What happens when you get lucky while figuring out a Cassette Player that hasn’t run in years? You bring out an annoying motor whine that last long enough to capture and record it.
In the 3rd installment of the Personal Cassette Player Collection, Personal Cassette Player_Pack 03, includes recordings of the name-sake, the brand name, the leader of the pack, the Sony Walkman FM/AM Player. Included in this pack are sounds of buttons, fast forwards, rewinds, sliders, switches, opens, close, motors, and the surprising motor whine. Over 1875 sounds packed into 54 files and 48 minutes with loads of different motor sounds!
All recordings are metadata tagged and updated using the Universal Category System in Soundminer, Basehead, and Soundly. Recorded at 24 Bit, 192kHz using the Sennheiser MKH8050, MKH30 microphone combo into a Sound Devices Mix Pre-6.
Plug in those headphones, sit back, relax, and listen to your favorite classic cassette tapes.
• In Wind Harp, get an expansive collection of musical winds from the mountains of the American Southwest. Hear singing wires brought to life by 30 mph gusts and desert winds meshing perfectly with musical drones. Hear blustery blasts whipping through mountain valleys and scrappy desert foliage rustling frantically. Hear dancing grasses strike fretboard strings, pinging rich melodies with each swaying stalk.
• To record this library an acoustic guitar was transformed into an aeolian harp. I hope this library gives you a chance to hear the wind in a way you haven’t heard it before. Enjoy listening to the natural music of the wind as it sings on long thin wires
2% FOR THE ENVIRONMENT:
• Two percent of the price of this library is donated to an environmental cause, as an “artist royalty” for the planet!

In a remote research lab in the north-east of England, scientists have been secretly carrying out experiments on a number of human test subjects. There is no record of what these experiments entailed or who authorized them, but one thing we do know is that something went horrendously wrong and transformed these once-innocent, everyday people into something else entirely… Something inherently evil.
Herein lies an audio documentation of these wretched beasts as they run amok with only one thing on their minds… To feed and to destroy.
Big booms, slow creaks, simple open/closes and key movements. Everything you’ll need from doors located in stairwells or spaces featuring long reverb.
Recorded using a variety of microphones to capture the natural reverb as well as unique perspectives. This library is delivered to you at 24bit/96khz.

I took out a MZ TS150 2 stroke Motorcycle and recorded approaches, departures, pass bys, circling in a grass parking lot, engine revs, idoling, etc.
I recorded this library with 2x dpa 4060s, 2x ME2, an sm57, sennheiser 416 and a pair of cm3s recorded in an xy pattern. I set up the cm3s on a mic stand, and followed the action with the 416, with 5 onboard microphones capturing sounds on the bike as well.
In the 179 files, there are 8 syncable takes of pass by's at different rpms with the onboards and 2 different exterior perspectives. Everything has been labeled in Soundly with metadata.
You will find what you need to cover any small 2 stroke engine motorcycle in here. With purchase, I offer you to email me at [email protected] and I will send you the protools session that has the sync'd files and original audio if you would like even more coverage of individual microphones (if that is something you are into). Feel free to email me with any inquiries before purchase.

Cicadas is a collection of summer ambiences recorded in Southern Spain over the course of 2018 summer. You will get massive chorus in different densities and areas, individual chirps, and a designed section.
The temperatures during this time of the year are so high, ranging from 30ºC to 45ºC (86ºF to 113ºF), that cicadas are always present in daytime. The higher the temperatures, the more cicadas chirp. Having this in mind, some recordings from early June have less cicadas than the ones recorded in July and August. In addition to this, there are recordings both in the morning, where the cicadas are not so many but are already present, and in the evening, chirping all of them as a chorus after a whole day under the sun. The library contains:
All files come in 96 kHz / 24 bit and with embedded metadata, both in Soundminer and BWAV.
UCS compliant metadata. Fields included CatID, Category, Subcategory, FX Name, Filename, Description, BWDescription, Library, RecType, RecMedium, Microphone, Designer, Manufacturer, Keywords, VendorCategory.
Featuring more than 250 minutes of cicadas recordings plus 65 minutes from the Designed Section.
With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
