A collection of winds in various circumstances: interiors and exteriors, through gaps in windows and doors, battering windows, roaring in chimneys, whining through wires and rattling shutters and leaves.
Includes two very long-form recordings and twenty-two medium length wind sounds, for almost every situation where you need something a bit different from the same old material.
We heard there was a storm coming to the UK so of course we wanted to record it, instead of going to a wide open space we wanted to record it in a typical UK back garden, mainly as we wanted to record a storm reacting with its surroundings. This Storm was moderate in nature, we managed to record gusts of wind and rain as well as the storm rattling fences, blowing bushes/trees and moving items, as well as general residential/suburban sounds.
Back Garden Storm will give you enough audio to give your project the authentic sound of a good ole British Storm, boosting your project to the next level. Back Garden Storm has been edited to allow a drop in ready and Royalty Free sample pack. These Samples can be used in a variety of projects from Sound Designing/Compositions for TV, Film, Documentaries and Video Games. UCS Compliant and Metadata is attached to the samples
There was a massive storm going on outside and we could hear the wind from the chimney so we popped our field recording kit up and extended the microphones to as far as they would go up the chimney and pressed record. We managed to capture the low end and rumbles of the wind interacting with the chimney.
We then tried adding some reverb on to the samples to give space and context which wasn’t exactly part of the plan for this sample pack but we thought it added something so decided to add these samples to the sample pack for no extra cost.
Chimney Wind will give you enough audio to give your project the authentic sound of wind from a chimney stack, boosting your project to the next level. Chimney Wind has been edited to allow a drop in ready and Royalty Free sample pack. These Samples can be used in a variety of projects from Sound Designing/Compositions for TV, Film, Documentaries and Video Games. UCS Compliant and Metadata is attached to the samples
Recorded and designed by film sound legends Ann Kroeber and Alan Splet (well known for their work with David Lynch), the Cinematic Winds sound effects library delivers diverse recordings from eerie, hollow wind sounds to whipping, stormy moodscapes.
Cinematic Winds is an exclusive collection of sound effects selected from the venerable Kroeber-Splet private recording archive, Sound Mountain. “Of all the sounds from our library, the wind recordings are some of the most iconic and evocative,” says Ann Kroeber, having created an extensive sound catalog with her late partner Splet over decades of pioneering their craft.
Wind is one of the most difficult elements to record. This is why Pro Sound Effects is proud to offer this carefully curated library from two artful sound designers and recordists we have tremendous respect for. Take your next sound design project to the next level by dragging and dropping the work of Kroeber and Splet into your scene.
This special collection includes over 3 hours of 24-bit/48kHz WAV format wind effects and recordings perfect for inducing subtle, subconscious emotion, imposing a powerful presence, and creating earthy or surreal soundscapes in your production.

“Helinä” can be translated as “the tinkling sound made by the shaking of tiny bells”. These may be wind chimes, and some are quite large, but the meaning of the name still rings true. Beautiful, glorious, and entrancing wind chimes, all stirred up for your designing and listening pleasure.
We’ve meticulously recorded and only very lightly edited 15 different sets of wind chimes composed of varying materials, shapes, and sizes. The result is a stirring array of shimmering textures from the soft dull knock of bamboo to the brilliant crystalline sparkle of obsidian.
The chimes sets and performances include:
Chimes: Bamboo, Glass Shards, Porcelain Bell, Cast iron Bell, Glass Bell, Stoneware, Obsidian, Buoy, Paper/Mixed, Copper, Aluminum, Bronze, Agate, Shells, Capiz
Performances: Flowing (Short, Med, Long), Breeze (Light), Windy (Moderate), Stormy (Heavy), Quaking, Plops, Gusts, Strikes, Grabbing, Releasing
You’ll get incredible tonal depth, preciously sustained tails, and conveniently isolated strikes and “gusts” resulting in a natural representation of each chime. All of the chime-work was recorded in 192 kHz so you can bend, stretch, and twist with the comfort of the extended harmonic content of each chime. The majority of the stereo content is presented in Mid-Side format (noted in tracklist and metadata) such that the stereo width can be dialed in as desired and a clean mono track can be had without any added processing or summing. All of the performances resulted in 50 separate files for each of the 15 chimes, making layering and matching performances a breeze. In addition to the chime sets, we’ve included four stereo wind captures, in different capacities and locations, for adding context and ambiance to any wind chime-appropriate environment you may find yourself working on.
In the second installment of the High Desert Winds Series, get the blustery sounds of High Desert Winds 2 recorded in the resonant mountains of West Texas. This library was recorded during a massive two-day wind storm with gusts up 75 mph! These extreme winds rattled and shook the house in wonderful ways. The creaking and groaning windows, doors, and walls were vibrating so much that I could record wind for the first time using a contact microphone! There are also recordings of leaf vortexes, sand blasts, tarps popping, umbrella destruction, and much more. If you need the sounds of a stunning desert storm to complement the recordings in High Desert Winds 1, this is the library to check out.

Mountains of Europe features nature sounds and ambiences, captured in different mountain forests and areas of Central Europe at different times of day. All ambiences are very quiet and serene and recorded at high altitude.
Mostly the birds are at distance and you can also find some tracks with only wind blowing through the trees and rustling leaves. Sometimes a buzzard circles around in the sky or a raven flies by. You really get the sensation of being in a rough and remote mountain landscape, the ultimate ‘in the middle of nowhere’ feeling.
All nature recordings are clear and completely free from external noise and other human disruptions, which is why this library will be especially useful for productions taking place in medieval times and nature documentaries. The average length of each file is between 3-5 minutes, so enough time to use in longer scenes without looping.
All of these nature ambiences are recorded using three different microphone set-ups. A Stereo set-up. A wide stereo set-up. And a spaced omnis set-up, which also offers extended frequency response. This brings you 3 variations of each recording. Within these variations the differences are sometimes subtle and sometimes more extreme. These three perspectives can provide flexibility for crosscutting within scenes.
Get approximately 4 hours of unique, royalty-free and especially high quality recordings with this library. Recorded in 24 bit / 96 kHz. Accurately edited and mastered to sound as natural as possible. For more detailed descriptions about the ambiences in this collection see the metadata in our file lists or listen to the preview montage.

We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
