Forest Atmos

From: $129

FOREST ATMOS is an immersive sound library recorded in 7.0.2 cinematic format with our exclusive array: the Atmos Tree.

Experience the sounds of nature in this new immersive adventure with 8+ hours of recorded material distributed across 130 files.

Sound designers Mélia Roger and Grégoire Chauvot have explored the forests of France over the course of 3 years in order to record the diversity of their soundscapes : the dawn chorus during springtime, the trill of insects in the heat of the summer, the quietness of an autumn night or the subtle crackling of frozen trees in winter…

The library is perfectly suited for DOLBY Atmos mixes.  It also contains extensive metadata and is UCS compliant

HAL Forest Atmos | Trailer

A vast canopy of sounds – The forest archetype is an ambivalent one : it could be interpreted as this primeval place, teeming with life, a realm of fantasy and wonder, but also as a symbol for the unknown and the menace entailed by it. From the birdsong reverberating in the woods and its almost mystical nature to the slow motion of air on a silent mysterious night, the sounds of Forest Atmos were conceived to expand the canvas of sonic artists no matter the task ahead.

A well organized ecosystem – All files are embedded with extensive metadata and are UCS compliant. They are also separated according to the season in which they were recorded. Ambiences are classified into 3 basic types : active, quiet and air – ranging from recordings full of wildlife activity to air tones with zero wildlife. Bird species are carefully identified in each file’s metadata, and markers are used extensively in order to spot specific sonic events. The Open Tier function in Soundminer is also used to create a custom organisation and should be really helpful to users getting to know Forest Atmos for the first time.

The tree that hears the forest – This is the second sound library we have done with our special rig : the Atmos Tree – our unique spaced array, optimized to record 7.0.2 sounds and inspired by the Dolby Atmos format.

In addition to our beloved 7.0.2 format, we carefully crafted an ambisonics version (ambiX, 2nd order), which is available for the convenience of professionals in 3D audio. This version is derived from the original recording and it was fabricated using dedicated software.

It’s been quite a ride until now and we are proud to say that our tree has already been used to record sound effects and music for great films such as Emilia Perez and Harvest. It was even used to record the theme music of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris – something we certainly had never expected. This is only the beginning and and we’re really looking forward to all the great sounds yet to come.
