Industrial sound effects and recordings – from factories, construction sites, docks and much more
Recorded at an active power station, a physics laboratory, a three-story steam pump and various industrial complexes, these giant pipes produce unusual sounds as gasses and liquids are pushed through them at extremely high pressures. From classic metallic pads and strange harmonic textures, to squeaking, rattling, clanking, breathing and the juddering of machinery vibrating through them.
Recorded at 96kHz/24bit with 2 contact mics going into a Sound Devices 788T, they provide a unique palette useful for both real, and other-worldly applications. From industrial vents and factories to sci-fi alien cargo ships.
There is also a section of details/sweeteners to add spice and punctuation. All files are meta-tagged.
Listen closely for the deepest quiet. Imagine where and where else this could be. Augment the presence of your projects with Room Tones and Interior Ambiences. Find the true sound of it with Vadi Sound Library.

All captured in real garages and auto repair shops.
In addition to the sounds mentioned above, we have included a variety of clean, studio recordings of hand tools and metal parts that can be used as starting points for further sound design. We had cars and bikes brought in, which we used to record a series of engine startups/shutdowns, idling, and revs which might serve as starters for creating multilayered, compelling atmospheres.
The Metal Scrap library was recorded at a scrapyard where they do nothing but shredding, cutting, breaking and moving metal of all sorts, all day long.

This audio library features low-frequency drones, powerful impacts, metallic scrapes, resonant vibrations, and other rare audio textures.
All sounds were recorded using the LOM Geofón, a device that captures low-frequency surface vibrations that conventional microphones cannot detect.
The recordings were made with the TASCAM Portacapture X8 at 192 kHz/32 bit, ensuring maximum detail and sound quality.
The “Seismic Activities” sound archive contains over 2500 different noises from vibrations, shocks and their resonances. We have taken the trouble to use a set-up of different natural sounds, such as frequency drops, thunder or the sound of deep rumbling, to control two structure-borne sound transducers.
The “Seismic Activities” sound archive contains over 2500 different noises from vibrations, shocks, and their resonances.
We have taken the trouble to use a set-up of different natural sounds, such as frequency drops, thunder, or the sound of deep rumbling, to control two structure-borne sound transducers. We have installed these converters in various locations. For example, we were at a company that produces large roller doors. There we shook all sorts of pipes, high racks, tool cabinets, gates, and the like.
In addition, we worked with many household items to create a variety of sound structures, which should make the use of “seismic activities” particularly diverse.
Almost all of the sounds were generated from a multi-channel set-up made up of Sennheiser MKH80 (ORTF), DPA 4060 (AB) and a Sony DR100. So you can expect the best sound quality. As always, a Sounddevices 744T and a Mixpre were used as recording devices.
As always, all files come with burned in metadata in open standards like iXml, BWAV, ID3 Chunk.
Want the sounds of a garage / auto repair workshop? The Auto Workshop SFX library features lots of different tool sounds and general ambiences from automotive workshops (originally recorded for scenes in the Bulgarian feature Godless).
The idea was to capture the sounds at both closeup and off-mic, to be able to fade easily between them. A mono microphone was placed close to the source, and a set of stereo microphones was set up further away, capturing more of the room and echo. The result is very usable, and the ability to fade between closeup and wide shot works very well.
Get the hums of a big electric station, a small buzz of an electrical substation’s transformer and also synthesized sounds. All synthesized sounds were re-recorded with the “Worldizing” technique initially conceived by legendary sound designer Walter Murch.
This library was recorded at the commercial port of Copenhagen. The area is filled with giant cranes, trucks, and containers, and is normally closed to the public.

This is a selection of more than 30 different elevators, displaying a broad variety in sound. The whole library was recorded in 192 kHz (with Earthworks QTC50) as elevators often have high pitched metal sounds, squeaks and electrical hum up there, which makes great material for extreme pitch shifting. In addition to the omnis, which get you a very accurate impression of the space, a harsher, more direct pair of microphones were used in m/s on a lot of recordings. You could even build a surround version from these mics together.
The library focuses on the most important sounds for games and movies, elevators going up & down as well as doors sliding open and closing. Besides, I recorded atmos, buttons and footsteps wherever possible. I also added some studio foley takes to add a selection of rattles, squeaks, metal impacts, doors etc. to create the exact elevator sound that suits your needs.
The elevators range from a 1929 wooden paternoster, metallic freight elevators/goods lifts to a 90s futuristic Kone disc drive and 2015s all-glass cabins. Carrying a maximum of 2 people to 33 people. Recorded in universities, offices, hotels, warehouses, industry, town halls, private households, malls and many more.
The meta-data allows you to sort by year, kg, people, brand, action and of course character.
You like to hear it rattle, squeak, groan, grind, slide, clatter and hiss (yeah, lots of fan noise)? This is one for you.
Learning Space is the go-to collection for clean and constant school environment room tones and ambiences.
Learning Space has over 1 hour / 2.2 GB worth of material that covers a whole large air-conditioned modern school building and also a small air-conditionless old abandoned school building. The length of the room tones are around 3 minutes and all the room tones are calibrated to -30 LUFS.
The whole library was recorded with a custom designed very low self-noise (4.5 dB) ORTF rig that gives you only the noise of the room and minimal noise from the recording equipment itself.
The variety in the sounds of the room tones gives you a great palette to experiment with various sound design tools so you can create e.g. spaceship ambiences, drones and otherworldly textures.
You get the sounds in two formats: 96 kHz, 24 bit and in 44.1 KHz, 16 bit, for more convenient ways of utilizing the sounds in games and other media.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
