The amount of new SFX releases has been incredible, so we’re splitting this recap into two: For this first one, we have new libraries ranging from cutting-edge virtual instruments to cosy European soundscapes.
You will find UI sounds that are bright and trickly and others that are modern and flexible. There are also whooshes of various textures and a collection that can be controlled like an instrument. Plus, there are sounds from Denmark’s less traveled alleyways, backyards and construction sites, a SFX subscription option, and sounds of zipping, growling motorcycles on a race track. Read on for all the details.
'Raceday – Motorcycles' by Smackheads has sounds of speed on the race track. With a 300cc Yamaha R3, a Moto 3, and 600cc and 1000cc beasts, this library gives you the buzz, hum and growl of these bikes as they fly around the track. With 90 recordings, you will hear solo and group races as well as the twists of the track with a hairpin exit and fast turns. There are also many quick passbys, giving you sounds to create whooshes with an organic feel. If you need some power in your sound design, check this library out.
'Tech Tech Tech Data' by Smackheads has interesting new computer sounds to give some personality to your UI, machine, and buttons sounds. With bleeps and bloops that have all sorts of timbre and rhythms, these sounds will convince your audience whether your scenes are in the modern day or in the future. Plus, each sound is loopable for flexible interactive use. If you are looking for the digital sounds of data processing, this library is for you.
'Ninety Nine Problems But A Whoosh Ain’t One' by Smackheads gives you 99 whooshes that are long, quick and medium-paced and feature a variety of textures. The library includes whooshes that are metallic, sharp, hollow, digital, industrial, and dark, as well as others that sound like ocean waves, vehicles passing by, and cloth. These professional sounds will pop out in your soundscape, and since each sound effect is on its own file, whooshes certainly won't be one of your ninety-nine problems.
'Wave Warper' is a standalone whoosh library tool for Mac and PC with 10 VSTs, 2 compressors, 9 filters, randomization, reverb, and more. This tool can be intuitively 'played' by users with an XY pad or a Leap Motion control and allows real-time control over pitch, volume, panning and filtering. Plus, it offers MIDI control for Doppler and passby effects, and you can even load your own SFX and VST plugins. For a tool that takes sound design and SFX to the next level, who else would create such a cool tool than SoundMorph?
Want access to a huge sound catalog to grab single sound effects from once in a while? 'Audiohero – The Hero' is the largest subscription from Audiohero. 'Interface Accents' has soft, smooth-as-butter UI sounds that only Airborne Sound could make. With bubbly, chirping, watery, buzzing, trickling sounds, this library's 325 sounds will add a touch of ear-pleasing notifications to your project. It also includes menu sounds, scrolling and scanning, computing, buttons, alerts, and switches, giving you just about every sound you could need for your futuristic instruments. If you want your audience to feel like they are in the cockpit or the server room, give this library a listen.
'Construction Ambiences' by SonicSalute takes you to the heart of earplug-wearing, Arbejdstilsynet-regulating construction sites in Denmark and the huge machinery you can find there. With sounds of cobblestone pavers, concrete shredders, harbor cranes, forklifts, jackhammers, stonecutters, excavators and more, this library has plenty of content in its 2 hours with tracks ranging from one minute to eight minutes. With a variety of perspectives, interior and exterior locations, and surprisingly no clipping, this library should give you a blue collar feel right away.
'Backyards & Alleyways' by SonicSalute features Denmark from areas hidden in between its buildings. These atmospheric sounds include ambiences in cemeteries, gardens, schoolyards, and apartments from small cities as well as industrial alleys and wintery churchyards with their surrounding magpies, crows and sparrows as thy braving the cold. With the intimate recording style of SonicSalute, you're sure to find memorable sounds and characteristics to please your audience.
