Dive into the authentic urban atmospheres of French cities with our dedicated sound bank. Recorded in various locations such as Nantes, Strasbourg, Paris, Montpellier, Orléans, and more, our recordings offer a total immersion into the daily life of French city-dwellers.
Our collection is divided into two parts: a binaural section for an immersive spatial listening experience, and a stereo section for use in audio or audiovisual post-production.
You’ll find a wide variety of typically French urban environments, including restaurants, terraces, markets, parks, as well as street atmospheres, tourist areas, and traffic.
Each sound is captured with great precision to faithfully reflect the atmosphere and essence of the recorded locations. This sound bank is designed to meet the needs of sound professionals, offering a valuable resource to enhance their creative projects with realistic and evocative urban atmospheres.

These sound files were recorded at 24 bit, 192kHz using the Sennheiser MKH8050/30 and Sanken CO-100K/ Sennheiser MKH30 microphones into a Sound Devices Mix Pre-6.
All are metadata tagged using the Universal Category System in Soundminer, and also searchable in Soundly and Basehead.
Swimming Pool Ambience provides five distinct soundscapes spread through long, evolving and captivating sound recordings from Portugal’s primary water polo masculine and feminine leagues, a regional swimming competition, neutral takes at a public pool and locker room ambiences.
Water polo is a team based sport played in a swimming pool, where each player uses intense swimming strokes and tactics to score and defend their goal. This requires constant communication between team mates and coaches, prominently featured in this library, giving a distinct flavor to this sport with its booming echoes, splashes, shouting and plentiful goal celebrations. In addition to all this, you have varied crowd reactions, pre-match drills, team presentations and quieter moments.
The regional swimming competition audio files have abundant support chants from a young audience with minimal crowd dialogue, perfect to be used on any audiovisual project set in a swimming pool. The neutral takes of people swimming at a different public pool with no crowd conversations complement this section, providing different options for smart sound editing.
With a little over four hours of content, this library is your deep dive into the world of aquatic sports.
Introducing our sound library of a SF19 4.5″ TB OSP, a cal. 9x19mm semi-automatic pistol manufactured by HS Produkt. This modernized and improved version of the popular XDM handgun features a polymer frame, 19 rounds magazine, forged slide and hammer forged barrel.
Using a large array of various microphone configurations, we recorded shots from several distances both with and without silencer. We then moved to our studio to capture an extensive range of foley, including mag in and out, chamber cycles, selector switches, suppressor, trigger actions and more.
This library also comes with carefully designed assets in stereo and 5.1, created from our raw files. It includes powerful shots with and without suppressor, 3 meticulously crafted types of tails (Wide, Urban and Interior) and punchy foleys.
Multiple mic perspectives
The raw shots feature a total of 16 recording positions, from shooter perspective up to 80 meters, with a total of 25 channels. Among these you will find high SPL microphones attached to the weapons for mech sounds, CO-100k for ultrasonic content, large-diaphragm microphone close to the ground for punchy low ends, ambisonic perspective and much more! We also recorded the foley with multiple microphones, including a CO-100k for drastic pitch changes.
Designed and Game Ready assets
The library also includes “game ready assets”, which are edited versions of our designed sounds, with individual variations allowing easy implementation into your game engine or audio middleware.

The cozy natural rhythms of hums, scrapes, splashes and thuds soundtrack the pottery workshop where the earth meets art. Find the true sound of it with Vadi Sound Library.
About Pottery Workshop
84 sounds that are clean, subtle and capture pretty much every object and action of the magic of fire and earth.
From the rhythmic hum of the spinning potter’s wheel, to the splash of water, the scrape of clay with the tools shaping and smoothing surfaces, listen up for the symphony of creation.
You will hear the tapping and thud of ceramic pottery, wooden ribs, wire cutters, loop tools, and sponges, all kinds of rummage, and mud actions on the potter’s wheel. The clicking and whirring of mechanisms during firing cycles add a mechanical counterpoint to the workshop’s natural rhythms.
You will get variations of sounds in different proximity, size, and style of action. This collection is handy due to the clarity and diversity of the raw sounds. They have both Foley and practical usability and room for further sound design.
You will get intuitive, detailed naming, UCS compatibility and the usual Vadi Sound craft and attention to detail in 84 pristine sounds. Recorded in 24bit-96kHz.WAV format on our favorite Sennheiser MKH 8040 stereo pair and Zoom F6.

This library contains recordings of eleven different types of doors specifically chosen for their interesting sound. With abounding character and a penchant for speaking their mind, these little folk always have a lot to say. Wonder and amazement naturally follows.
Having the honor to be able to observe these tikes in their natural habitats, it became clear how babies share a great deal across their mannerisms as the grow. A longitudinal family of vocalizations and sounds that span the first year of life and maturity, the heart of this library, centers on those personalities and mannerisms changing and taking shape over that period of time. The little ones have been recorded at infancy, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year old. Each of these developmental milestones mark a significant step forward for all babies and at these stages their personalities and expressiveness grow remarkably. It is the constantly evolving language of exploration and examination; always learning. Each vocalization in this library, even within the same stage of development, is unique. From giggles to shouts, questioning to cries, babbles, cooing, and inventive phrases all the way around.
Additionally, strollers, toys, diaper bags, bottles, pumps, swings, and more have been captured as compliments to represent all of those ubiquitous items in a baby’s world. The strollers were profiled on different surfaces and from different mechanical perspectives. The toys were recorded both in-play and as Foley. Bottles and diapers were used in their normal function and fashion, while other tools and devices of the dedicated and savvy parent were selected for their sound and utility.
Joyfulness is easy to hear in this library.
On a recording trip to the smaller Danish port town Struer, I came across an abandoned empty oil tank. Inside I found two giant wires attached to the floor and the ceiling of the tank, almost like a huge 2 stringed double bass. I’m telling you the reverb in there was longer than the Eiffel Tower on a cloudless day !
On the outside this was just an empty abandoned building, but it turned out it was not empty at all because it was full of sound and a few dead birds. I’m glad I was curious enough to go inside for a closer investigation and not just pass by.
After several hours of concentrated recording, it was nice to get my ears back out in dry air. I’m happy there are no open sends to Valhalla in real life but experiencing the eternal resonance on the low frequencies from the wires was absolutely amazing.
Abandoned Oil Tank was recorded with a LOM basic Ucho stereo pair, a Zoom H6 and the LOM Geofon. All files are in 96 kHz/24 bit and contain the original recordings.
The result is a unique sound effect library including balloon pop impulse responses from a truly unique location that very recently became even more unique since word says that the oil tank is no more and has abandoned this world.
327 individual sounds – all tagged with Universal Category System (UCS) metadata.
Rounding out our set of libraries that gather beautiful offcuts from many a field recording expedition, our 5th and final installment of our variety SFX series, Vaeyan V is bigger, wilder, and more diverse than its predecessors. Recorded over a several year period, you’ll find everything from superposition array on common appliances to wacky experiments with unlikely materials. Fantastic captures of human sleeping habits (and some dogs as well), alongside of lively automated car washes and mics snuck into melodic bundles of twisted metal. And of course, a few peculiar off-beat ambience recordings as well.
As with Vaeyan I, II, III, and IV, this is a huddling of field recordings and sound designs that do not quite form a library on their own. However, together they make up an audio FX treasure chest gleaming with precious audio loot. Dig in!
There are few, if any, other mechanical devices that have existed more ubiquitously alongside modern humans than time pieces. They are intricate, precise, and complex, made in as many styles and designs as the mind can imagine, all of which sound incredible, making them a sound designer’s dream.
We profiled 12 clocks using a superposition technique, identifying and pinpointing specific parts and perspectives of each piece. Additionally, we’ve added an extra bonus clock that was not fully profiled, but just sounded too good to leave out. Each clock has a stereo (MidSide) capture and a series of mono channel spot recordings. Layer ’em, mix ’em, and match ’em up in whichever way you see fit.
Clocks include:
Focused mechanics and components include:
Ticking at the escapement, winding of various arbors, balance wheels and hairsprings, chimes, bells, gong wires, and hammers, fan flies, weights, action keys, locks, doors, and bellows
The detail, precision, and tactility of these assets are like sonic chamomile for the mind. Alongside the power and resonance of the gongs, chimes, and bells, the juxtaposition of these different tonal textures make for a wonderfully dynamic collection.
Sounds that activate some of the deepest parts of our brain’s functioning, the content of Clockwork is simultaneously widely utilitarian and deeply innate. No matter your project, it’s time to dive in.

Known in Prehistoric communities as ‘the original multitool’, few items have been as valued, adapted, and essential in packs, rucksacks, and toolkits as has a trusty bundle of rope. Evolved over millennia, today there are uncountable types available and they each have nuances and a sonic character all their own.
After testing a plethora of ropes of varying size, material, and construction we assembled a batch that brings forward an excellent balance of aural textures. Each type of rope was put through a series of performances and functions and so are labeled and provided in sets based on those actions.
The set includes:

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
