Environment recordings, ambiences and soundscapes – from all over the world, and beyond
Sri Lanka Soundscapes: The Collection Vol. 1-3 features all 3 volumes of the Sri Lanka Soundscapes series.
Sri Lanka Soundscapes Vol. 1 – Urban and Walla
This library features typical sounds from Busy Streets, Road Traffic, Stations, Schools, Tourist Areas, Residential Villages and General Wallasound captured around southern Sri Lanka. The library serves as a great palette of local and unique sounds within busy crowded environments to really ground and localise any projects.
A particular highlight for me in this library was capturing the army drill commands outside the Old Army Headquarters in Galle.
Sri Lanka Soundscapes Vol. 2 – Countryside
This library features typical sounds recorded in the rice paddy’s and farms and beaches of Southern Sri Lanka. It features, ambiences containing local animals and birds (did someone say Peacock), insects, remote villages, Ocean waves all in quiet secluded environments. The library serves as a great palette of local and unique sounds within quiet countryside environments to really ground and localise any projects. Contains a mix of ambience recordings and some shorter animal specific SFX.
A particular highlight for me on this collection was capturing the sound of a duck farting as it plodded away (see movement and fart file at 00:07)- cutting edge stuff.
Sri Lanka Soundscapes Vol. 3 – Vehicles
This library features a huge range of vehicles noises captured along the unique and chaotic sounding Sri Lankan roads. The collection includes pass by’s, engine sounds and interiors from Tuk Tuk’s, HGV’s, Buses, SUV’s, Tractors, Mopeds, Motorbikes, Diesel engine and Trains at a variety of perspectives and speeds.
The library serves as a great palette of local and unique sounds for any project that involves the chaotic Asian traffic and roads.
A personal highlight on this library is the ‘ Musical Unique Bus Horn Beep Melody’, it came out of nowhere and I’ve never heard one like it!

The Traffic Pass Bys Bundle is an extensive collection of vehicles passing on wet and dry British roads. These dynamic sounds are perfect for incorporating movement into your projects; twist them into sci-fi engines, designed whooshes, developing ambiences, unique transitions and realistic soundscapes.
To optimise the usability of these sounds, a range of vehicles passing at varying speeds and locations were recorded. Cars, vans, motorcycles, lorries, trucks, bicycles and ambulances were captured passing, stopping, idling and setting off.
The bundle comprises both single and continuous pass bys, giving you the ability to focus on one-off sounds, or build up convincing roadside backgrounds.
Each library is delivered at 24Bit. Traffic Pass Bys Vol. 2 is delivered at 96kHz, while Vols. 1 and 3 are delivered at 192kHz. The entire bundle is tagged with extensive Metadata for ease of use.

Ocean Waves Beach and Water consists of a large dynamic range of a variety of ocean locations, and water sounds. From roaring white water surf, violent crashing waves on sand and rock, to calm lapping, of far and near perspectives.
I’ve included different types of outdoor fountains, large and small, single seagulls and groups of seagulls. A good portion of the Beach Ambiences have good, useable beach type walla. Family get togethers, children playing, and casual volleyball playing. All these tracks have good movement within them so that the listener doesn’t get bored with static sounds. There are plenty of tracks with and without any sort of voices or walla in the background.
There are “Dins” included for those settings where you may need to fill in the background with sound that doesn’t get in the way, and doesn’t draw attention to itself.
These sounds were recorded over the period of 10 years in multiple countries. All have been mastered in Pro Tools, EQ’d, with light limiting and compression to pop out the finer details, otherwise hidden by masking frequencies, but are otherwise in their raw form.
All tracks have full metadata created in Soundminer, and there is an attached Track List for quick reference.
Markets, restaurants, metro stations, trams, sirens, airports and more

Introducing the “Real Everyday Driving” sound effects library designed for those authentic moments behind the wheel! Say goodbye to high-octane thrill rides and embrace the casual charm of everyday driving. This collection captures run of the mill cars as they navigate the urban landscape at a leisurely pace.
From smooth starts and gentle accelerations to serene cruising, smooth coasting, and natural idling. Whether it’s the subtle sound of the brakes engaging, the comforting hum of a car easing into a turn, or a vehicle obeying city speed limits, our library immerses you in the details of everyday driving.
Each vehicle has been recorded with the following perspectives – interior, engine, exhaust and tyre. Both manual and automatic transmissions.
EMPTY CITIES DURING LOCKDOWN (restrictions due to Covid-19)
The lockdown was such a restrictive and devastating measure for all the societies we live in. At the same time though, it created a unique opportunity in history from a soundscape point of view.
This sound library frames that moment.
I believe it could have, in first place, an historical and anthropological value.
Attentive listeners will be able to appreciate how a reduced human presence did actually set free sounds that were barely audible, changing the perception of them. If earlier our ears used to meet constant sound streams, compact drones due to omnipresent traffic, now they can perceive a microcosm of sounds, small details, sound objects that bounce in the empty cities, finally free. Voices and murmuring of the few people around are all muffled by the use of face masks.
Sound designers will be able to make full use of this microcosm to paint their backgrounds with lively environments, full of small sounds, buzzes, scattered voices, thuds, bells, and so on, all reverberated in empty open spaces.
With human beings locked up, sounds got unlocked!

Delivered in 24-bit/96kHz FuMa Ambisonics format as well as stereo, this library contains amphibians, sea animals, insects and other wildlife interacting within distinct biomes. Use these sounds to enliven your nature scenes with a rich, authentic ecological backdrop.
To capture these sounds, recordist Jason Strawley and videographer Andrew Garraway traveled to four states from Florida to California with the goal of capturing a variety of ecosystems including swamps, ponds, and forests. The result is a dense collection of vibrant wildlife recordings brimming with life. According to Strawley, one of the most difficult aspects of the process was finding locations unaffected by human intervention, be it noise pollution or the overarching effects of climate change. In his own words:
“Human-made noise pollution foiled many a recording, forcing us to travel to more and more remote locations. We should all be advocating to preserve more wild lands, but it’s not just about the land – we need to preserve the soundscape and darkscape as well. Some national parks are doing a great job with this and I hope we can contribute to awareness in some tiny way.”
Each sound file is embedded with rich, descriptive metadata to help you find the exact ecosystem and animal recording you need. Biophony is also included in Pro Sound Effects’ CORE: Pro.

COYOTES 1 – DESCRIPTION:
• In High Desert Ambiences 4: Coyotes, I revisit the place where my field recording journey started: West Texas. On my drive out, a massive wildfire was burning large parts of the Davis Mountains. The day I arrived firefighters were finally able to contain the blaze, but sadly not before 22,000 acres burned. Much of the wildlife is too slow to escape, but luckily one pack of coyotes was fast enough to climb over a ridge. Normally I hear coyotes out in the plains where they love hunting jackrabbits. That night, however, I was recording from the edge of the dead fire. I was stunned to hear howling deep in the valley! The pack had run into the mountains to escape the blaze.
• In this library, hear the angst-ridden vocals of coyotes running to escape a wildfire. Hear the howls and yips of an extremely close pack bouncing from high valley walls. Hear an echo chamber filled with the haunting howls of coyotes who has just had their home burned.
2% FOR THE ENVIRONMENT & CARBON NEUTRAL:
• Two percent of the price of this library is donated to an environmental cause, as an “artist royalty” for the planet!
• Carbon offset credits were purchased to offset my field recording travel for this library.
What do you get when you combine a nature preserve, a small lake with a stream, and a nearby airport? You get beautiful scenery and a confusing soundscape. Walk along the path in the Barbara Key Nature Preserve in Illinois. But careful not to step on any plants of flowers.
Park N Planes includes recordings of a small fishing lake inhabited by families and birds. Attached to the lake is a small stream, additionally recorded with a stereo pair of Aquarian H2a hydrophone microphones for low rumbles and high popping sounds. Listen as the birds chirp, bugs buzz and fly past the microphones, not to mention planes and helicopters flying overhead. Along with planes and helicopters, you will also hear distant vehicles.
Park N Planes has over three and a half hours of recordings packed into 27 files, over 1500+ sounds, and 15.17GB. All files are recorded using the Sennheiser MKH8050 and MKH30 into a Sound Devices Mix Pre-6. All Metadata tagged and updated using the Universal Category System in Soundminer, Basehead, and Soundly.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
