In this large bustling European city, transportation means are plentiful, with tramways, metro, bus, trains, boats, bicycles, … Emergency workers have to be heard distinctively above the city’s clamor.

Vintage Air Travel – Planes, airports, stewardesses, pilots, announcements and more.
This pack contains some of the sounds associated with vintage air travel. Not a specific decade (some parts will be suitable for a contemporary setting), but think of the film ‘Catch Me If You Can’, 60s 70s 80s. An era when smoking was still allowed on planes, when PAN AM and TWA ruled the skies. I have created these ambiences, voices and sounds to suit that era.
There are two ‘tourist information’ tapes, based on the audio that would have accompanied a slide show for visitors to London and Los Angeles.
There are public address announcements that you might hear in an airport.
There’s stewardess VO as heard in the cabin of a jumbo jet and stewardess greetings as you board. A few pilot announcements, sounds of busy jumbo jets in-flight from a passenger perspective. A ride in a Cessna, with pilot chatter, planes passing overhead and more. For a full list of sounds, view the excel document, and play the preview file for a taster.
VARIOUS STANDING WATER ENVIRONMENTS
As used here, WETLANDS include places with standing fresh water such as swamps, marshes, ponds, and lakes. In fact, it’s the water itself that creates these very special acoustic biospheres – as a propagator of sounds, causing them to travel further and louder due to surface reflections and temperature layers.
RICH WILDLIFE SYMPHONIES
WETLANDS encloses recordings of wildlife and scenery at different day times and intensities. Are you looking for recordings of birds playing and hurrying across the water? Late evening frog concerts? Rainfall lapping on the lake? The slap of a beaver tail? Let these examples give you a fair idea of what this beautiful collection has on its great content list.
This Library is also part of The Complete Quiet Planet Bundle.

As a matter of course, the library comprises different weather conditions like various wind levels, dry or wet, rainfall and even a full 1.5 hour recording of a tropical thunderstorm.

Field recordist and composer Ryan Ayers travelled to Japan in April of 2019 and captured this wonderful collection. His journey took him from Osaka to Tokyo to Fukuoka and all points in-between. Travel aboard the trains of the JR, the famous Shinkansen, the Hanyu Ferry and more! Explore the train platforms and station terminals of Osaka. Get lost in the Kansai International Airport. There is a subway noodle shop as well as specialty food markets. Authentic walla and natural activity give this collection the ear candy necessary to be an integral part of great soundscapes.
This is a purely recorded sound pack. Nothing is synthetic or layered here. What you hear is exactly what was captured on location. We edited and mastered the files to bring out the best parts of the recordings. Most of the recordings have been ready-made into loops for ease of use. As always, we have embedded the files with detailed metadata for easy database searches.
Ambiences of Markets, Skylines, a Café etc. from Agadir, Morocco, by award winning Sound Recordist and Sound Editor Rob Bourke, edited and mastered by Sound Designer Ian Macbeth.

We have recorded buses, trains, trams, subways, ferries, escalators and freight trains in this library spanning over 100 files. Arrivals, Despartures, Pass Bys, Internal Rides, Doors and a toilet flushing on a train. It’s all there, for your essential transport needs.

HARBOR & INDUSTRIAL consists of authentic industrial ambiences, one third of which capture sites close to the water. Almost all files are loopable; every sound is ready-to-use and recorded to sit well within your mix. An accessible, yet highly flexible toolkit for you to create signature locations with ease.
LOCATION VARIETY
This collection features a large variety of places to explore – both indoor and outdoor, busy and desolate, organic and constructed. HARBOR & INDUSTRIAL also offers a series of isolated components to assemble just the environment you envision with multiple layers and sources of sound. Especially game environments profit from the diverse palette of sounds available to give each area its own distinct character.
THE SOUND OF SIZE
In HARBOR & INDUSTRIAL you have access to massive mechanical constructs with enough body to set up huge, incredible acoustic scenes. Without sounding intrusive these metallic beasts blend smoothly into their surroundings at just the right proximity and volume.
This collection includes small to big waves such as cliffs, beaches, rocky coasts, and tetrapods.
Captured from close, middle, and distant perspectives in Bousou peninsula, Chiba.
Recorded @ 24bit 96kHz / ORTF, XY and carefully edited.
TOWN & COUNTRY provides a wide range of professional sounds for creating perfectly convincing and realistic town and country ambiences in high-end quality. In addition to a broad and solid foundation of town and country lifestyle, we focused on credible ambiences that are full of detail and at the same time leave enough room to place further sound design in the foreground.
MAJOR STRENGTH: FLEXIBILITY!
The main part of this library consists of extensive – mostly loopable – background ambiences with varying daytimes and locations of town & country sceneries. More detailed and easily accessible sounds of e.g. camp fire, farm animals or an extraordinarily impressive file with flies on a roadkill are another strong addition to your SFX pool.
More than 200 files of vivid town and country days and nights give you all the flexibility you need to bridge the gap between a very rural country life with animals and man-made town sounds. TOWN & COUNTRY has all necessary components to design organic and grounded acoustic backdrops while keeping a naturalistic feel and human touch.
This library contains a large variety of ambiences and drones that stylized as industrial or science fiction. All of these files are derived from on location recording sites and carefully edited and crafted to create a large variety of unique sonic textures. Source material ranges from large industrial buildings, parking garages, utility rooms, air condition unites, fans, buzzing electrical components, analog synthesizers etc.
Recorded in Eastern Oregon’s Great Basin and High Desert Region – classic sounds of the American West, forest or desert.
These tracks are stripped highlights from the hundreds of hours of field recordings I use to make my films. A number of them include the birds fluttering and making deep natural calls right next to the recorder – about as close as you can hope to get of birds in the wild.
• In Northern Rockies: Miniature, get a mini-nature collection of ambiences from the mountains of Montana. Hear hallowed halls carved by glacial sculptors. Hear quaking Aspens and Ruffed grouse drumming on hollow logs. Hear euphoric dawn choruses, merry songbirds, sacred stillness, and stately woodpeckers knocking on forest doors. This library gives you a small collection of both “quiet” and “active” nature sounds from the continental divide of North America.
• Only 26 glaciers (of the 150 in 1850) remain in Glacier National Park and all are predicted to melt within 30 years. Hear the sounds of this stunning natural cathedral while the glaciers remain. The ecosystem won’t sound the same when they’re gone.
2% FOR THE ENVIRONMENT & CARBON NEUTRAL:
• Two percent of the price of this library is donated to an environmental cause. I view it as an “artist royalty” for the planet!
• Carbon offset credits were purchased for the Northern Rockies Series. Field Recording travel for this library was carbon neutral!
From toilets to urinals, trains to planes, this library explores the many different flushing sounds that can be heard in American and European bathrooms.
The flushes were recorded in several varieties; the toilet lid up, the toilet lid down, the recorder close to the toilet, the recorder distant from the toilet, and even some of the refilling cycles as well as the dreaded sound when a toilet won’t flush.
Of all the flushes recorded, 55 are from European toilets, 29 from American toilets, 14 from urinals, 7 from a train, and 6 from a plane, for a total of 111 unique flushing sounds with over 50 minutes of refilling cycles.

Ambiences from Thailand is a collection of sounds from busy and exotic Bangkok, idyllic Railay Beach and Khao Sok with oldest evergreen rainforest in the world. You will hear tourists’ excitement, local Thais conversations, traditional gongs at world-famous temples and cricket chirps and other insects in middle of the night. Additionally you will find soundscapes generated by Asian means of transportation: boats, tuk tuks, buses and planes.
Sounds have been captured in Bangkok, Ao Namm, Railay Beach, Phra Nang Beach, Krabi, Khao Sok and Surat Thani.
UCS-compliant, ambient recordings from various industrial sites, including the port of Aarhus with its bulk cargo and container terminals. Most of the sounds are quite generic though, and could be used in many different contexts. Some recordings are teeming with activity, while others feature deserted, yet humming and droning, industrial landscapes. Lots of HVAC with fans and pumps. Containers are moved, gravel is unloaded, engines are running. Very little wind, and hardly any legible speech. A few of the sounds are cut as seamless loops.
Most of the sounds were originally recorded with a Sennheiser MKH60/30 M/S setup. A few sounds appear in both mono and stereo versions, where the stereo version are X/Y derived from the M/S source files and the mono versions are simply the Mid channel. I did this, because most people seem to prefer X/Y files for post-work, rather than M/S – but a down-mix of X/Y to mono would be inferior to using the original Mid-mic signal. 4 of the sounds were recorded with a quasi binaural setup. All sounds were captured in Aarhus, Denmark.
Home to biggest fashion houses and supermodels, Milan is one of the most entertaining cities in Italy. On the contrary, it’s a secular city that has one of the biggest Gothic cathedrals in the world – the Duomo. Extensive public transport (trams, buses, metro, scooters), canal system and people give this city unique soundscapes. Apart from Milan you will also experience a journey to Lake Como, an upscale resort area know for its dramatic scenery and celebrity homes.
Berlin Ambiances I is 114 minutes/3,69 GB of pure Berlin in 31 separate files – recorded mostly in 24bit/96kHz quasi-binaural stereo, with Primo EM172 omni capsules. All files are UCS-compliant.
This collection contains stealth recordings of various Berlin locations, including a good deal of train sounds and, well, Berliners!
I went to locations such as the Bodemuseum (crazy natural reverbs), the Hauptbanhhof (enormous, diffuse train station-ambiance) and Haus der Kulturen der Welt (great restaurant vibe and busy foyer). All this captured during January 2015, with a head-worn set of near- or quasi-binaural microphones.
Why quasi? Because the microphone elements are not entirely behind the Pinna (that thing protruding in front of the ear-canal), which means the true, 3-dimensional binaural experience isn’t there. In this setting, my head shadow acted more like a Schneider disc or such, which means these recordings should translate better to speakers than, say, a Neumann dummy head. Btw: the non-binaural recordings were done in October 2013, using just my Sony PCM M10 recorder.
All in all, a collection of useful ambiances for your next Berlin-esque project.

Introducing Mountain Air: Ambiances & Winds, the largest and most ambitious sound effects library from PMSFX to date. This collection features 87 high-quality recordings, totaling almost 5 hours of immersive soundscapes. Captured exclusively in the breathtaking Kuči Mountains, located on the border of Montenegro and Albania, these recordings were made at altitudes ranging from 1,400 to 1,700 meters, offering a pristine and untouched auditory experience.
Each soundscape is meticulously tagged with UCS-compliant metadata, ensuring you can locate the perfect sound in seconds.
To reach these remote locations, hours of rugged off-road trails were navigated, accessible only with a capable 4WD vehicle. These challenging terrains and isolated spots provided the ideal environment to capture the raw, unspoiled essence of mountain soundscapes.
The library includes a diverse array of recordings:
Still Air: Quiet, serene atmospheres.
Gentle Breezes to Gale-Force Winds: Dynamic wind recordings that range from subtle rustles to powerful gusts.
Natural Soundscapes: Crickets, birds, and other wildlife echoing across forests, mountain valleys, and meadows.
Mountain Villages: Very distant hints of human presence, including faint dog barks and cow moos from small mountain settlements (Serbian/Croatian: Katun)
This 20.37GB library was recorded between spring and fall, as the trails in Kuči Mountains become nearly inaccessible during winter, even with the best 4WD setups. The result is a one-of-a-kind collection that captures the essence of high-altitude wilderness.
Why Choose Mountain Air: Ambiances & Winds?
Massive Content: Almost 5 hours of audio and 20.37GB of authentic, high-quality sound effects.
Pristine Locations: Recorded in some of the most remote and untouched mountain ranges in Europe.
Wide Variety: Perfectly captures the diversity of mountain atmospheres—from tranquil stillness to powerful winds.
Optimized Workflow: UCS-compliant metadata ensures seamless integration into any project.
Field-Tested Quality: Expertly recorded and edited.

African Desert: Sahara is a collection of stereo and quad soundscapes recorded in the barren but beautiful mountain range at the heart of the Sahara desert. This is the largest hot desert on Earth, incredibly difficult to access and explore. It’s a breathtaking place with a huge dynamic range, from dead silence to powerful winds. The soundscapes in this collection were recorded around giant rock formations, rocky outcrops, canyons and sand dune expanses.

A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
