Recording of a Ferrari 488 from 2016 with a 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 661 horsepower engine.
The Ferrari 488 exotic car sound collection features 302 clips in 19.39 gigabytes of audio. It features the sound of the 2016 Italian sports car’s 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 661 horsepower engine performing in 17 takes.
The sound bundle includes 9 onboard and 10 exterior perspectives. The 21 exterior channels capture the car travelling at fast, slow, and medium speeds on straightaways and around corners at close and distant perspectives. The 10 onboard channels recorded engine, exhaust, and interior driving at steady RPMs, with gearshifts, and with ramps. Also included are starting, stopping, passing, and other exterior maneuvers.
Every sound effect is embedded with over 18 fields of Soundminer, BWAV, and MacOS Finder metadata. In addition, every take is provided aligned and ready for tandem-track mixing and editing in Reaper and Pro Tools session.
This is a sound library of a Ferrari F8 Tributo mid-rear-engined supercar with a 3.9Â L twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 710 horsepowers, outputting 770Nm of torque. It has the most powerful Ferrari-produced engine to date (as of Jan 2022).Â
The recording was done during the vehicle’s performance test session. The majority of the onboards cover engine and exhaust sounds with Dpa 4062 installed on exhaust and Dpa 4061 placed within the engine compartment. The library has over 100 minutes of Ferrari’s onboard audio covering a wide variety of sounds when the car was on track. This includes full-speed runs, slow and cool-down laps, drifting sessions, take-offs with launch control, and donuts.Â
Passbys were captured by both stereo and mono field-based setups yielding a wide variety of sounds such as takeoffs, full, medium and slow speed passbys, passes mid-drifting, burnouts and interesting takes attempting to send the Ferrari into drifting. Library also contains some natural tyre squealing and the sound of the car passing over the curbs at high speed.
The car also had a stereo setup installed within the interior produced limiting results due to frequent radio chatter. What was usable is edited alongside the onboards.
This sound collection covers a wide range of sounds produced by this colorful characteristic car. Not only extensive driving sounds but also foley (doors, windows, body tapping, …), horn blasts and engine loops. All in high quality 96/24 BWAV-files, recorded with high end equipment.
The recordings are multitrack. For the onboard recordings you’ll find synchronized recordings of engine, exhaust, cabin. For the roadside recordings you’ll find an ortf stereo pair (on a stand) and a long shotgun mic (handheld, tracking movement)

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
