Big Room Sound is led by award-winning sound designer J.R. Fountain who works in film and television in Toronto, Canada. The libraries found here are a result of his passion for having fresh, original and tailored content for the projects he works on. You can be sure that these sounds have been tested in the real world and will become a valuable asset to your collection.

Dog Sound Effects Wimpy Dog Play Track 38+ sounds included, 7+ mins total $19

“Wimpy Dog” is a collection of over 35 different recordings of a particularly sad German shepherd. He whines, he calls out, he yelps, he pants and pleads for attention in a truly expressive manner. He’ll be sure to bring some much needed character to any dog you’ve got onscreen or a creature you are designing.

The takes are generous in length, with plenty of breaths before and after each vocalization simplifying the creation of complex sequences. All of this was recorded outside, with great signal to noise, ie. very little air. No kennel reverb or cage moves and only the occasional birds in the background. That adds up to sounds which will hold up to robust amounts of processing.

These are relatively simple ding a ling’s that aren’t gonna call any more attention to themselves than needed. So they’ll sit in your tracks just right, and with some uniquely creative file names you’ll always remember your favourites to come back to while you’re cutting.

Mechanical Sound Effects The Dentist Office Play Track 100 sounds included, 25 mins total $39

Dr. Daniels is the only dentist I’ve ever known and he was gracious enough to let me roam around his office after hours collecting these sounds.

The intent was to gather source material for hi-tech gadgetry so the library contains a nice selection of tools and equipment including drills, a mouth vacuum, an ultrasonic water sprayer, dental lathe, dental kiln, a creepy sounding dentist chair and a wicked cool CEREC machine (diamond tipped milling machine that cuts dental implants).

The handheld tools are “performed” so as to create movement, pass by’s and simulate power fluctuations.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!

A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.

And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
