This week on A Sound Effect, we have a great selection of interesting new sound libraries. We have ambient recordings of subtle distant traffic, small towns and farms, and interior locations in South Africa. We also have lots of sounds for your games and interactive projects with clothing Foley, recordings of a large 12-passenger van, cinematic impacts and hits, clean UI effects, and even a collection of elevator sounds. Happy listening!
'Traffic Hush' by Badlands Sound has 20 ambiences with smooth, faraway recordings of - you guessed it - traffic. These bustling sounds capture both passbys and ambiences from various scenarios - cars howling across a bridge, large semi-trucks barreling in the distance, single cars creating sparse passbys, etc. All together you get over an hour of subtle traffic noise that's perfect for night-time traffic, inner-city padding, or even real-world textures for synth drones. If you need a little rumble and distant whoosh, this one has what you're looking for.
'Clothing Foley HD' by Soundopolis gets you the body sounds that will connect your character movements to their congruous footsteps. With nearly 430 sounds, you'll get performances of reaching, patting, zipping, tying, buttoning, and more to bring a corporeal realism to your scenes and interactive characters. You'll also get the sounds of walking in various clothing like jeans, khakis, suit pants, and snow pants captured with an XY microphone that faces both the upper and lower body. Whether you need Foley fast or you want to prototype your middleware events, this library will get you on your way!
'GMC Savana 2010' by Big Room Sound Inc. has sounds of this popular 12-passenger van. This library captures the vehicle from interior, onboard, and exterior perspectives as it drives around, takes fast corners, and completes 3-point turns. You'll also get a collection of component sounds from the horn, doors, switches, windows, gears, and more! For over 2 hours of large van effects with a powerful V8 engine, check this one out.
'Town & Country' by BOOM Library takes you to the heart of charming, rural towns and peaceful farmlands. You will hear over 200 detailed, immersive, and often looping soundscapes from fields, campfires, pig pens, cemeteries, parks, and more, during all parts of the day. Plus, you get unique scenarios like buzzing flies from road kill, grave ornaments in the wind, a trickling well pump - as well as the detailed metadata to lead you there. For ambiences you will find yourself using over and over again, you can't go wrong with BOOM!
'Disturb – Impacts & Hits' by Sound Response has 170 hard-hitting cinematic impacts for your blockbuster trailers, sci-fi weapons, and more! These sounds come from a range of textures including metallic slams, bassy hits, gritty impacts, eerie tension, and all sorts of gritty, glitchy, and stuttering effects. Plus, each sound comes in several variations, so you can inform your audience in subtle ways or at least give them a pleasant amount of randomization. For games and apps alike, this library will get your sonic interaction design on its way.
'South African Ambiences Interior' by TheWorkRoom Audio Post is the companion to their 'Exterior' ambiences from the perpetually temperate Cape Town. With sounds of PA announcements in a train station, voices in a busy shopping center, athletes warming up in a boxing gym, crying babies in the pediatric ward, loud indoor construction, and much more, you will get a wide range of scenarios that are perfect for your scenes. Recordings last from 1 minute to over 15 minutes with multiple takes from most areas, too. For over 160 minutes of ambiences with the distinct accents of South Africa, check this one out.
'Elevators (S)' by Sonner Sound focuses on this convenient mode of transportation with sounds of standard elevators, platform elevators, and industrial lifts. You will get 46 sounds of button presses, door movements, and of course lots of humming room tones from going up and down. You'll also get sounds from an elevator built in the early 1900s and from one of the largest elevators in Europe! If you need a focused yet wide-ranging collection of elevator sounds, look no further.
