David de la Haye is a field-recordist, composer and sound technician working internationally to explore underwater soundscapes.
David explores our perception of beauty, microsound, and more-than-human interaction with nature through meticulous underwater recording and bioacoustic technologies. His eclectic portfolio includes international tours, artist residencies, educational workshops, and gallery installations. Industry achievements include winning the Ivan Juritz Prize (2023) and Sound Of The Year Award (2020) with nominations for an Ivor Novello Composer Award and Times Higher Education “Outstanding Technician of the Year”. David is an ambassador of the Culture County initiative in Durham, where he now lives with his partner and son, and is working towards a practice-led PhD at Newcastle University.
