This week we have seven new libraries on A Sound Effect. There are fierce tigers both large and small, sounds of Japanese soda that will give a little fizz to your sound design kit, volleyballs that are hit, blocked and spiked, cartoons that feature musical instruments and silly foley, steampunk machines that will inspire your neo-Victorian world, and new clothing and props for the massive Edward ULTIMATE collection. There is a little something for everyone this week!
'Steam Machines' is a Steampunk designer’s dream! With loads of gizmos, gadgets, and machines of all sizes, this library by Moon Echo Audio will not only voice the current machines in your project, it will inspire new ones. There are sounds of turning gears, compressed steam, clicking switches, mechanical motion, running engines, sparks, and workshop ambience. With machine libraries, you may be used to woodworking tools or industrial machines, but this is something special. There is nothing else quite like this library.
'Bengal Tiger' by Krotos Ltd has the sounds of these 300 kg beasts. With roars, growls, moans, hisses, grunts, rasps and more, these sounds can be used as-is or manipulated to create new sources for just about any project. Recorded at 192kHz, these high-quality sounds are flexible so you can create both beasts and machines. Stretch them for deep drones, massive monsters, spaceship engines, or whatever your imagination comes up with.
Here are the sounds of babies that won’t makes you say 'aww'. Like ‘Bengal Tiger’, 'Baby Tiger’ by Krotos Ltd has growls, hisses, moans, cries and purrs of tigers, but in their smallest form. Recorded in Thailand, these sounds are up close and personal rather than separated by bars in a zoo. This is probably the closest you can hear these younglings' voices without fear of their mothers.
With nearly ninety years of cartoons, animated sound design has established quite the 'language'. Small chirpy birds indicate someone has been knocked out. A high violin slur means an eyebrow was raised. A slide whistle lets you know someone is falling. And while many recognizable sounds are hilariously violent, BOOM Library gives you slapstick and more in 'Toons!’ With everything from trumpets and trombones to slaps and plungers, this library takes foley to its most animated form.
Now that it’s summer, it’s time to put up the net and hit the sand. 'Volleyball SFX' by Stuart Duffield has a variety of volleyball sounds by professional players. This library contains blocks, hits and spikes with several variations and intensities of each movement. For a quick pack focused on this easy-to-recognize leather ball, this is a library to hear.
'Burst' is the third library in a four-part percussive hit library by Eiravaein Works. These aren't your standard toms or bongos. Using a summery Japanese soda, ramune, these sounds take percussion to another level. In thick, renowned Codd-neck bottles, these drinks make a variety of sounds as you enjoy them. From the clattering marble in the neck to the light 'match-like' fizz and the aluminum covering, these are just a few of the textures to expect in this fun library.
Once again, the Edward ULTIMATE engine has been expanded, this time to include sounds from the upper parts of the body. 'Edward ULTIMATE - Clothes & Props' has sounds of clothing with heavy coats, wool, denim, suede, leather, sequins, shirts, silk, tutus and windbreakers. It also features several props such as military gear, guns, backpacks, chains, dog tags, duffle bags, keys, purses, and more! With 23,700 foley sounds, 30 setups, and all the reverbs, delays, and pitch wheel adjustability of the Edward engine, Tovusound gives you an extensive and complete library.
