After a brief hiatus, it’s time to take a listen to some of the new SFX libraries here on A Sound Effect. And from the crashes and hits of metal and glass to the ambiences of busy crowds and European cafés, to the ripping and crumpling of paper, there are lots of excellent sounds to check out:
'Sounds of Europe 1 - Busy Places' by Resonant was created with TV and film in mind. It contains the sounds you need most often when designing for a European background with ambiences from cafes, train stations, churches, pubs and other public areas. Each track has been cleaned to remove unwanted sounds; however, a few tracks have kept perceptible words from various European languages in Venice, London, Prague, Vienna and Annecy. For a great assortment of European flavor, give this library a listen.
Featuring sounds from books, newspapers, magazines and standard A4 stock, 'Paper' by Principle Sound Design has all the rips, page turns, crumples and tears you need. These 192 kHz recordings allow for maximum flexibility, whether you plan to pitch bend them into the deep mating calls of an underwater monster or create succinct UI sounds for desktop applications. With over 400 sounds, there are plenty to choose from.
'Surround in a Crowd 5.1' by 2496 Sound Effects contains 120 minutes of crowd ambiences from various indoor and outdoor hang-out spots. It includes busy shopping malls, children in playgrounds and parks, crowded lobbies, quiet libraries and museums, intimate restaurants and subways, and more. Each recording takes place in the center of the crowd for a perspective that allows the most immersive 5.1 and surround sound experience.
Airborne Sound is the collector of all things audible. This time they’ve focused on the hits, drops, crashes, drags and scrapes of metal in their new library 'Elements: Metal'. Featuring iron and steel on concrete, dirt and checker plates, this library contains various proximities with close mono sounds and medium-distant and distant stereo sounds. With a massive collection of 1,755 files, you are sure to find the perfect match for your scene in this library.
Along a similar collective theme, Airborne Sound has focused on glass sounds, too. For 'Elements: Glass', Airborne Sound shattered every brittle object they could find. Pint glasses, platters, mugs, debris, and wine glasses were destroyed upon cinder blocks, concrete, wood, mallets and other glasses. With three different proximities, this library will likely contain the shattering, bursting or crashing glass you are looking for.
