  • From the gentle chirps of a bird falling asleep to the powerful calls for food, this library offers a rich variety of magpie vocalizations. Additionally, it includes foleys recordings of magpies walking on wood and concrete, as well as the fluttering of their wings and a lot of preening.
Magpie Studio is a sound library capturing the vocal journey of young magpies, from their first cries to their early adult calls. This collection tells the story of four chicks that fell from their nest after being abandoned by their parents.
Most of the sounds were recorded in a studio environment in mono, with each chick recorded individually, along with a few stereo recordings featuring all four together. Only one long recording was made outdoors, capturing the moment they were released back into the wild.
The chirping of the young magpies has not been edited individually, as their early vocalizations are not yet distinct enough to be identified as separate “words” or “sentences”. Instead, longer recordings are provided to capture the broadest range of their developing vocal expressions and so categorized by mood. However, the adult magpie’s calls have been carefully edited and categorized by complexity—ranging from simple one- or two-syllable calls to more intricate vocalizations—allowing you to create your own bird conversations.
All sounds were recorded in 96 kHz / 24-bit quality.

    • Mono recordings were captured using a Neumann KM 150.
    • Stereo recordings were made with a Neumann AB pair.
    • All recordings were done using a Nagra recorder.

P.S.: All the birds regained their strength and were successfully released back into their natural habitat.

  • Experience the vibrant soundscape of the Brazilian Pantanal, one of the world’s largest tropical wetlands.

  • Bird Sound Effects Suburban Wilderness IV – Autumn Play Track 34 sounds included, 341 mins total $36.75

Garden and nature in Autumn. Sparse bird songs, busy gardeners, dogs barking with pleasant echoes, roosters calling, jets and propeller planes passing by, as well as moments of dead silence, hunters’ gunshots, and eerie rustling in the depths of the night; the awakening of nature and residents during the early morning hours, and much more.

‘Suburban Wilderness IV’ is the fourth library in my series of long-term recordings in a German allotment environment. This area is a remote place surrounded by forest, featuring cottages, ponds, and abundant natural sounds. The library combines suburban, residential, and forest ambiences into a cohesive soundscape.

‘Suburban Wilderness IV’ contains 34 unique ambiences recorded in Germany during Autumn, specifically on October 31, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 1 p.m. the following day. From these 23 hours of recordings, I selected and edited the best moments, compiling them into a 6 GB sonic journey through time — from afternoon to evening, through the night, and into the morning and midday hours of a residential forest area.

To capture the dead silence of the night, I used an extremely low-noise matched pair of Rode NT1-A microphones along with the Tascam HD-P1 recorder.

The total duration of the library is approximately 3.5 hours. Most of the ambiences range from 5 to 10 minutes in length, though some are longer, and a few are shorter.

‘Suburban Wilderness IV’ was recorded in AB stereophony at 48 kHz, 24-bit resolution.

  • Animal Sound Effects Forests and Mountains Play Track 96+ sounds included, 220 mins total $110

Forest and Mountains features nature and wildlife sounds from California, Washington, and Oregon.  Included are a number of bird recordings and forest ambiences, along with some insects, winds, rivers, and rain.

These were recorded over the past three years in various forests, foothills, and mountain environments.   A lot of these took place in or near Southern California’s Angeles Forest and San Gabriel Mountains, an area that spans 1200 Square Miles and varies vastly in terrain.

Also included are some sounds from Northern California, along with recordings from the Pacific Northwest.

The recording techniques for this varied as sometimes I went with the recorders running unattended to capture night, dawn and early morning.  Other times I’d record while being close by.

Working as a Sound Effects Editor I’ve curated this collection with Editors in mind.  Background Ambiences and Spotted FX can really bring a location to life and give it so much story and character and that was a lot of the inspiration behind putting this all together.
