This library has the aim of bringing ultra high quality malleable materials for sound designers with extensive organic variations in the realm of horror/gore.
It can help the most gruesome and disgusting scene comes alive with vivid realism.
Each file has a great amount a variations of the same sound.
In the meantime, the extensive frequency range provided by the Sanken co-100k and the Sennheiser MKH-series microphones allows extreme pitch-shifting.
Let’s express creativity by layering these sounds and pitch-shiftings with almost no limits!
'Ice Skating' is a very comprehensive library of 1000 audio files from the realm of ice skating.
It encompasses a broad variety of sounds using different skating techniques and features many ice skating activities such as hockey games, figure skating, free skating and more.
Most of the recordings have been made in an outdoor setting to reduce reverberations.
Almost all of the sounds were recorded using a M/S technique with AKG C-414 and Rode Nt5, and Sound Devices mixPre.
This library presents unique focused sounds that have been edited meticulously making them easier to integrate in any audiovisual project or interactive program.
The rare distinctive quality of these recordings also allows them to be a base for
any sound experimentation through a creative process; and can be layered with other sounds or treated in order to produce interesting sound design.
A couple of Ambiences are also included in the library. These are ORTF stereo recordings of outdoors/indoors skating.
Like every other sound library from Articulated Sounds, the files are embedded with metadatas (Soundminer/iXML/XMP/BWAV/ID3).

Film, tv, and internet productions are exploring realms between conscious reality and the unknown – this library seeks to help you on those journeys.
Whether you’re looking for metallic, wooden, glassy, icy or even watery spaces – look no further. There are small, claustrophobic, metallic spaces; huge, thunderous spaces fit for a Greek god; icy castles only Superman could live in; strange delays that will have you bouncing around the room in a straight jacket; and crazy effects that will make you question your sanity.
The included track list gives short descriptions to help you find something to suite your needs. For example “Short Verb – Box Trap” is described as “Like you’re in a very reverberant, but small, bassy, wooden box.”
Impulse responses included:
• Short Reverbs

This library of environmental recordings is the culmination of three recording expeditions to the stunningly gorgeous Pacific Northwest. We visited a variety of locations ranging from urban Vancouver, Portland, and Seattle to the wild and untamed Olympic Peninsula. We captured dynamically disparate sounds such as a noisy Seattle shipyard and the quietest location in the continental US – deep within the primordial Hoh Rainforest. There are excellent crowd wallas, and contemplative mountain streams. From beaches to mountain tops to luxury high rises no environment was left un-recorded! This is what the Northwest sounds like!
In all, this library features 69 individual files totaling over three hours of runtime. Total un-zipped file size is over six gigabytes. All sounds have been edited to remove discernable dialog and unwanted noises. What’s left is pure, loop-able ambience suitable for no-fuss editing.
All sounds were captured on a Sound Devices 744T recorder. Microphones used include a Sanken CSS-5 stereo mic and a matched stereo pair of Sennheiser 8040s in ORTF configuration. All recordings are accompanied by a high quality photograph for reference and tagged with Pro Tools searchable metadata.
As a special incentive we will also include a bonus mini-library of ambiences from the Irish countryside that James recorded on a recent trip home! Highlights include some great mountain winds and a rare recording of a starling formation taking flight!

Sounds of Istanbul gets you more than 6 hours of oriental-flavored soundscapes and ambiences – gathered around Istanbul, Turkey. It features calls to prayers, bazaars, harbor sounds, Walla, crowds of people passing through the streets and alleys, car traffic, street musicians, both close and distant emergency siren sounds, as well as the quiet crowd at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art.
So if you’re after middle-eastern city ambiences, Sounds of Istanbul delivers:
Scratches library is a comprehensive library of 700 recordings of scrapes, cuts, scuffs, peelings and rubs. This high-quality collection of versatile sounds will make skin crawl and hairs stand on end.
The idea behind this project was to gather a wide assortment of objects like saws, scissors and chalks, and to record their acoustic interaction with surfaces such as wood, glass, metal, concrete and gravel. We even came to vandalize a few musical instruments (snare drums, oriental percussions, cymbals and more) with hammers and knives in order to capture weird noises and unique musical qualities.
Urban Crows is a library full of interesting sounds of single crows and swarms.
These proud birds deserve a lot more attention than they usually get. They are amazingly intelligent, social and by no means aggressive or monotonous when it comes to their communication capabilities.
The library evolved throughout winter 2015/16 and was taken from the attic of a house surrounded by trees were the crows frequently stayed overnight. So it was a great pleasure to record them arriving in the evenings as well as hearing them chatting during the dawn. They have a huge arsenal of clearly distinguishable single caws, funny sighs or nervous screams that often evolved to a huge cluster of noises that became stronger when the church bells began to ring and the sun came up.
All takes are recorded in Mid-Side stereo, with Sennheiser MKH-70 shotgun for a strong mid-signal and AKG-C394B for the ambience. The total playing time of the library is approx. 1h 30min.
An in-depth collection of subway recordings, captured in Kyiv, Ukraine. There are platform ambiences, train interior and exterior, escalators, underground tunnels with people.
Recorded in quadro on Nevaton MC 50 QUAD; in double-MS on Oktava MK-012 set; in stereo on AKG C414 pair. The double-MS recordings were encoded to quadro and the sources (Mid, Side, Rear) included as well.
DMS at the end of file name means Double-MS recording; Quadro means direct quadro recording; AKG means stereo recording.

This includes sounds of container dumps, noises from load chains and their locking mechanisms as well as sound from the truck itself (interior, door slaps, air pressure system, wheel noises, 7.5l 310hp diesel engine, exhaust and much more).
Chain Ferry features the remarkable sounds of a 100 year old ferry with a specific drive system. The ferry pulls along a strong chain lying at the ground of the river to cross. This is achieved by a clever combination of 3 drive wheels that guide the chain and prevent it from dropping to the ground.
The Library contains several complete audio takes of the ferry in action – from departure to arrival. This encompasses engine start, engine idle, loading ramp noises and bangs plus a lot of chain rattling from various perspectives. The sounds are recorded aboard and from both sides of the river so that the entire scenery can be covered acoustically.
Coffee Shop features the acoustical surroundings of a cosy bar in the Old Town of a central European city. The full version of the library encompasses a complete day at the bar and is suitable for all kinds of appropriate sceneries as well as source material for elevated sound design (coffee machine, grinder, pouring liquids etc.).
The material contains various activities of waitress and cleaning persons that arrive in the early morning to prepare the bar for opening. Furthermore several long takes of the typical coffee shop athmosphere of chatting and laughing guests at different times of the day are included.
All relevant waitress activities are recorded from at least two different spots so that the desired sound is available as close-up or with the characteristic ambience of a coffee shop. The library is rounded off with steady room tones of fridges and ventilation taken at night. For detailed description of included material please check the metadata sheets.
City Traffic brings the daily noise of Berlin to your library. It delivers 10 different locations – split into 55 single takes with metadata embedded.
The library contains recordings of main roads during the morning rush hour, when the trolley car rumbles over the rails and the trucks are roaring through the kettles. In between a bunch of honking mopeds and cars with broken exhaust pipes are fighting for their space. Commuter trains are crossing every minute, the omnibus arrives just in time and the long-distance trains pass the station with squeaking brakes. In the evening it is rainy and at least the suburb calms down a little bit.
ROOM TONES – Industrial Building delivers hugely atmospheric ambience recordings gathered in an ’80s Industrial Building in the east of Dresden, Germany.
The library sounds were captured with a 4 channel 60 cm IRT cross and 4 Sennheiser MKH8020 omnis mounted. The recordings took place on a stormy and rainy Sunday. Due to the blank surfaces inside the building, thin single-glass windows and large air shafts, the weather elements got massively amplified by walls and floors.
Additionally the rain water pipes are placed inside the building which caused a constant sound of flowing water. Also the sound of the central heating was clearly perceptible along the floors.
The library contains 19 scenes recorded in 4-channel IRT surround. Each scene consists of 2 complementing stereo tracks and is more than 3 minutes long.
The Ambiance Collection 1 aims to provide a complete solution for a wide variety of sound scenarios.
It features a range of ambience recordings such as cities, roads, parks, countrysides, shores, airports, shopping malls, underground parking lots, various room-tones and much more.
This package includes 71 Files – Total 3:23:00 hours of content, with an average track duration of 0:02:45 minuets.
The library is also available in 360 Ambisonic version here.
“Driving Forces” is an ultimately innovative sound effects construction kit from Digital Rain Lab. The pack is dedicated to futuristic engine sounds: from small hovering drones to huge space motherships. It thoughtfully includes various engine categories such as Jet Turbines, Micro motors, and Recordings. The addition of real textures makes the library well balanced and very flexibile for designing unique vehicle sounds.
Natively made in 96k/24bit, all sounds are ready to be heavily manipulated, and are tagged with BWF and Soundminer metadata for a faster workflow.
When looped, these abstract ambiences & drones seem to rise or fall endlessly.
All sound files are included in the Unreal Ambiences library.
“Infinite” specializes in dark drones, wide ambiances and thrilling textures that play with great depth and large stage.
Each of the 160 included samples was carefully handcrafted by treating various sources with a complex chain of hardware FX units. The resulting sounds can be used out of the box whenever it comes to the creation of impressive background layers or establishing otherworldly movie scenes.
The library contains two folders: North and South.
The sounds in the North folder still have trace elements of harmonic structures while the South folder provides textures without decent pitch.
All contained sounds have looppoints embedded so that they can play infinitely in the true sense of the word.
This is achieved best with the two additional Kontakt 4 instruments that have all sounds layered across the keyboard.
Nevertheless, the delivered WAV files can be loaded into any modern software sample with loop support.
Laundry Mangles is a library full of sounds from vintage machines that once where used in many public washhouses. In some locations they are in use even today.
Basically, the weight of a huge box filled with stones was used to press big pieces of linen, bed sheets or towels wound on rollers below. Early models were operated by hand which was very exhausting and soon the machines were equipped with electric motors and belt drives.
This library delivers sounds from 5 different models of various ages that are operated with a crank shaft or electrical belt drive. All machines have been extensively recorded so that any imaginable perspective and operational state is covered. This includes full runs with belt drive and crank shaft, protective grating handlings, idling motors and much more.

Get the wintry sounds of snow scrapes, slides, crunches, impacts, snowballs, debris, whooshes, and footsteps.
Most of this snow was recorded in 4-6 feet deep snow at about 10,000 feet elevation in the Eastern Sierras in varying temperatures.
Recorded with a Sound Devices 702 recorder + stereo pair of Sanken CS-1e microphones. The recordings are captured in 24 bit / 192 kHz and come with extensive metadata.
UI SOUNDS: Futuristic, the next step of our user interface (UI) SFX series, is a collection of 400 well organized selections ranging from subtle to glitchy and vivid elements which are ready to use in any futuristic user interface environment, smart TV app, wearable device app, UI demonstration or infographic video, as well as in your games.
All sounds are spread across these 9 categories: selections, buttons, open – close – pause interfaces, holograms, alarm loops, notifications, calculations, screen errors, browse menu and delivered to you in the 3 most commonly used file formats to save you the trouble of having to create them yourself; WAV, MP3, OGG
The Optical Drives sound effects library features recordings of computer optical disc drives (two internal desktop CD/DVD-R and one internal laptop slim CD/DVD-R slot-load).
Two induction coil pickups were used to record the electromagnetic fields emitted by the drives, capturing a very unique set of sounds and textures. These range from sharp percussive bleeps, glitchy static and noise, to electromechanical motor sounds, and drones. You'll find use for many applications, including UI interface design, transitions, sci-fi, robot/servo sounds, technology, and computer sound effects.
Recordings include all functions of the DVD drives, e.g. disc loading, reading, writing/burning, spin up/down, errors, and disc ejecting. Also, each drive was taken apart and manipulated to create additional sounds.
The Wheels & Gears SFX library features a collection of bicycle tire, freewheel, gear and chain recordings. Two bike models were recorded: A Specialized Carve Expert (mountain bike) and a Bianchi Campione (city/road bike).
A wide range of sounds were recorded, from conventional bike sounds (such as freewheel clicks, gear shifting and chain movements, acceleration with various speeds, coasting, and disc brake movements) to more experimental sounds, creating unique sound effects using various found objects on the tires and spokes (such as cardboard, wooden sticks, fabric, shoe soles, guitar picks, and paper).
Recordings were captured with a Sanken CSS-5 Shotgun mic. The shotgun microphone was mounted in a full Rycote windshield kit and connected to a Sound Devices 702 recording at 192khz. The contact mic recordings were captured with the Barcus Berry 4000 Planar Wave system.
The Floppy Drives sound effects library features recordings of seven computer disk drives: two 3.5″ floppy drives, one 5.25″ floppy drive, three Zip drives, and one SuperDisk drive.
All drives were taken apart to access and manipulate the stepper/eject motors to create unique sounds. These range from electronic percussive bleeps and glitchy noises, to electromechanical motor movements.
An Arduino UNO microcontroller board was connected to one of the 3.5″ floppy drives, allowing precise control of the drive's stepper motor via custom software code. A midi keyboard was interfaced to the system, giving the ability to control the back-and-forth movement of the read/write heads via notes on the keyboard. This essentially turned the drive into an instrument, producing a new set of sounds not existing in the drive's normal functions.
The Hybrid Electric Car SFX library features a collection of exterior and interior sounds from a 2007 Toyota Prius. A majority of the recording was conducted at El Mirage Lake, a six mile long dry lake bed in the Mojave Desert, 90 miles north of Los Angeles.
This barren landscape, unique for its miles of completely flat terrain, is a popular filming location for automobile commercials and feature films. The recording sessions took place late in the evening and early in the morning, when the surroundings were completely silent.
An ample collection of exterior pass bys, starts, and stop recordings on pavement, gravel, and dry lake bed are included. Speeds range from 5MPH to 80MPH from only running on the electric motor/battery pack, to pushing the Prius' gas engine towards its max. Other sounds such as washer/wipers, electric motor and gas engine idling complete the collection.
The Hard Drives sound effects library features recordings of four hard disk drives (3.5 inch – 5400 & 7200 RPM). All essential hard drive sounds are included (boot up, read/write/copy/delete, power down) that will work great for general computer sounds and ambience.
Each hard drive was opened up, manipulated, and ultimately destroyed to create a collection of raw, abstract and unique sounds. Found materials such as metal, cardboard, plastic, and tools were used to control the hard drive's motor, platter, and head actuator. These sounds work especially well for creating the sounds of mechanical robot movements, electric motors, and futuristic machinery.
Computer Noises is based on a wide palette of noises that computers emit when booting, reading from their CD-ROM drives, or accessing a hard disk.
The library contains several complete boot sequences of 10 different laptop and desktop computers ranging from an old ATARI PC-2, going over to Pentium I and III, Celerons and Core Duo machines.
Each booting sequence was recorded from different positions within the computer casings.
Additionally, all included components are available as separate takes so that each computer is entirely featured with its hard disks, power- and CPU fans plus all those other strange noises that occurred. As bonus, 25 extra sounds from external hard disks and blowers of all kind are included in this library.
Los Angeles is well-known for having some of the largest and most traveled freeways in the United States.
The L.A. Freeways sound effects library captures the traffic ambience on the massive freeways that run through the Greater L.A. area – 3 hours of recordings in total!
Multiple perspectives were recorded, from close vehicle pass bys to distant traffic ambience captured from city parks, surrounding hillsides, tunnels and underpasses. Traffic types range from fast pass bys, to slow and congested traffic.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
A Sound Effect is a great resource for keeping up on what's out there in the SFX library world. The site is well organized and it's easy to find stuff.
I love the behind the scenes articles - and the ability to purchase directly through the site is super convenient. The process is very straight forward and painless. I recommend it all the time.
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
