Industrial sound effects and recordings – from factories, construction sites, docks and much more
The First Industrial Revolution, which arised in the second half of the 18th century, meant a series of industrial and socioeconomical transformations and a turning point on sound: the end of silence.
Asturian sound editor and designer Oscar de Avila is the main recordist of this Library. He begins his career in the mid 90s as a music composer and sound editor for audiovisual media, carrying out numerous projects for several institutions and film production companies in the Principality of Asturias.
This large compilation of registers formed by forced sounds, dark and electrical textures and industrial-themed backgrounds have been registered in 2019 at the most important and strategic areas (they had difficult access and permits were hard to get) around some industrial locations in the Principality of Asturias,Spain, which is my home place, as I was working for a documentary website on Asturian industrial historic heritage as the only responsible for sound design and editing (patrimoniuindustrial.com).
All our libraries are UCS compliant (universalcategorysystem.com). In this new category system all files contain extensive metadata like file description, Category & Subcategory. Metadata can be read and processed by the most common audio libraries management tools . Starting with Full support from Soundminer and more audio tools adopting this system, we are adopting metadata UCS system in our files!

Pipe Noise & Flow is a sound effects library built around the hidden voices of pipe systems, large and small. Captured over several years across industrial plants, residential buildings, factories, sewers, underground tunnels, caves and public infrastructure, this collection brings together a wide range of sonically rich material.
You’ll hear water, gas, and air moving through pipes made of metal steel, copper, aluminium, plastic, glass, concrete, and stone. There are massive flows and subtle trickles, bursts of pressure, hollow resonances, eerie whistles, and the strange tonalities that emerge when systems crack, leak, or fail. Many recordings feature broken or deteriorating pipes, full of texture and unpredictability. While there is plenty of industrial and subterranean grit, you’ll also find more subtle sources like kitchen sinks, bathroom plumbing, and everyday interior systems; sounds that can lend realism or eeriness to intimate scenes.
This library is designed to be flexible and inspiring. Use it to create detailed ambiences for sci-fi, horror, and post-apocalyptic settings, to build layered mechanical textures for machines and user interfaces, or to design unique elements for hybrid weapons, alien devices, strange creatures or abandoned environments. Whether you need the realism of urban infrastructure or the surreal qualities of a forgotten machine, Pipe Noise & Flow offers an unexpected toolkit full of possibility.

17.2 GB or 5h 24min of high quality recordings recorded over years in all seasons and in all weather/sea conditions.
Recorded with professional audio equipment, Sound Devices Recorder/mixer, and Sennheiser mics mostly. Majority of the recordings are recorded in MS stereo (excellent mono compatibility for film, radio program etc.), but in other stereo techniques like XY, AB, NOS as well for more precise focus on detail or wider stereo image (regarding the object of rec.). Metadata tagged with a detailed description of mic positioning, mic tech. and equipment used.
Max peak level is around -5dBFS. No compressors or dynamic tools were used in editing nor limiters during recording (natural dynamic of the recordings maintained).

The GENERAL AMBIENCE SERIES: A modular approach to the ambitious project become one of the largest and most versatile ambience sound effects libraries on the marked. High quality, detail, versatility and diversity will set this library apart from other products. You can expect monthly releases of small ambience packs in the future to keep the quality standards high and constantly grow the library over time.
This Urban City Ambience Sound Effects Library is part of the General Ambience Series by Systematic Sound. Urban City 02 extends the series with the first ambience library in 5.0 Surround. This time, I’ve used a Sennheiser MKH 8040-30 DMS system which has differences in tone and features a much more precise and stable image compared to the ORTF array used in Urban City vol. 01.
In this release you will find 82 brand-new high quality recordings that will complement the ones you own from vol. 01 to give you even more flexibility in post.
What constitutes the sound of a modern urban city? Obviously all kinds of traffic related ambiances are included as well as more quiet ones that feature all the nuances of urban air-tones, tonal hums and deep city rumbles. I’ve recorded in residential areas and city parks to capture peoples typical urban city life activities and well as the fast and busy life downtown in the center. The recordings have been made at different times of day and in different weather conditions (rain, wind, etc.). To capture the acoustic properties of the urban environments, I placed the rig in the middle of huge empty squares, in narrow streets, recorded the typical slap back echoes you typically get between high buildings. To even get more variety, I placed the rig in small and larges alleys (with trees and without) as well as in tiny corners, under canopies and even in underground passages.
Industrial hall FX sound library is a must have essential tool to create that characteristic big room industrial environment feeling in your project. Including sounds of: overhead crane in operation, CNC lathe machine, automated band saw, metal hits and many other. Sounds are captured with natural echo, that rich, lush hall sound. Here you can find near field and far field recordings with various panning settings of a sound signal as well. Check the sound list for detail info. Room tone recording is also included.
Hall size: 150 (L) x 28 (W) x 18 (H) meter/ 492 x 91 x 59 Feet
Metadata tagged with detailed description of mic positioning and equipment used.
Mix of ambience recordings, both wide and close-ups of wind turbines in a wind farm.
With every purchase there are some free extra files, linked to some ambience ones, recorded with shotgun microphones, to get an even closer close-up, ideal also for SFXs and sound design.
MOTOR FAN household edition features Internal & External mechanical sound such as motors and compressors found in the Kitchen, ACs & outdoor units, heaters and compressors, and more.
Recorded @ 24bit 96kHz / CONTACT MIC, ORTF, XY and carefully edited.
This library includes both factory ambiences and close up industrial machines.
The perfect collection for ambience beds for big noisy halls or a great tool for single machinery movements.
Several locations were recorded, amongst it a a food manufacturer, a vinyl pressing plant, a cogeneration unit, a water pumpstation, a water treatment plant, steelworks and a machinery builder. Aditional sounds have been recorded around other industrial sites.
For most machines, I used a multi-mic setup with a stereo (ab or ortf) unit, and several spot mics (incl. contact mics), which you can use as a construction library to mix to your own taste. For some machines, premixed files are included in a addition to the single layers.
From the rattle of an assembly lines, to whistle of all kind of engines , deafening scream of giant units, distant chatter and walla of workers, hydraulic and pneumatic hisses and movements, stamping of metal parts as well as welding, brushing, giant metal saws, polishing, wet round grinding, milling, pounding compressors, noisy heating units, bubbling testing stations and many more machinery sounds all in big reverberant spaces as well as from dry close up (as far as inside) carefully chosen spots of machineries singled out, this library offers a broad range of sounds.
The machines have been recorded in long continous ambiences as well as starting and stopping sounds, where possible.
Sound from tools, like ground lift, gates or beeps are also included.
Equitment used was: Sound Devices 744, Zoom F6, Schoeps MK41, Earthworks QTC50, Schertler Conatct Mic, Lewitt 540s, DPA 4060 / 61, Neumann KMR81i, Behringer Drum Mics

CATASHHH – Tonal ambiences from industrial labs
notes
Some time ago I was asked to record some interviews in a company where they perform tests, analyses and experiments on different products for the wood and furniture industry.
Being there I was captivated by all the sounds I heard in every single space I entered. Every time it was like discovering a new world.
Thus, I decided to record them.
Please, enjoy the sounds and feel free to get in touch with me for any feedback at [email protected]

Modern bread making environments sound industrial, both at a wholesale production facility that feeds the whole town, and at a small boutique bakery run by enthusiasts. Think large electrical appliances with fans and beeping control panels in reverberating rooms with tiled walls. Conversations (in Polish) usually stay in background.
Out of this emerges the edible matter itself – poured flour, dough splatting in mixer, and dozens loaves of fresh bread falling on decks, shelves, crates.
The library constists of ambiences, human movements, and close-ups on specific machines, including spiral mixers, dividers, sheeters, conveyors, provers, ovens. Six recordings are matched with pictures taken at the scene.
Recorded in 2020 with Audio Technica BP4025 stereo microphone (XY) and Sound Devices MixPre-6 II.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
