Environment recordings, ambiences and soundscapes – from all over the world, and beyond
Mountain Rivers sound effects library is about strong, running water, which gains its power from waterfalls. The water falls from big heights and after it comes to the earth, it continues as a fast creek with a lot of water, or as we say “mountain river”. These recordings were made in the one of the most beautiful places in the World, Yosemite National Park.
In the centre of Yosemite Park we can find Merced River (which is 145 miles / 233 km long), surrounded by mountains and waterfalls. Recordings of the Merced River were made from 12 various points and some of them includes recordings which were made with various distances. Also the Mountain Rivers library contains recordings from the bottom of two waterfalls: Bridalveil and Yosemite. Most of these waterfalls recordings were made from the middle of the bridges, the best place for getting awesome panoramic atmosphere.
Bridalveil Fall Bottom (Bridalveil Creek): 3 recordings from 2 bridges and a 4th recording from the side of the mountain river.
Merced River: 12 recordings from 8 points include 1 / 5 / 15 / 20 / 50 meter distances from the mountain river.
Yosemite Fall Bottom (Yosemite Fall Creek): 2 recordings from the bridge in the centre of the mountain river from 2 meters and additional recordings where river was surrounded by rocks with great and unique reverb effect.
Yabby Pumping or Pumpin’ Yabbies (as we call it down under) is a process of sucking sand, mud and water to catch bait for fishing. In this library you will find 62 sound effects that capture those sounds. All files are metatagged.
Please note that my sound libraries do not go on sale (this is so prices are fair all year round), and they are sold exclusively on asoundeffect. :-)
This SFX library gets you the sounds of the remote San Antonio creek located in the Angeles National Forest – 32 recordings in total. The creek morphs from almost a trickle at 8,000 feet to a large waterfall below, allowing for a wide range of moving water sounds to be captured.
Get the ambiences and atmospheres of Amsterdam, the Netherlands in this sound effects library recorded by Ana Monte. It features recordings from around the Dutch capital from locations such as an amusement park, a boat ride, church, ferry ride, metro ride, plaza, the science museum, a street market (a Turkish one, too), a train station, restaurant and more.
Need airport sounds and ambiences? This collection provides good coverage of the common and domestic areas of a modern airport. In total, 19 different recording locations inside the Norwegian airport of Gardermoen have been recorded. A picture from every location is also included for reference.
All files that contain PA announcements have added metadata with a short description of the message. This makes it easier to find the correct announcement for your project. The majority of the announcements are done in both Norwegian and English which is convenient for non-Norwegian speaking sound editors.
Gardermoen airport is the largest airport in Norway, located 35 kilometres northeast of Oslo. Gardermoen is the main international airport in Norway and acts as the main domestic hub. It is also the second busiest airport in the Nordic countries, connecting around 30 domestic and 120 international destinations. In 2014 more than 24 million passengers traveled through Gardermoen.

A field-recorded collection from Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand capturing the sounds of tropical environments, urban life, transport and religious sites.
Southeast Asia includes jungle ambiences, heavy monsoon rains, street markets and traditional ceremonies.
Last September, I spent 3 weeks vacationing in Southeast Asia, visiting Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
During my stay, I recorded everything I thought could be characteristic of those cultures: from tropical to urban environments, religious ceremonies and places of worship, modes of transportation (from boats to tuk-tuks), spoken language, monsoon rain, etc.
The recordings are situational, meaning I didn’t prepare anything before starting to record. If I found myself in a location that seemed suitable, I simply pressed REC.
I used my Tascam DR100 MK3 or the Zoom F6 with a pair of Line Audio OM1 omnidirectional microphones
Audio files are 96kHz/24 Bit. Cleaned and edited for professional use, with UCS naming and full metadata.

This exclusive sound library presents 15 meticulously captured soundscapes recorded deep within the pristine Amazon rainforest during 1995 and 1996. The first expedition, conducted in the municipality of São Félix do Xingu, Pará, utilized the legendary Nagra IV-STC analog recorder. The second expedition, in the Adolpho Duck Forest Reserve, Manaus, Amazonas, employed a portable setup consisting of the pristine AD261 mixer and the HHB Professional Portadat PDR-1000TC. These recordings offer an unparalleled and transparent representation of the Amazon’s rich biodiversity at a time when the region was largely untouched.
Each continuous track, ranging from 3 to 16 minutes, provides an immersive auditory experience of the rainforest’s natural soundscapes. Carefully remastered at 96kHz/24bit, these recordings preserve the original audio quality. Discover the intricate symphony of crickets, the exotic melodies of birdsong, the strident calls of cicadas, and the unique singing of the majestic macaws all captured in their natural habitat.
Organized using the UCS system for easy navigation, this library is an invaluable resource for sound designers, filmmakers, and anyone seeking authentic and high-quality natural sounds.
This Collection of Room Tones contains Recordings made in empty, abandoned old Buildings and Medieval Ruins. Unsettling Draft Sounds from different perspectives. Wind Gusts heard from inside, Wind Storm echoing in old Chapels or Church, eerie humming inside abandoned spaces, Tonal Draft creating creepy atmospheres… Over 2,5 hours of Urbex type ambiences, containing long files and loops for easy use and variety. Recorded in stereo inside and outside interesting, and secret places, which is a rule for urban exploring ;-)
These are not common Room Tones with only presence of a silent room, but more ambiences that are suited for games/movie where characters are supposed to be in shelter, in abandoned places, in castles, dungeons, prisons, machine rooms etc. Cracks, moving structures, rattling objects are left in purposely to really have a detailed and convincing setting for game, documentary or any visual content. Best is to keep the volume low enough to not overdo the atmosphere.
Care is taken to not have any disturbing human traffic in the recordings, so these will fit for most time periods and geographic locations.
A GMC cable tool Sterdrill Keystone USA (1953) – I found one rusting away in a fjord in Iceland and attached a LOM Geofon and Stille and Klang contact microphones.
The results were varying textured breezes moving long grass and decaying loose metal to create rustling, scratching sounds, resonant knocks and also insect and gnawing rodent like sounds.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
