With so many new libraries at A Sound Effect, we had to do a special bi-weekly roundup to cover them all! In this recap, you will find sounds of antique mills from the 1500s, cartoonish laughs and reactions, gushing waterfalls that envelop your ears, old-fashioned cash registers, vigorous summer rain and thunderstorms, ’90s land cruisers, and ambiences from northern Indian and Senegal. These SFX creators are back in full swing, so we hope you’re as delighted with their sounds as we are!
The Soundcatcher released 'Antique Mills', a library that has the sounds of a water spelt mill from 1529 (the year of the Westrogothian rebellion in Sweden, don't you remember?). As the stream pushes the wheel, you hear plenty of creaks, groans, rushing water, mechanic rumbles, rattling chains, pipe resonances, and more. It also has sounds of a 1699 tannery and all its various hammer drops. Whether your sound design goes back in time or has characters who like to work with their hands, be sure to listen to this one.
Sound designers George Vlad and Daan Hendriks have joined forces in their first collaboration 'Land Cruiser, 1990'. Recorded at the 2016 Sonic Mmabolela annual workshop in Limpopo Province, South Africa, this library features 21 minutes of driving from the perspectives of the exhaust, wheels, and two areas on the engine. Overall, there are 80 minutes of flexible sounds from this dependable sports utility vehicle. Also included are recordings of failed ignition attempts, a start up, idling, revving, reversing, and stopping the engine. If you have off-roading in your project, this might be the library you're looking for.
In their new library, Faunethic captures over three hours of beautiful ambiences from 'North India'. Featuring the country's major cities, Dehli and Kolkata, the countrysides and villages of Rajasthan, and the mountainous Punjab and Himachal Pradesh on the border of the Himalayans, this collection has sounds of busy city traffic, Hindu temples, train stations, children playing in villages, mountain ambiences filled by cows and birds, and much more. These sounds will make you wish travel was as easy as it seems in Bollywood movies. For beautiful perspectives of daily life in one the world's oldest countries, check out this library.
'Electric Cash Register' by The Soundcatcher features the in-depth recordings of an old Sanyo cash register. This library has over 1,000 sounds in 20 minutes to show off the register's mechanisms, such as its drawers, keys, switches, buttons, paper, panels, and errors. It even has sounds of printing - along with paper being ripped and crumbed - and recordings of the drawer being forced open with a screwdriver. Whether you're designing a heist scene or unique UI clicks and pops, give this library a listen.
Looking for laughs, baby talk, talking toys, and onomatopoeia? Then 'Fun Character Voices' is a collection for you. Featuring voices from the Pro Sound Collection by Gamemaster Audio, this library has utterances and reactions of all kinds with happy babbling children, semantically expressive adults, classic duck and chipmunk sounds, and squeaky toys that seem to tell you exactly what's on their minds. Also included are bodily functions like snorts, chewing, farts, and burps. If you're looking for something comical and cartoonish, check this library out.
'Thunder and Rain' by redSonic has over two and a half hours of its titular sources from storms in Helsinki and France. These sounds were captured over two years during the hot, violent storms of Finland's short summers. The recordings vary from half a minute to 31 minutes, offering lots of transitions, thunder cracks, drizzling, heavy rain, and rainless thunder to meet your various stormy needs. With this library you can save your recorders from the rain and sleep peacefully during nearby the storms knowing you're covered in your collection.
Take a trip to West Africa and enjoy the 'Sounds of Senegal' captured by Eneas Mentzel – Sound Recording & Sound Design. In this library you will hear over 3.5 hours of city and village ambiences that feature the people and wildlife in the coastal capital of this country. With ambiences from the coast of Ngor, children playing in Thiaroye suburbs of Dakar, morning prayers from a Daara, young talibe boys reciting the Quran, busy crowds and traffic in Touba, night ambiences in Yoff, and more, this library presents sounds essential to the city's culture, landscapes, and history.

Thomas Rex Beverly has been busy traveling all over the US, and in his new library he features the gorges of the Appalachians in 'New York | Gorges and Waterfalls'. This library contains 70 minutes of rushing waterfalls from 1 to 65-meters tall in the secluded canyons of New York State.
