Before we begin:
In case you missed it, or you just want to listen to the amazing winners again, we’re going to go through them all below. But before we get started, a big thanks to everyone who made this contest possible! Firstly to the amazingly talented artist KillerRabbitMedia who created our three animated prompts, as well as a big thanks to Kilohearts, Sonuscore, and Rogue Waves, who provided the prizes for the first place winners for each scene. Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who took part! We had well over 300 entries across the three categories and there was so much amazing musical talent on display. It was very difficult narrowing them down to a top 5, let alone a top 1, as everyone had truly brought their A game.
One last reminder for those that did create an entry: we’re putting together three compilation videos on our YouTube Channel showing off everyone’s music. If you would like your entry to be included in our compilations, you can submit them through our form here.
Without further ado, let’s listen to the winners!
Scene 1: Sea
Winner: Daniel Dobbs
Runners up: Soroosh Mohassesi, Sarah Emma, Elias McDermott-Sipe, Luka Nikolic
We thought this track was expertly produced and nailed the vibe – and it’s been stuck in our heads ever since we first heard it. We could definitely see this track in the OST of a Sonic Adventure game or similar! A huge congrats to Daniel!
Scene 2: Smoke
Winner: Ninian Valenta
Runners up: Ste Simpson, Ferenc Bàtri, Alastair McNamara, Elias McDermott-Sipe
We thought this track was a perfect blend of driving synths and orchestral elements. As with the rest of the winners, Ninian absolutely nailed the vibe and we could see this track fitting in perfectly in a post apocalyptic film score or Call of Duty game. This track had us hooked throughout with just the right amount of tension to keep us on edge all the way through. Congrats to Ninian!
Scene 3: Space
Winner: Scott VR
Runners up: Trevor Higuera, Pierre Steytler, Paul Stakounis, Heli Linnus
Scott took our breath away (no pun intended) with this entry for Space! We thought it was an awesome mix of traditional orchestral elements and some creative sci-fi synths, theremins, and processing which came together to create a beautiful yet ever so slightly ominous journey through space. Scott’s victory also takes him up to an Airwiggles record of 4 member tags so an extra congratulations for that too!
That’s all from us! Thank you again to all of the amazingly talented composers who entered this contest. We loved listening to your entries and we’re excited to put together some compilation videos that we can keep coming back to over the years.
If you like audio contests then make sure to enter the A Sound Effect Sound Design Contest (ongoing) and April Audio Challenge (will be announced on Airwiggles soon!)
Congratulations again to our winners!
