Water & Ocean Sounds

Water and ocean sound effects – includes environments, movement, splashes and much more

  • River Flows: Over & Under library brings running river sounds, captured over and under the surface. It features 80 HQ audio files, ranging from cascading waterfalls to running rivers and babbling brooks and creeks. The total duration of the collection is 4 hours with the majority of the recordings captured during wintertime, which makes them uniquely free from any bird and insect audio backdrop.

Overall, the collection caters to projects that require environmental sounds of flowing, emerging/submerging bodies of water as well as underwater ambiences.

    COMPLIMENTARY SOUNDS INCLUDED

And what a bonus! We included 20 designed sounds of otherworldly, evolving aquatic ambiences, designed using our source recordings of River Flows library. We passed them through Pitch Shifters, Filtering, Eqs and Sculpting effects like Reformer by Krotos, Granular Synthesis Plugin by The Mangle, and the 3D Audio Software, Sound Particles.

This library comes along with 15 Soundminer Metadata fields, such as description, keywords, category/sub-category, microphone specifications, and more.

  • Nature & Countryside Ambiences River Estuary Play Track 105 ambiences, 91 spot+ sounds included From: $45

River Estuary is a series of recordings centred around the River Deben estuary in Suffolk, an area famous for its natural beauty and wildlife. It is a treasure trove of sounds that capture the ambience of this serene environment, with a focus on the wading bird calls that give the estuary its unique sonic character.

The library was mostly recorded on a boat stationed in Woodbridge in the late winter of 2018 with private access to the boatyard, allowing me to record safely over night. I continued the recordings up until late summer, making trips to other areas along the Deben in between. I was also granted permission to record on the privately owned Sutton Hoo side of the Deben, another of Suffolk’s areas of outstanding historical significance and beauty, equally full of life but further away from the rumbling traffic and human life coming from the town.

It includes the sounds of curlews, oystercatchers, redshanks, geese, swans, ducks and various other wading bird calls, as well as general ambience recordings of the area at high tide and low tide and all hours of the day. The night calls that echo over the expanse of the river at low tide are particularly evocative.

The library was recorded entirely in 24bit/96k with a double Mid/Side rig consisting of Sennheiser MKH60/30 and 8040 mics, encoded to 5.1 Wav. A stereo option is also available at a lower price. As a bonus there is a collection of bird call spot FX taken from the recordings with noise reduction applied, for those who may need to add individual wading bird calls to their ambience.

  • In the heart of the Pacific Northwest, Washington State is full of natural beauty found in many different climate zones all within a day’s drive from Seattle.

  • Geese‘ contains a massive array of wild bird sound effects recorded from various canals, rivers, reservoirs and lakes. We are the first in the world to release a nature library with a specific, extensive collection of Goose sounds, which includes flapping wings, fighting, footsteps, paddling, swimming and jumping into water, eating various types of foods, a wide array of vocalisations including groups(gaggles), pairs, individuals and much, much more.

Our Audio Craftsmen meticulously planned our field recording sessions considering time of day, weather conditions and different locations aiming to capture the full range of behaviour these animals display on a daily basis. We visited a variety of spots and spent time learning the behaviours of Geese, allowing us to capture their reactions as both individuals and groups of varying size. We recorded sounds during a variety of scenarios including eating food, fighting each other, and encountering ducks/other water birds. The huge difference in personalities between these birds allowed us to capture distinct vocalisations made while being fed, acting calm, aggressive or being threatened by rivals to their territory (even making sounds that could be mistaken for a dog, chicken or dinosaur!).

We also recorded sounds from different perspectives which include tunnels (both inside and from a far), a gaggle of Geese approaching from a distance, fighting, flying and swimming by as well as close up sounds of eating, pecking and more.

Moreover, all the sounds provided are dry in 192kHz 24Bit. Allowing for uses varying from nature documentaries through to excellent source sounds for creature and vocal design.

  • Water & Ocean Sounds Underwater textures Play Track 116 sounds included, 166 mins total $23

Underwater recordings of the river, lake (pond) and stream recorded with one or two hydrophones.

Underwater sound textures, ambiences and other strange sounds like: deep underwater bass rumbling, bubbles in water stream, flowing of water under the ice and many others.

The „Stereo“ recordings are actually two mono channels (or hydrophones) spaced approx. 1 m and placed in water flow to get some depth or left to right (or vice versa) channel time difference or “stereo”. Mix these two channels to get depth or water impact to your taste. Recorded in all seasons, in various water levels/water speed. The recordings marked  “LOOP”  are loop ready and can be repeated continuously.

All recordings are recorded with Aquarian audio H2-a XLR hydrophones and Sound Devices field mixer (preamps are Lundahl input transformers-analog warmth). Recorded in many years with different recorders (but preamps and hydrophones are always the same).

Max peak level is around -5dBFS. No compressors or dynamic tools were used in editing.

  • Underwater recordings of the sea recorded with one or two hydrophones.

Geophony and anthrophony underwater sounds: sounds of the waves, shallows, deep sea, port, harbour, diving, ship, sea traffic and other. Underwater ambiences and textures.

Note that the background crackling of the sea is present in the majority of the recordings.

All recordings are recorded with Aquarian audio H2-a XLR hydrophones and Sound Devices field mixer (preamps are Lundahl input transformers for warmth of the sound). Special suspension for the hydrophones is used to avoid (handling) rumble. For “stereo” recordings hydrophones were spaced 1m apart  to get some time difference (or Depth of field). There is a mono recordings recorded with one hydrophone too.

Max peak level is around -5dBFS. No compressors or dynamic tools were used in editing.

  • This library contains dynamic, harsh, aggressive and sometimes mysterious wind sounds and strong and heavy gusts.

I took bike trips around World War II sites on the shores of France and the Netherlands. The winds on the steep rocky cliffs as well as on the long sandy beaches are one of a kind. Especially the resonances of rumbling bonkers and swirling winds inside hides and on the concrete edges of munition depots create an atmosphere of terror, that allowed me to took a glimpse inside the soundscapes of these horrific times.

The cliffs with the old war stuctures, the dunes, the swapping sand, the storms in the forests behind the shoreline all have a unique character and texture.

I picked the recordings, which created images of the battlefield inside my head and described these images in the meta data. But of course this wind library can be used for any scene, that contains a strong blow of air.

Most sounds are recorded in ORTF stereo, some were better captured in mono or with a contact mic.

If you need more specific wind sounds, my library “Tonal Wind” and this library are complementing each other to a versatile tool for a broad use of wind sounds. Contact me for bundle prices.

Late evening frog concerts? Rainfall lapping on the lake? The slap of a beaver tail? Let these examples give you a fair idea of what this beautiful collection has on its great content list.
