In this new roundup of the latest sound effects libraries we have powerful background sounds that will keep your audience suspended in disbelief. We have ambiences of a quiet Canadian city and a huge assortment of room tones, as well as a Stand-Alone version of the very successful Edward Ultimate footstep/clothing/prop engine, and foley sounds of household items being opened and closed.

We also have subtle UI effects created with Tibetan singing bowls, in-your-face impacts that will test your audience’s nerves, and onboard and external sounds of an American tractor. If you are looking for sounds you can interact with, this is your week!

Quiet Streets

  • City Life Sound Effects Quiet Streets Play Track 87+ sounds included, 216 mins total From: $49

A slight breeze, the city rumble, distant people chatters, a bird passing by, crickets chirping, a little rain or snow, the tranquility inside the city is a fragile and magical moment.

City streets are the channels of all the possibles, a heat place for sensorial stimulus connecting people lives and their urban activities throughout the day. Yet when it becomes quiet we still perceive its energy and are able to sense the mood of the moment with serenity.

These recordings were made at ground level with very little editing in order to keep them natural and as close as a human would experience the city on a daily basis. At times, distinct activities can be heard in the distance although the most noisiest events were taken out. Each file is loopable.

Also, every season and weather condition are represented. This library has been thought for the universal need of sonic bed in urban scenes, used as glue or ‘exterior roomtone‘.

This selection is the result of 15 months of recording throughout the multicultural city of Montreal (considered the most European City in North-America). The mix of culture in this city gives it a universal flavor that makes it belongs to the citizen of the 21st Century world.

The library contains 60 Stereo ambience and 27 Surround ambience recordings. Each sound files are between 1 to 5 minutes long. The surround recordings are embedded in an interleaved wav files of 4 channels (quad).

'Quiet Streets' by Articulated Sounds has the lush, varied sounds of the Montréal cityscape in both stereo and surround. It captures all the chattering, rumbling and movement of a quiet day in la métropole for room tone-like ambiences that are ready for your soundscape. It features distance crowds in cafes, birds chirping in alleys, and ventilation humming from office buildings, and it also has a series of weather ambiences collected over a period of 15 months with blizzards, wind lightly pushing wind chimes, rain pattering on metal, and more. For immersive, loopable urban sound beds that can easily be placed in your project, check out 'Quiet Streets'.

Popular sound effects this week:

  • Firearms Sound Effects Analogue Ordinance Play Track 6300+ sounds included, 293 mins total $96

Analogue Ordinance is a massive construction kit for science fiction weapon sounds, made entirely with hardware synthesizers, mastered entirely in the analogue domain, and with more variations per sound than any library of its kind. Absolutely no software plug-ins of any kind were used in its creation, except for its collection of ready-to-use designed sounds to show what can be done with the library’s constituent parts.

Masterminded by sound designer Nathan Moody, this library’s unique sonic language delivers about five hours of material, pushed hard through op amps, transistors, tubes, and transformers. Boutique and unique, customized synthesizer modules were used in conjunction with mastering-grade studio hardware to create sounds that range from retro and cute to modern and devastating.

Sounds are organized into mechanical, thump, body, tail, and charge-up groups for truly modular weapon construction. Each group has six to eight “banks” of related sounds, many with intensity (light, heavy) and duration (short, medium, and long) options. Nearly all sounds include 16 variations. In addition to the construction kit elements, some fully-designed weapon sounds are provided (using only the sounds from the construction kit), designed by Nathan Moody, Chase Steele, Axel Steichen, and Sergio Ronchetti.

But the flexibility doesn’t stop there. Reversing the sounds suddenly turns charge-ups into body elements, and vice versa. Each group has some frequency overlap with the others, so they can be mixed interchangeably outside of their labeled or intended uses with filtering and time/pitch manipulation. While the sounds are designed to be layered with themselves, this library plays very well with others, providing thousands of sweeteners to “tech up” any near-future gun or projectile-based firearm, magical attacks, superhuman abilities, or even user interface elements.

Add some hardware to your warfare. From concealable stun pistols to orbital artillery, Analogue Ordinance provides a fresh injection of new source material for your sci-fi weapon designs.
