Nature sound effects and recordings, from forests, jungles, plains and fields
From Medellin to the Jungle of Tayrona and the pueblos of zone de cafeteria. Extensive recording sessions from Colombia – Urban, markets, rural, forests, jungle, walla, and much more.
UK Canals, Parks and Forests contains a varied assortment of exterior sounds captured during field recording sessions by our team of Audio Craftsmen. The sound effects in this library will make an excellent compliment to your collection and are perfect for use in films, documentaries, commercials, and video games. They work well for projects based in the UK, but are equally at home in international projects.
The team travelled through picturesque locations around Greater Manchester – the heart of industrial Britain, capturing some of the world’s most beautiful canals and their essence in a set of ambience recordings. We also visited some wonderful parks and forests to record some of the people and the wildlife. We recorded forest paths, various birds, crows, children playing, rivers and geese all in real-world locations to give you the most authentic & grounded representation of the UK.
The included ambiences have been carefully edited to the same running length so that you can seamlessly drop them into your project timeline and are provided dry in 24Bit 96kHz allowing for further sonic manipulation if required. All files are tagged with extensive metadata to allow you to search for and select the desired sound with ease.
Some of the included sounds are: daytime canal with running water, geese with people passing by, under a foot bridge, ducks quacking in a canal, daytime forest birds, crows, people boxing in a park and many, many more.
This library contains a wide range of subtle shoreline recordings. Coastlines feature waves lapping against rocks, sand bars and mangroves. All recordings were made in the early or late hours of the day to minimise background noise.
All sounds were recorded using the DPA 5100 and Sound Devices 788T.

VARYING AMBIENCES WITH EVERY SEASON
DECIDUOUS FORESTS are intimate and harmonious spaces. Their sound character is much quieter than that of tropical forests – but nonetheless spectacular. Their loudness varies and changes with the seasons, as the angle of the arriving solar energy gradually impacts their character. Winter, spring, summer or fall – you’ll find what you need to create the whole acoustic range of different weather conditions and day times in this collection, e.g. dawn onsets with early birds, day birdsongs and insects, wind drips and frogs, passing flocks, rainy storm aftermath…
LIVELY ABUNDANCE
DECIDUOUS FORESTS is especially rich with songbird and insect ambiences. The sheer selection of birds included in these all-natural hardwood ambient recordings ranges from American Robin, Barred Owl and Darkeyed Junco to Ruffed Grouse, Tufted Titmouse, Whippoorwill and so many more. Whether talkative, rhythmic, active or relaxed, their bird songs shape the unique characteristic of these natural cathedrals as the echo or afterlife of the original sound has a pronounced forest acoustic.

For many people, rain is high on their list favorite sounds to relax, study, or sleep to. For how soothing and common of a sound it is, it happens to be one of the most difficult to record – that is, if you want to still be able to use your gear afterwards.
In early spring of 2023, a little rain recording experiment on the fire escape leading to my somewhat sheltered backyard revealed that little to no city noise would actually make it onto the recording. Surprised by how clean these recordings came out, and by how wet of a summer we’ve been having this year, I proceeded to record in the backyard of my apartment almost every time it rained.
Over a period of 6 months, I recorded hundreds of gigabytes of rain and ultimately narrowed it down to the 3 hours contained in this library. If you are looking for rain recordings that are clean and work well for layering while still clearly anchoring your soundscape in suburban spaces, this is the library for you! Also included are two long thunderstorms that can be heard moving into the distance.
These recordings contain no distinct car sounds, people, or sirens, and have been minimally processed to make them flexible for use in films, games, and video productions.
As an added bonus, this library contains immersive, Ambisonic (AmbiX) recordings of rain captured from the inside of a tin shed. To convert these recordings to binaural or surround formats I recommend downloaded the free SoundField by RØDE plug-in.

Garden and nature in winter: sparse birdsong, busy gardeners, dogs barking with pleasant echoes, roosters crowing, jets and propeller planes passing overhead, as well as the dead silence and eerie rustling in the depths of the night; the awakening of nature and residents in the early morning hours, and much more.
‘Residential Forest III’ is the third library in my series of long-term recordings from a German allotment environment. This remote area, surrounded by forest, features cottages, ponds, and an abundance of natural sounds. The library captures a blend of suburban, residential, and forest ambiences.
‘Residential Forest III’ includes 36 unique ambiences recorded in Germany during spring, specifically in January 2023, from 1 p.m. to 11 a.m. the following day. From these 23 hours of recordings, I have carefully edited and curated the best moments, creating a 4 GB auditory journey through the afternoon, evening, night, morning, and midday hours in this residential forest setting.
To capture the profound silence of the night, I used a matched pair of Rode NT1-A microphones with exceptionally low noise, paired with a Tascam HD-P1 recorder.
The total duration of the library is approximately 3.5 hours, with most ambiences ranging from 5 to 10 minutes. Some are longer, while a few are shorter.
‘Residential Forest III’ was recorded in AB stereophony at 48 kHz, 24-bit.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
