of nature and residents in the early morning hours, and much more.
‘Residential Forest II’ is the second library in my series of long-term recordings from a German allotment environment. This remote area, surrounded by forest, features cottages, ponds, and a rich array of natural sounds. The library blends suburban, residential, and forest ambiences.
‘Residential Forest II’ includes 59 unique ambiences recorded in Germany during spring, specifically in April 2022, from 4 p.m. to 4 p.m. the following day. From these 24 hours of recordings, I have carefully edited and curated the best moments, creating a 4 GB auditory journey from afternoon to evening, through the night, and into the morning and midday hours in this residential forest setting.
To capture the profound silence of the night, I used a matched pair of Rode NT1-A microphones with exceptionally low noise, paired with a Tascam HD-P1 recorder.
The total duration of the library is approximately 4 hours, with most ambiences ranging from 5 to 10 minutes. Some are longer, while a few are shorter.
‘Residential Forest II’ was recorded in AB stereophony at 48 kHz, 24-bit.
• In Wild Turkeys, get an eccentric collection of exuberant gobbles from a flock of wild turkeys. Hear massive wings swooping in to land like helicopters. Hear antiphonal gobbles between two dueling males. Hear amazingly close vocalizations from a Sony D100 left secretly in the grass mere feet from these delightful wild birds.
• This library offers you an extensive collection of funky mating calls from one of the largest birds in North America. I hope they bring a little joy to your sound design sessions. I can’t listen to them without smiling :)

In this library you will find recordings made by tracking a herd of wild Roosevelt Elk in the Pacific Northwest and recording them in the fall at the beginning of the “rut” when the males begin competing for attention of the females. Recording this library I quickly found that searching for a single target species to record is quite different than choosing a location and recording whatever happens to be there. New challenges were presented and a great deal of planning went into finding where the herd was likely to be at the time. With a brilliant stroke of luck all that planning paid off on the first attempt!
Included are 30 sounds of:
All the recordings were made in the same morning, meaning they can be plugged into the same game with a minimal amount of ambience matching. Note that although I made use of a parabolic mic during the recording, because these are wild animals I kept distance and hid behind a bush, staying out of sight of the elk so as not to disturb them. This introduces some extra “air” or ambience into the recording which I have chosen not to remove in order to preserve the integrity of the sound of the elk and to leave this option for you to decide.
I’ve already done the hard part of finding the elk and recording them for you, now you can focus on the creativity of your project.

The Crows library includes 30 stereo tracks of nothing but crow sound effects, perfect for single isolated effects, but also for ambience track layering.
Every sound is recorded inside forests, and close to crows’ nests with younger birds being fed and calling out, and next to natural habitats where bigger flocks gather in trees. It also has a variety of up-close caw sounds from the only tame albino crow in Scandinavia, recorded in a bird’s zoo.
The crow has quite a large vocabulary, and the classic calling usually is a little different from bird to bird. Some are more round when sounding out, while others are just plain hoarse and rusty-sounding.
The library includes both untreated tracks, and noise reduction-processed tracks in two separate folders. Noise reduction-processed tracks have been cleaned up with a CEDAR NR system.
Equipment used: Telinga Stereo Microphone and Flexible dish, and Sound devices 702 Recorder.

Urban Crows is a library full of interesting sounds of single crows and swarms.
These proud birds deserve a lot more attention than they usually get. They are amazingly intelligent, social and by no means aggressive or monotonous when it comes to their communication capabilities.
The library evolved throughout winter 2015/16 and was taken from the attic of a house surrounded by trees were the crows frequently stayed overnight. So it was a great pleasure to record them arriving in the evenings as well as hearing them chatting during the dawn. They have a huge arsenal of clearly distinguishable single caws, funny sighs or nervous screams that often evolved to a huge cluster of noises that became stronger when the church bells began to ring and the sun came up.
All takes are recorded in Mid-Side stereo, with Sennheiser MKH-70 shotgun for a strong mid-signal and AKG-C394B for the ambience. The total playing time of the library is approx. 1h 30min.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
