In the “EMF RECORDINGS” library you’ll find… EMF Recordings! Shocking right? This collection is here to help you find that one specific humming sound you have in mind.
Equiped with an Elektrouši and a wide variety of sources (portable recorders, PCs, TVs, cellphones, modems, ATMs, ticket machine, pencil sharpeners, abs stimulator, lamps, printers, vibrators (no shame!), kitchen appliances, plugs, electronic devices, thermomix, vacuums and more), the result was 350 high-quality sfx to cater for your every scifi or electrical need.
These are the sounds you usually want to remove when creating a sound library, but what if that is exactly what somebody is looking for? 100 sounds – 40 source noises and errors and 60 designed unpleasant noises. The library is also available in UCS.
For a long time I have wanted to make my contribution to the EMF sound effects market, with a set of little more unusual EMF sounds.
Listening to, and recording electrical signals of lift servos, AC adaptors switching on and off, electrical toothbrushes, weird analog devices, tv sets and much more is basically what this library of sounds is made from.
The end result is 103 mono and stereo tracks of appliances turning on and off, running, and maneuvering the Electrousi microphones around in a most often improvised and I dont know what Im doing kind of way.
VHS Glitch captures the nostalgic yet futuristic sounds of a vintage VCR and VHS tape, recorded with stereo condenser and electromagnetic mics to capture the playback mechanics. Each function—play, rewind, fast forward, and pause—has been captured, then transformed through granular effects plugins to create a unique blend of glitchy static, hums, and electro-mechanical textures. The result is a library rich in lo-fi, distorted, and otherworldly sounds, perfect for projects needing a retro-tech vibe or sci-fi edge.
NeoVolt is a carefully curated collection of over 600 electricity sounds across 60 files. Inspired by the iconic Tesla coil zap sound from Red Alert, but with so much more to offer. Perfect for any scenario featuring electricity, magic, or futuristic sci-fi elements. Contains both designed audio and source files.
Chaotic precision and intensity, crafted for maximum impact. DESERT TRASH brings 170 WAV sounds to the table, ranging from subtle signatures and call-response elements to brutal, hard-hitting sound design.

This Collection of Room Tones contains Recordings made in empty, abandoned old Buildings and Medieval Ruins. Unsettling Draft Sounds from different perspectives. Wind Gusts heard from inside, Wind Storm echoing in old Chapels or Church, eerie humming inside abandoned spaces, Tonal Draft creating creepy atmospheres… Over 2,5 hours of Urbex type ambiences, containing long files and loops for easy use and variety. Recorded in stereo inside and outside interesting, and secret places, which is a rule for urban exploring ;-)
These are not common Room Tones with only presence of a silent room, but more ambiences that are suited for games/movie where characters are supposed to be in shelter, in abandoned places, in castles, dungeons, prisons, machine rooms etc. Cracks, moving structures, rattling objects are left in purposely to really have a detailed and convincing setting for game, documentary or any visual content. Best is to keep the volume low enough to not overdo the atmosphere.
Care is taken to not have any disturbing human traffic in the recordings, so these will fit for most time periods and geographic locations.

Evocative Sound and Visuals is pleased to announce the release of Electromagnetic Fields. This library contains 163 meticulously crafted and mastered sounds from 68 devices and structures captured in high-quality stereo with a Sony PCM D100 recorder and two small induction coil microphones. Included are hums, drones, beeps, bleeps, buzzes, glitches, pulses, static and more strange sounds I cannot describe.
With few exceptions, we mere mortals can’t hear the electromagnetic fields (EMF) surrounding us. If we could, we’d go crazy, especially in our ever-expanding electronic environment. We can tune our ears into this other sonic world using induction coil microphones. I never knew quite what to expect when placing mics on an object. Having two microphones with fairly long cables allowed me to find the most sonically interesting parts of an object to focus on. Two mics spaced apart also allow for a nice stereo spread.
Have fun experimenting with and inserting these hi-tech sounds (some captured in 96kHz/24-bit and others in 192kHz/24-bit) into your next science fiction and otherworldly creations. Please don’t take the device’s sound literally. That SLR’s motor drive may just be your next rapid-fire laser cannon.
As a sound editor, I always found it frustrating when cutting cellphone ringtones and beeps for movies or TV shows. Firstly, we are unable to use copyrighted tunes, often leading us to resort to old 90s cellphone ringtones. Secondly, the challenge lies in ensuring that the beeps and ringtones are not overly intrusive while still being easily recognizable.
To address these issues, I developed the “Telephones and Computers Survival Toolkit” sound effects library. This comprehensive collection includes 1221 sound effects, encompassing mouse clicks and movements, USB drive insert/eject sounds, power-up chords, old-school beeps, animation sounds, cellphone ringtones, cellphone beeps, haptics, etc. Additionally, some cellphone ringtones are organized in patterns, allowing users to mix pattern “stems” and create new variations of ringtones.
All sound effects are provided at 48kHz/24-bit, in raw or “full bandwidth” format. This enables users to modify the sounds using their preferred plugins.
Regarding the provided demo files on SoundCloud:
The sound effects have intentionally been altered to give listeners a realistic sense of how they would sound in a real-life situation.
We wanted to redesign some of our Coil Pickup recordings so we fired them into our in house Kontakt instrument and started to redesign them.
We got in to creating some Arc/Tesla/Plasma type sounds, from one shot Electricity Zaps, Crackles, Statics, Hums and Buzzes to a variety of looped buzzes and tonal elements.
Arc will give you enough audio to give your project the authentic sound of an Arc, Tesla and Plasma type sounds, boosting your project to the next level. Arc has been edited to allow a drop in ready and Royalty Free sample pack. These Samples can be used in a variety of projects from Sound Designing/Compositions for TV, Film, Documentaries and Video Games. UCS Compliant and Metadata is attached to the samples

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
