This collection has over four hours of streams, rivers, and waterfalls, all recorded without birds or man-made noise. The 91 recordings offer a variety of perspectives, from close-up to distant, highlighting the natural gurgles and splashes. Everything was recorded in northern Norway, Belgium, and northern France.
I created this collection primarily for myself, aware of the many Rivers and Streams libraries out there, but I couldn’t resist sharing it after enjoying the recording process so much. The sounds capture everything from the intense rush of water just above the roaring rapids to the gentle flow of rivers hundreds of meters away. In quiet natural environments, the sound of flowing water can be heard from very far and this really impacts the soundscape in a beautiful way. I also designed some waterfall samples, focusing on texture to avoid the typical pink noise. These additions sound powerful yet natural. There are also low-end recordings of a large waterfall, captured between rock formations, which deliver a deep roar with minimal high frequencies—perfect for enhancing water sounds.
Many of the recordings were captured during a 30-day hiking trip through the northernmost parts of Norway. Crossing rivers without bridges was a significant part of the journey, and these sounds instantly take me back there, wet feet and all. I hope you’ll find them useful!

Working on this library was very challenging personally for me. It took over a year to perfect it. It was difficult to remember where each recording was from and why I made it in the first place. Sometimes, photos from the locations helped, where I had to dig deep into my memory and listen to the recordings multiple times.
Kaleidoscope is a collection of disparate recordings united by one idea – to capture the here and now. From the clicks of waves resonating in the concrete confines of an abandoned duct to the atmosphere of an empty hotel room, from rain drumming on a metal canopy to sliding crystals in icy voids. In the American West, water scarcity and allocation are hot topic issues. Gain access inside a working powerhouse along the Boise River as one of three generators, producing over 1,000–kilowatts of power, crank up from a cold start in advance of the irrigation season. Get hit in the face with spray from Shoshone Falls, a waterfall taller than Niagara Falls, during a high water event. Stand 100 yards downstream from the massive Bonneville Lock and Dam along the Columbia River in Oregon as 3,487 Kgal/sec rush past, generating 624 megawatts of power. From alpine mountain rivers that rush after the snow melt, brooklets jumping over rocks, natural and human-made tunnels, bubbling watersteps in streams, rapids and riverwaves to plattering waterfalls, straight concrete waste water run and groaning and hissing natural brooks.
Some sounds are harsh and almost white noise, others are lovely and relaxing.
I mostly recorded at night, to keep the recordings free of bird, car or plane noise.

Shores of Senja is a collection of wave recordings from the second largest island in Norway. We spent three days on Senja and recorded a wide variety of waves on different surfaces. This collection includes small to big waves and surfaces like sandy beaches, pebbles, rocks and cliffsides.
We recorded everything with one cardioid stereo pair and one omni stereo pair for added flexibility and options in the mix.
