London Ambisonics is a collection of 55 immersive city ambience recordings from the streets, parks and subways of London, England. Use these versatile sounds to enliven your scenes with an authentic city atmosphere. Recorded in 24-bit/96kHz with a Sennheiser AMBEO VR mic, London Ambisonics was captured at various locations throughout London including St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Palace Theatre, the River Thames and more. Detailed metadata includes coordinates and cross streets for maximum geographic clarity.
To capture these stunning ambiences, recordist Matt Snedecor traversed London with the goal of capturing its essence. In his own words:
“London, although there’s a lot of English, just has a different feel and sound than a major US city. So I was partly looking for urban sounds, but also getting the feel of the city itself. It was definitely not as big and loud as NYC and there’s also things like different sirens and horns than we have here.”
This library includes SurroundZone2 software by TSL Products that allows you to control the Ambisonics files by pointing “virtual microphones” any direction with a wide range of polar patterns. Unparalleled flexibility lets users match backgrounds with the specific setting of any scene.
The Ambisonics recordings can be decoded to mono, stereo, 5.1, 7.1 and beyond. In addition to giving sound editors and mixers greater flexibility and control over the recordings, these recordings are also perfect for 3D Audio applications including VR and 360º video.

Immerse yourself in the second library of the Ambisonics series by USO. These “Runaway Trains” were recorded with a Senneheiser Ambeo and a Sonosax R4+ in and around the Milano Greco Pirelli railway station, which is part of the so-called “Milan Circle Line,” a railway loop which circumnavigates the city.
The library contains a lot of passing trains and ambient sounds recorded very close to the railway, both by day and by night. There has been no further processing, although I did carefully remove all the Italian P.A. announcements, to make life easier for the editors during the sound montage.
A useful bonus, too: you will find some ready-to-use backgrounds as “airfill” between the passing trains to create continuity in a longer scene, if need be. The ambient sounds are also great as a standalone!
To give a city a good energy, you’ll need to add some background activities. Building sites are one of the of sounds of a living city. You will find different kind of atmospheres in this collection – including large building sites with cranes and outdoor elevators, various emergency alarm, excavators, hammers and grinders. All you need to give your set the realism of a big city.

For many people, rain is high on their list favorite sounds to relax, study, or sleep to. For how soothing and common of a sound it is, it happens to be one of the most difficult to record – that is, if you want to still be able to use your gear afterwards.
In early spring of 2023, a little rain recording experiment on the fire escape leading to my somewhat sheltered backyard revealed that little to no city noise would actually make it onto the recording. Surprised by how clean these recordings came out, and by how wet of a summer we’ve been having this year, I proceeded to record in the backyard of my apartment almost every time it rained.
Over a period of 6 months, I recorded hundreds of gigabytes of rain and ultimately narrowed it down to the 3 hours contained in this library. If you are looking for rain recordings that are clean and work well for layering while still clearly anchoring your soundscape in suburban spaces, this is the library for you! Also included are two long thunderstorms that can be heard moving into the distance.
These recordings contain no distinct car sounds, people, or sirens, and have been minimally processed to make them flexible for use in films, games, and video productions.
As an added bonus, this library contains immersive, Ambisonic (AmbiX) recordings of rain captured from the inside of a tin shed. To convert these recordings to binaural or surround formats I recommend downloaded the free SoundField by RØDE plug-in.

The Ambisonic version can be great for creating different listening angles of an interior car scene that uses several video angles, using it as an ambient layer for interactive experiences or simply implementing it into a real-time gaming audio engine.
To create this product a Sennheiser Ambeo microphone paired with Zoom H8n was used.
Please note that the Ambisonic version also includes a stereophonic rendering of the files.

Ambisonics – Lisbon compiles 57 long and evolving sound files from Portugal’s sunny capital, known for its unique river/ocean-side location and diverse lifestyles.
Busy traffic intersections from the city’s famous avenues contrast with the quiet ambience of its picturesque neighborhoods. These areas are splashed with riverside waves and distant boat engines and also include chatty tourist hotspots like Carmo’s Street, Feira da Ladra’s flea market, or A Brasileira’s coffee shop. Lisbon’s main plazas also abound with centered recordings, resulting in complete cityscapes with both busy traffic flow and pedestrian action.

The city’s trademark trams are also prominently featured on all traffic soundscapes but also with an interior ride take for full VR immersion. Other city transportation vehicles, such as cable cars, trains, subways, and their respective stations, are also included. They were recorded on multiple floors and distances, some with interior takes as well. With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
