I found a very long disused bore hole in the middle of an Icelandic lava field. I dropped rocks down it, poured water into it, vocalised into it, stroked a rasp file on a plastic bottle stuck into the top of it and other experiments.

The results were insane metallic echoes, delays and reflections.

  • SUPERCHARGE YOUR PROJECTS WITH VOLTAGE
Around us there is an inaudible dimension of sound generated by human technologies and machines. We have captured these electromagnetic fields and present you VOLT, a versatile tool or designing electric sounds with extrem manipulation options. Create energetic movements, sci-fi elements, futuristic engines and weapons, massive impacts or use the sounds as a resource for UI design and the layering of complex ambiences.

This collection brings you 26,76GB of sounds including more than 1800 sfx of electromagnetic recordings as well as pre-designed risers, stingers, drones, user interface sounds and whooshes. You also get a huge toolkit section with loops and oneshots for crafting your own sounds from scratch, optimized for a smooth workflow in samplers like S-Layer.

    AN ELECTRIFYING SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
Our sound hunt took us through extensive recordings of screens, household devices, smartphones, computers, car ignitions and interiors, motors, lights, fuseboxes, synthesizers and much more using a Soma Ether stereo setup and a LOM Elektrouši with a Sound Devices Mix-Pre 6 recorder. The stereo recordings of the Soma Ether often result in a dynamic panorama with unique signals on each channel. Since electromagnetic fields extend to very high frequencies, we recorded the sounds in 192khz so you have the full spectrum and potential to let your creativity run wild and design something entirely new.

  • Roomtones Hospital Ambiance Play Track 24 sounds included, 59 mins total $33

Hospital Ambiance is 59 minutes/1.80 Gb of ambiance recordings from an old hospital. 24 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz A-B stereo. All sounds are UCS-compatible.

Hospital Ambiance was recorded in the rooms and corridors of the old (now defunct) Aarhus County Hospital in Aarhus, Denmark. A prominent feature is the lack of acoustical treatment in corridors and hallways, giving a rather hard and reverberant sound, which is typical of Danish public building styles of the 1930’s and 40’s.

Elevators and automatic doors are heavy and noisy; humming and clanking as patients and staff pass through them. Electric vehicles used to move patients and supplies around inside the complex are old and not exactly noiseless either. Finally, while I did not have access to operating rooms or the like, I did get into a couple of basement corridors, where there were less people and more Hvac noise (yay!).

In some of the recordings, faint, muffled or smeared voices can be heard. While I have removed passages with distinctly Danish words (which might also be connected with specific, recognizable persons), there is still a certain tone and pitch to the Danish language, which may come through on occasion.
All in all, this is the sound of a place that is no more, as this old hospital is being turned into expensive apartments or something to that effect.

  • Kyma Ambiences vol.2 follows the traces of the original collection dated back 2013, but this time it’s bigger and immersive. It contains 100 abstract and evolving ambiences created with our beloved Kyma sound design workstation. Due to the increasing demand of spatialized content for game and VR/AR project, this inspiring collection has been entirely designed as a spherical representation of sound natively in 3rd Order Ambisonics by generating all the Sounds in Kyma and mastering them in Pro Tools through a custom analog setup (Looptrotter Sa2Rate+Elysia xfilter 500+TK Audio BC501).

Ambisonics is a multi-channel technology that lets you spherically capture the sound arriving from all directions, at a single point in space. I used state of the art tools to forge these modern and cinematic soundscapes by blending many encoders to inject different colours into the design process. Each virtual 3D sound environment has been carefully constructed by layering and placing Kyma Sounds at different locations in a virtual three dimensional field using the Audio Ease 360 pan suite. I captured real spatial sound with the AMBEO VR Mic to be encoded-transformed-decoded using Kyma Ambisonic Tookit (1st Order) and then up-mixed to 3rd Order with Harpex-X and PerfectSurround Penteo 16 Pro to extract the maximum amount of spatial information.

    Our Creation Process

We collected these interior recordings over the years, capturing the unique atmospheres of rooms and places during our travels. Our equipment varied across sessions, adapting to the setting—whether in bustling cities, quiet small towns, remote countryside, the Himalayas, the Amazon, or distant islands. Our goal was to document the essence of each space, preserving the aural footprint of every location we visited.

Some recordings feature little more than stillness, while others include traces of local wildlife heard through windows or thin walls. You may also detect ambient noises like heaters, distant hums, machinery, traffic, or neighbors, resonating differently depending on the surrounding architecture.

We meticulously selected the best recordings, refining them to remove sections with excessive variation. Each sound was carefully edited to maintain a level of noise within the ‘subtlety’ range, ensuring they work seamlessly as background atmospheres that smooth out the sonic environment of any scene.

We are proud to present this collection, featuring some of the finest indoor silences we’ve ever captured—rich with delicate, everyday sounds at the edge of human perception. These recordings will help you effortlessly recreate beautiful, immersive spaces with natural charm.
